As a long-time photographer, I'd considered dipping a toe into the world of drones for some time. But there seemed to be two classes of UAVs: cheap toys that would be more trouble than fun, and overpriced behemoths that required FAA registration and a big case to lug around. Enter the DJI Mini 2. It's not cheap, but for what you get, it's absolutely worth it for both first-time drone owners and those looking for an upgrade. Pros: Size and weight mean it's easy to carry around anywhere, and no FAA registration required. 12MP/4k camera is excellent for its size, and the gimbal is generally rock solid. OcuSync 2 makes for reliable connections and long range. Batteries give good flight time--I generally get 25 minutes or so per battery. Remote is solid and easy to use, and the DJI Fly app is very good for both navigation and adjusting settings on the fly (pun intended). Critically, for first-time drone pilots, the Mini 2 is super easy to fly and lends confidence quickly. And the built-in QuickShots provide an easy way to get interesting video shots while you learn to create your own moves. Cons: The small size is a drawback when it comes to keeping the drone in sight--it doesn't have to go far before it becomes hard to spot! The lack of collision sensors means you do have to be careful about obstacles. And I do wish it had a proper follow-tracking mode, but DJI currently saves that for its higher-end models. Overall, if you're interested in getting a small, easy-to-use photo/video drone as your first or an upgrade from a toy-level UAV, the Mini 2 is definitely my recommendation. Absolutely amazing how far this tech has come in the past few years. Oh, and definitely spring for the Fly More Kit. You will DEFINITELY want the two extra batteries, and the bank charger and case are quite nice.

I’ll start by saying that I have never used a drone and I had some expectations that the Mavic Mini 2 would be relatively easy to use. Safe to say that this drone is incredibly user friendly. Out of the box, I did a firmware update, and watching a few YouTube videos, I went to the FAA website and set up as a recreational flyer. Although I didn’t need to, I figured I would since I eventually would like to be under Part 107. I watched Alien Drones on YouTube “How to fly a drone anywhere” video which gave an incredible amount of detail into planning your drone flight and taking the necessary safety/aviation awareness precautions. I highly recommend the steps listed in this video. I also downloaded the B4UFLY and Kittyhawk apps for flight planning. Off the ground, the Mavic Mini 2 is incredibly stable, and super easy to fly. The controls are incredibly sensitive and even subtle movement can be achieved with practice. Whenever I would be concerned about unintended movement, such as, when the flying the drone towards you, and the controls are reversed, I would release the controls and the drone would immediately stop and remain stationary at the current altitude. This would give me time to get my bearings and adjust the controls to get the indented movement/direction. Being that I’ve never operated a drone before, I have no frame of reference to compare it to but if I were to design an entry level drone, the Mavic Mini 2 would be it everything I would want. The features and technology packed into this small little package seems to me amazing. It does not have all the features of some other DJI drones, it does pack an incredible amount of value. If I could have one feature thats missing in this package, it would be the ability to program waypoints. Weighing in at 238 grams, it puts you well below the max weight of 250 grams, putting you in Part 107 territory. Even with an ND filter (1 gram, you’re still at around 239 gram. If you decided to pop on an anti collision light for dusk/twilight flight, you will probably be at, or just over 250 grams. The video quality of the Mavic Mini 2 is fantastic. I shot a few videos already and posted them on YouTube and many people have said they cannot believe how good the quality is considering the size of the camera. I purchased the fly more combo and I think it is a must have. On the first flight, I went into the second battery and I feel its nice knowing you have back up batteries in case you need to extend your flight time. Things I liked the most about the Fly More Combo; Extra Batteries Battery Charger (Holds and charges 3 batteries) Soft Case Accessories I purchased; RC-N1 Tablet Holder Longer 90º USB-C to 90º Lightning Cable (for use with ipad) Freewell Standard Day ND/PL Filters Sandisk Extreme microSD Card 256gb (128gb is more than enough) DJI Care (1 year 2 occasions repair/replacement) If you’re looking for an entry level drone that packs some serious technological punch, this is it. As far as purchasing from BestBuy, I’m completely satisfied. I used my birthday bonus to bring down the price significantly. The shipping time was excellent considering how popular these drones are. Being that DJI is on the US Government’s naughty list, I would suggest buying one sooner than later. Should a ban be put in place, inventory could be limited and the prices will almost certainly be higher due to supply and demand.

