Blu-ray edition is good. Video and audio are both above average, but are not demo quality. The extra features are good and in HD. The temporary tattoos are an interesting addition. Didn't read the books, wife and daughters did. My view is that the movie itself is good, but ending is setup for next. Wife likes movie better than I. Have now watched several times (theater, on cruise, home), while I do recommend the movie, I would also recommend potentially waiting until future sequels are filmed and get the discounted combo pack. Bought the Steelbook on pre-order sale, while nice, special cases generally not worth price differential.

A lot of review sites gave this movie a poor rating but I thought it was fun. It's similar to The Hunger Games with a young, female heroine living in a dystopian future. Instead of a 'games', people are divided into four different 'factions' that define their character and livelihood. Star Shailene Woodley is similarly likeable to Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games as well. Although minor, I thought the music throughout the movie was good and very fitting. It had a futuristic feel.

It seems to be a habit with Hollywood that when one movie company makes a successful movie on a certain theme ... the rest of the crowd jumps on the idea and releases their version of it. Though this was a above average retelling of the "haves vs have nots", I just didn't think the acting level was up to the standard of a few of the others released about the same time ... "The Hunger Games" or Justin Timberlake's "In Time". I would recommend this movie to someone, if only to see the extremely intense acting done by Jai Courtney ... he stole the whole movie for me.

A good movie with great acting and storyline....it is worth either owning to your Blu-ray Collection or a rental.....The acting was great, a good story-line, however I felt like you could insert Hunger Games, District 9, et al.....another take on Future Earth and how Our Class Structure will be the wealthy and privileged, then a middle class, then the poor --- same story different screenplay .... A Very Good Movie, but I will not spend any money on a Part 2, Part 3, etc.

My wife and I saw the movie before reading the books. The movie was excellent and hooked us into reading the book series. Since reading the books, we can spot the differences in the movie from the book. We still think the movie is great but it lost a little bit of its greatness after reading the books which are much better. We understand you can't fit everything from the book into the movie but some things could have been explained a little better in the movie. Regardless, whenever its on one of the HBO channels we find ourselves putting it on. Good movie. Better book.

This is a great movie. Unlike other teen movies of the genre, this story feels realistic, as though it could really be a future if an apocalypse did occur. Unlike other character's of similar genre's, the characters feel very well developed and three dimensional. You care for these characters and you can see how the things of their past affect their present and future. This is a great movie in general, and it is made even greater once you realize that it was created to target teenage audiences. 9/10.

I had not read the books ahead of seeing the movies, and I didn't see this movie at the theater. We bought the blu-ray and saw it at home and I was impressed. The story does take a bit to get rolling, so it seems to take awhile to get into the action, but the director uses that time to explain the world of Divergent and the issues of the times. The story is well crafted, the actors and special effects very good, I'd strongly recommend adding this one to your collection.

I love this movie, the graphics and and the quality of the appeareance that it show with the LG blueray disc player that I purchased also from Best Buy enhances the movie quality. The movie it self is action packed from beginning to the end. if you move out of your seat you will miss something I guarantee. So if youa re into action and graohics you would love this movie. THis move came with DVD-BD-and also a hd Graphic version of the move. It was worth the buy. Thanks Best Buy!!!

This movie is an example of what happens when a director gets a book-movie and tries to cram too much into too short a time frame. As a person who read (and really liked) the book, the movie was disappointing. This movie is a hero origin myth. The story is actually pretty original though it is obvious that the movie makers were hoping to piggy back off of the success of The Hunger Games. Tris is no Katniss, and rightfully so. However, there are two distinct movements in this film, both of which deserve their own treatment. By putting these two movements in the movie, there are important plot points that are lost. Movie goers who see this movie without having read the book will be lost. Those who have read the book will be disappointed. There are too many connecting ideas that never make it into the movie and therefore make it very difficult to follow. That is really disappointing considering the acting in the film. The acting is pretty good all around. Tris and her mother are pretty spot on. Her father and brother are mostly forgotten, but they do a good job with the few lines they received. Four misses some cues, but I think the problem is the script, not the actor. The casting was good, though; they were all believable in their roles and mostly looked the part. If this were the third part of a trilogy, they would have split this movie into two movies to try and tell the whole story. They should have done this here, too. The script is simply not up to the demands of the source material. It is a shame that they wasted the story and the direction on this outline sketch of a movie.

