I needed to fix the audio on an older Asus motherboard and had used SoundBlaster boards years ago. Found this Diamond board with generally good reviews and the pricing made it an excellent buy. It installed without any problems and the drivers worked perfectly. Great to have the audio working again.

Computer could not find the new hardware, after several tries to make sure it connected properly to my motherboard, I gave up. Also the driver disc would not load the drivers properly. After a few hours trying to install what should only take 5 mins, I gave up. Bought a MUCH cheaper sound card that worked and had the same if not better features. The card I kept was only $9.99.

It is what you expect for a $20 sound card. Does the job you need it to do.

Popped it in and nothing was plug and play, hunted for drivers that wouldn't install because they insisted they were not compatible with my version of windows.

Worst audio card I've ever used

I'm going to be honest, this is probably the single worst soundcard i've ever had (the onboard realtek chip was more reliable before it died) The sound quality is great - when it works. Otherwise, the audio gets frequently bitcrushed, it skips a lot, it produces a bit of static, and has a very weak processor, in the sense that it gets overloaded very easily, not to mention that sometimes it doesnt produce any sound whatsoever. The ONLY way i can fix these problems is by restarting my computer multiple times, and even then it only works for about 5 minutes before failing again. And if that doesnt work, i have to take the card out, plug it back in, and reinstall the drivers... and not the drivers that were included, no. those are outdated and are incompatible. I have to spend hours searching the internet to find drivers that will work. Even the installer was lazily made, it installs the VERY BASIC driver to (sort-of) get the card to work, but good luck getting any of the other features, like the control panel or EQ to work. I don't think it even installs those. The one star rating is generous too, if it were possible to rate this negative 5 stars, i would. I didn't expect a 20 dollar card to do anything impressive, but I expected it to at least do the very thing it's supposed to do, render sound.

The sound card in my PC died and I did not want to go back to using the onbaord audio. I have a surround system attached to my computer and this little card did the trick for getting me back up and running. It also didn't break the bank.

This card has recently been updated to accept Windows 8 systems. For the price this card offers awesome sound quality for surround sound or just regular stereo. The best part about Diamond's 5.1 sound card is it comes with "Audacity", a cool sound editing program worth the purchase price of this product.