The word 'Awesome' when describing this drone and its capabilities, falls so short of describing how great it is! Lighter than my cell phone, with better video than I can get with a tripod on the ground, but it is so stable, even in windy conditions, the mini 2 is like having a camera on a 300 foot tall tripod. Capable of so many great things, but only a third of the cost of the top consumer level DJI drones. Flying is great and so easy to do compared to previous drone of another brand. It has been so forgiving that when I accidentally hit a power line at about 30 feet high, it started to fall, but corrected itself and kept flying. After dozens of flights, I'm still using the original set of quiet props. Signal is superb along with range. Batteries are great, glad the fly-more combo came with 3 to get more flights in. Whether using a phone or tablet, controls are easy and consistent. And after updating the firmware, got the bonus of zoom! Photo below is cropped to 1/3 width and height. So nice..

Excellent product for getting into the hobby without breaking the bank, great flying time and high quality and elegant casing that maximizes portability of the entire kit. Comes with plenty of replacement props and other things can fly and display a smooth live video feed over around 1-2 km from takeoff zone, even in urban/city environments! Overall great product, would recommend for people trying not to break the bank or entering the hobby.

This was my first drone and a great choice for both beginners and experienced drone pilots. Very easy to setup and fly. The fly more kit is a great added value as you will need everything included and will save you a lot over separate pricing. The flight control and connection to your phone is very smooth. Anyone can fly this drone under the right conditions. I practiced in a large field the first few times and in no time was harassing the cat with it. It’s small size makes it easy to throw it into my camera bag. It’s quick to setup and get it flying. Battery life is about 22-25 minutes. You may get the advertised thirty minutes if you are just hovering at 100 feet on a calm day and don’t maneuver around much. You get two extra batteries with the fly more kit and will need them. I’m a photographer and I knew the camera has some limitations but I was quite surprised with what it produced. This wouldn’t be my choice of it was just for photography but for overall ease of setup and flying and the small size it’s perfect!

I'll tell you what - this mini quadcopter is one bad mamma-jamma! As a first time drone purchaser and flyer, I was so awed and amazed by the performance, capabilities, and possibilities of my first drone flight that I was vibrating with excitement for hours and days afterwards, and am stoked still to this day, several weeks later. It is not super difficult to set up and get flying, but it will take some studying if it is your first drone purchase and experience, as it was for me, a dude just of retirement age. Should be no problem for a yung person though. I downloaded the app directly from dji, as it has everything you need to fly, map, document, and learn from. And depending on your phone security settings, you may have to disable and re-enable your download permissions to accomodate the dji app, as I had to do. From my age and perspective, initially I felt that the app and all of its instructions and requirements were a tad heavy-handed, and I wondered if I had made a mistake and purchased more drone than I was really ready for, but I powered through the experience and came to realize that this dji mini 2 was the real deal, and a great beginner drone for those who feel like they want more than just a backyard toy. I could easily see myself graduating to a bigger unit if necessary, sitting for the Part 107 certification, and making money as a part time freelance certified drone pilot. The photos and videos that the dji mini 2 takes are just absolutely stunning! I was blown away by the quality and clarity. I actually took all videos by accident my first time out, but was able to obtain stills from the videos, and even the hacked stills were amazing. In my opinion though, and from one who studies technical writing, I must say that I found the manual and quick start card a little capricious in form and nature, and the video tutorials kind of different from what I was used to here in the States, but once I got past that and dialed all the way in, I was mesmerized by the dedication to quality, professionalism, and excellence by the manufacturers at dji. It is a really good product, and might be "called" a mini, but the results are maximal. And one last testament to the power and professionalism of the unit and the accompanying app - I stopped at a field I knew from years prior, not knowing anything yet about airspace restrictions and found myself in Class C airspace. Once I set up and turned on my gps coordinates, the app actually communicated in real time with the airport control tower across the river from where I was, requested and received a 50 ft. height restriction for me, but requiring me to make a yes or no decision to fly or not, enter and send my mobile number, agree to receive a verification code, and send that correct code back to the control tower - all in a five minute time window! Talk about an unexpected adrenaline rush...and then I took flight and got the most incredible footage I EVER got in my 62 years. Wow!!!

I was debating on purchase of this Mini 2 Drone, but technology has definitely been extremely improved since Original DJI Drone.This is amazing drone for size and price and amazing video and picture quality.

I update my Drone from DJI mini to DJI mini 2. It's exactly what I want such as 4K/30fps video, Ocusync 2.0 video transmission, mini 2 can fly farther 10km but not important for me. mini 2 is very stable for strong winds, 4x digital zoom very convenient, taking video and photo are the same button in right hand that I usually use it frequently, less than 249 g so no need to register, Especially, you can take Panorama photo or you can choose 1080, 2.7 and 4k for video, for photo you can select RAW, JPG/RAW...Over all Mini 2 Fly combo is convenient for travel, party, picnic, wedding....I will recommend it to my friends PS: All the pictures I only take JPG

I am so glad we bought this! Takes great, crisp pictures and 4k video. Easy to learn to fly. Really impressive range (we had it over 2 miles away, and it still had good signal strength). Battery easily lasts 20+ minutes, even when the drone is fighting wind. The drone has several "preset" photo options that make it easy to take great photos, even if you barely know what you're doing! The Fly More combo is definitely worth it, as it comes with some extra batteries, a nice carrying and storage case, and some extra parts. I can't wait until I have more free time to learn how to take even better shots!