I was a little worried about getting this film seeing how good the movie previews where on tv but I am sooooo happy I bought this film, it was wonderful. If you enjoyed The Hunger Games you will love Divergent It had action,romance,& more action, heart jumping blood pumping action and if it stays true to the book series,I truely hope the next films will only get better & better with more & more action...and romance. I recommend you get this movie now.

First this is a great movie with a good story line. Can not wait for the rest of the series to come out. Second ..the decision to buy this at Best Buy. Started to get this at a major online retailer but they did not have the Blu-Ray, DVD and digital together. Got this at Best Buy so got all three formats, the metal case and reward points all for what just the Blu-Ray would have been at the other site. Can not go wrong getting this at Best Buy.

Another interesting take wherein a certain bunch of people who think they know better than the rest of us because they were born into privilege. Sound familiar? In the end it all boils down to the same thing. We're not much better than we were when we lived in caves except we have better hygiene, nicer clothes, and don't have to hunt for our food. I look forward to the sequels much like the Hunger Games (no, I've not read either book series) but I hope it starts to pack more of a punch like the Games

Liked the story however implausible but thought it was well developed and acted. I typically don't like any movie that loses my interest while dveloping the plot. This one kept me intrigued nearly all the way through. I liked the actors and found them believable in their role. Predictability was lower than many of the recent releases. And I am a fan of happy endings and movies that take an uplifting course. Watch it, you'll like it.

I always look at movies that are made from books how they compare to the book. I usually believe the books are better. Yes, Divergent the book is still better but this movie was very well done. I loved it. It was well cast, well adapted, and I highly recommend it to those who read and loved the books and to anyone looking for a good futuristic thriller. I look forward to seeing the 2nd movie from the 2nd book in the series when it comes out.

Most Y.A. movies are ehh with the exception of the hunger games. That being said my wife does not like H.G. but really enjoyed Divergent and I understand why it is well cast and has a good flow to it. The psychological aspect of confronting your fears and desires and having that determine at such a young age the course of your life is of interest as well the thought of conformity. H.G. does it with a little more grit but divergent is a strong 2nd. We are looking forward to Insurgent.

The sequel picks up with action just like the first movie left off. The 4K HDR in color and imagery are very noticeable especially the scenes with Tris. It has a yellow tint that stands out. The audio is exceptional on the sequel.It has the 4K UHD's DTS:X mix. If you have sound system to appreciate this you will be immensely impressed and satisfied. Overall great movie action movie and storyline.

For serious collector of movies, I would recommend the Steelbook packaging. It is sturdy compared to the plastic cases that a blu-ray usually has. I have a toddler and a lot of DVDs have been broken because she would step on those plastic cases. As for the movie, If you like Hunger Games then you would like this one too. The genre and storyline is almost the same, with a little mix of Ender's game. Overall I like what I bought.

Overall, the story had a good plot and was well worth watching. There were a few plot issues, but nothing major. My only gripe with the movie (spoiler ahead) is that they allowed the woman who was trying to kill everyone to live. I know they were following the book, but it would have made more sense to somehow have her escape instead of having them just let her go, even though they knew she would just try again to kill everyone.

I really liked the protagonists in this movie. I also felt the antagonists were first rate, and I really did learn to hate them. There is a great story line that is followed, but I don't really think a culture of factions based on a single personality trait is practical. But wherever there is a despot, you will have tyranny such as this. There will always be sheep, and therefore , wolves.

I loved this movie. So nice to see movies following the book series these days. There were a few things either missing or changed, but not enough to change the plot. One character was left out completely, but in my opinion, a very minimal thing and could've been left out of the book as well. The actors did an awesome job depicting the characters. Overall, extremely pleased. Cannot wait for the second one to be released!
