The first expansion is simply just bad in every way. Matter of fact D2 is just bad in every way. If want to play a really good, much deeper mmorpg shooter get The Division
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This season pass is okay, but barely passable.

To hit on bullet points and make a review short.
Curse of Osiris feels thought out on what they wanted to do with it. Long quests, long adventures after the main quests. Items in this expansion are decent. Mercury could use some work on expanding that map, because most of the missions take place in the same exact area that isn't in the main region of the planet. Crucible maps are decent enough, in my opinion, but that's merely subjective. This expansion gets a 3.1/5.
Warmind adds the grind that fans have been clamoring for, but boy did they cheat people with a short main story. Escalation protocols which are the big cheese in this expansion are fun enough and will have you playing for a while. Items you get in this expansion are better than Curse of Osiris, in my opinion.Crucible maps are okay. Curse has the better maps.
All in all, if you can get this on sale somehow, get it, but you have to really love Destiny 2 to buy this season pass otherwise because if you played the first one, you stand a good chance to be disappointed. For what you pay, they really could have added more content in both these expansions. It's a passable season pass but it's in the whatever pile for me. Destiny 1 had more effort put into their initial season pass.