Capable drone for the price. It provides great performance, image quality and battery life in a compact and affordable package that can take off from just about any surface.

This drone is amazing. If you want to fly a well-made drone but don't want to have to go through getting the certification. This is the drone for you. It has a 6-mile range, a high-quality feel, and is very portable. When the drone is folded, its footprint is no bigger than my cell phone. Also, the battery life is rated for 31 minutes and gets close to that depending on how aggressive you fly. When flying the drone, it is very stable. It doesn't seem like you are flying such a small drone. If you are in the market for a drone, you can't go wrong with this one.

One of the best drones from the DJI brand. This drone does not need FAA certification since it's does not meet the requirements to need the certification. This drone is small, affordable, recommended for beginner flyers and people who want to learn and enjoy every moment of flying and recording 4k videos. It comes with the bundle of a case, additional pieces for the drone if any damage is received while flying. Almost 30 minutes depending weather conditions from each battery, you get about one hour and thirty minutes of fly time.

Best beginner drone to start off with. Amazing camera with good quality for its size. Only thing is that since it’s small if there’s a lot of wind you will difficulty flying it l. Besides that it’s very straight forward, you will just have to get used to the controls.

This Drone is Dope, easy to use and small enough to transport comfortably. Totally worth my time and having the extra batteries makes the experience more enjoyable when learning to pilot the drone. The pictures are iPhone 12 quality and the stability of the drone is crazy to be as small as it is. Honestly it’s an amazing piece of equipment. And I think it’s more apps that allows different options like following the subject but,I can’t speak to that. It’s a go though.

Love this thing... first drone I've owned or EVER flown and I was up and flying in no time. I did finf I needed to purchase a set of ND filters for the camera, as I was having a difficult time getting it to adjust properly as I turned towards and away from the sun. That was a minor inconvenience to me as I bought it for photography and it's already showing me that it's going to be AWESOME for my needs!!! I even painted it, to make it more visible...

Extremely impressed with this drone. After working with other brands at lower price points. Going with this Mavic Mini 2 was a huge step in quality and assurance. It just works and I never think it won’t. The app and drone are intuitive, simple to use, and are a breeze to work with. Great mid level/starter drone. Amazing result every time.

this drone is exactly what I was looking for. its 4k camera actually looks 4k. its range is the best I've seen and I've owned about 10 drones. this is the most expensive one yet but its well worth it. if it goes out of rang the mini 2 will come back automatically. and I'm talking about this baby will land itself exactly where it took of from. its impressive. the battery life 30 minutes per and it comes with 3. the remote has a rechargeable battery. with the price of quality AA's that's definitely a big deal to me. there charging dock has 4 indicator lights per battery slot so you know which bat. is fully charged and which are charging still. I could go on and on about this drone but ill end with saying, if you take your hands off the remote this mini 2 will hold it position regardless of wind or momentum. final final comment; the 4k camera is on a 3 axis gimbal that can look striaght ahead or straight down and all the angles in between. I have nothing negative to say about this drone. the price is steep but in life you get what you pay for. buy this drone if you're in the market. you won't regret it.

Definitely the best priced drone on the market at it's time. Clear images, smooth cinematic video, hoover in place gps tracking, 4x zoom. Also easy to fly and maneuver. There is no obstacle avoidance unlike its spark predecessor but the mini2 has better stability and connection.

This is an awesome DJI quad/drone. Very beginner friendly. I had my wife fly it and my niece (7 years old). Neither had any previous experience. The setup time was very quick. Would have been quicker of at least one of the batteries had a decent charge on it. To clarify what comes with the the Fly More combo: -Drone itself -3 batteries -Charge hub -Extra set of props -Different cables for connecting the transmitter to your phone -USB C cable for charging and the charge brick -Bag -mini screwdriver for replacing the props -transmitter -instruction manual -prop holder for the drone while they’re installed on it -gimbal protector There’s a lot of stuff!!! This is an amazing deal. I was really surprised when I got it. High quality images and video. Very stable 4K video at 30fps. Download the DJI Fly App. No others will work with it. I already tried. All in all an amazing value for a fantastic, reliable, super stable product. Get it. You won’t regret it.
