I love this game but I bought it because the price finally dropped took it home and it kept freezing on the opening screen. Took it back and got another copy same problem. Like it said its a great game I have it for the PC but I don't know what was wrong with the PS3 version

This game is a fusion of the choice system from Deus Ex with the post apocalyptic backdrops and masked characters akin to the Half Life series. Not a bad combination on paper and I'm glad to say that it also translates out very well when playing it. As you are playing through the story, you can go down three general paths: good, neutral, and evil. At the end of each level, the game will declare what path you are on with a 'High, Medium, or Low' Chaos rating (where High is akin to evil, and Low is affiliated with going down the good path). How you trek down each path is determined by the amount of people you kill in each level. The more people you kill, the higher your chaos rating will become, and more enemies will be present in the next level you play. You can kill everyone on the map, or no one, or a select few, it's all up to you. Even the main targets (who your supporters in the game want you to assassinate) can be dealt with in a non-lethal manner. If you finish the game with a High Chaos level, you will get a different ending than finishing this game having a Low Chaos level (the Low Chaos level ending being the "Happy Ending" one). Killing is usually the quickest and easiest way of dealing with guards or others that want to harm you, and there are many ways of doing that in this game, but know this, there are at least two different endings in this game. Unfortunately, there are only a few non-lethal ways of dealing with people, and it almost seems as if the game encourages/seduces you into choosing the lethal route. I chose the non-lethal gameplay route, and as a result I noticed there was quite a bit of repetitive slow stealth techniques that I had to use. I was constantly in this altered state of view mode that reminded me a lot like Batman Arkham City: where I was always in this altered view (where it highlights enemies, items, points of interest). And usually end up creeping up behind the enemy and choking them out, or shooting them with a sleeping dart. All that aside, the graphics are top notch, controls feel tight like Borderlands 2, and the framerates are nice and fluid for the amount of draw distance and lighting effects going on in the game. The game overall is very polished and has very nice easy to navigate menus and relatively short loading screens. I can see why a lot of the official critics have rated this game high, but for me this game was of really high polished quality, but a little too short to feel really satisfying. My score is a 3.5/5, but I'll round up to 4 for the Amazon scoring system.

In this game you are an assassin but you didn't start out that way - you were the royal protector who was framed with the murder of the Empress so you are jailed. You need to break out of prison and get to a location where there is a band of "Loyalists" (rebels) who are helping you and this is when you become an assassin for them. I don't game on a frequent basis but when I put in a game, and it's good, I go into what my family calls "gamer mode" and I do nothing but play the game literally all day and into the night. If a game can keep my attention like that, it is a great game and this is one that delivers on such a level. The graphics are fantastic and the ability to upgrade and form your character as you see fit from a stealthy ninja or an all-out warrior on a killing spree makes this game a lot of fun. Collecting the bone charms and runes to upgrade your character puts me on a missions to be sure I collect them all in each level. I just wish there was a way to revisit areas in case you missed something upon leaving and completing that mission. The story-line moves forward well and there are things that will happen that might get you frustrated with the NPCs in the game. Things such as double-crossing and I wish there were more options for your character to choose when dealing with the NPCs - something more than basically "okay I'll do it" and "Wait a minute so I can do something else and then I'll do it". You can choose to be a complete assassin and kill everyone but the choices you make in this regard are reflected in other areas of gameplay: high rat population, higher population of weepers and higher security/guards around. There are some "leaders" and those in high standing the Loyalists send you on missions to assassinate. You can choose to kill them or choose a nonlethal route which does seem to win you favor in some ways. With steady play, you can complete this game and its side missions in a few days tops so it can be considered short game play. I completed the game with a high kill rate and again with a lower kill rate (still some killing but not nearly as much) and there is a difference as well as a different ending. I have not yet achieved "ghost mode" though (complete stealth and no killing at all).

    Excellent Survival Horror Killfest

The game has an engaging storyline and was very fun to play. Loved the Arc Pylon and went out of my way to make it deadly for the enemy. Lured them in their masses to their vaporization end. Had a nice feel of 1899 London with modern technology. I plan on playing the game until I attain all Trophies.

Good for those who enjoy a diversified playstyle, you can complete the entire game stealthily without being seen once or you can be as loud and as destructive as you please. Supernatural abilities are implemented well and the overall playstyle dynamic is refreshing and well executed.

If you are a Bioshock fan, then you will be interested in Dishonored. It is not a copy of Bioshock, but has a similar complexity in gameplay and storyline. Your character is capable of many "magical" things while embarking on assassination missions. If that sounds good to you, you'll like it.

    DISHONORED IS PRETTY GREAT

DISHONORED IS A GREAT STEALTH ACTION GAME WHERE YOU STAB PEOPLE IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT PLACES. I MEAN THAT IN BOTH WAYS; YOU STAB PEOPLE IN THE NECK, ARMS, LEGS AND CHEST AS WELL AS IN CHURCHES, WHARVES, TAVERNS ETC. IT'S REALLY TOUGH BUT THAT MAKES IT ALL THE BETTER WHEN YOU SNEAK IN AND JUST TOTALLY OWN SOME DUDE.

if your in to stealth games you will love it. If not then the games probably not for you. The game gives you a lot of cool way to destroy your enemey, but the bad thing is that it rewards you for being stealth and not killing.

I really like this game. It is fun and immersible and with all the powers yu eventually gain there is multiple ways of going through levels. It is up to you if you go all out or play stealthy. I will say if you are contemplating between dishonored and thief...go with dishonored all the way!

Pros: - immersive world - open ended paths to goals - great storyline - Great stealth game Cons: - the graphics aren't the greatest, but are appropriate - the length of game felt extended, when I got closer to the end - patience and planning are required if you want to be stealthy
