Title: Best low-light action cam I've owned
Review:
Great low-light upgrade. The bigger 1/1.1" sensor and f/2 - f/4 variable aperture make night and indoor video much cleaner than my last action cam. Battery goes about 4 hours at 1080p, and the 50GB built-in storage saved me when I forgot my card. Stabilization is excellent. Downsides: tops out at 4K (GoPro does 5.3K), image can be a bit over-sharpened, and the mount is fiddly. If you shoot a lot at dusk/night or need vertical 4K, it's worth it.
Pros: low-light, battery life, built-in storage, vertical 4K
Cons: no 5.3K, aggressive processing

Was very on the fence about buying this with the new GoPro (Mission 1 Pro) about to release and the possibility of a new DJI camera coming out at the end of the year.
Ask yourself this: do I actually need 8K video for any reason and am I willing to deal with storing massive file sizes? If the answer is NO, then you might as well save a few hundred dollars and buy the DJI Action 6 or a GoPro Hero 13. And, I would recommend one of those 2 over previous models for plenty of little technicalities I’m not going to get into here as they depend on your use case.
I’ve been using this camera for diving and mountain biking with impressive results!
For mountain biking, I have it inside a SmallRig metal case with that connected to a Stuntman chest mount and definitely recommend that setup. You’ll also want to get the DJI FOV Boost Lens if you want to film in square and crop twice for both social media and YouTube (9:16 and 16:9), but if you don’t mind filming twice you don’t need it and just use Rocksteady (not rocksteady+) with camera set to Ultrawide + 4K 30fps. Some people also get an ND filter so they can crank up the shutter for more motion blur and run 60/120fps for better slomo in post, but I haven’t felt any need for that.
For diving I can only recommend the official DJI dive case and floating handle as that’s what I’ve bought (didn’t wanna risk the cheap ones on Amazon) and it’s working great! I still need to buy a case for the accessories and currently just put a sock over the dive case while I’m not in the water so the clear plastic that sits in front of the camera lens doesn’t get scratched or anything.
I did buy a screen protector pack on Amazon for like $10 and am glad I did because all sort of little rocks can be flying around using this camera mountain biking or if you plan to ride on the streets on a motorcycle, car mount, etc. I didn’t put on the lens protector that came with as I didn’t want to reduce the quality of my recordings but at least it’s relatively cheap, quick, and easy to unscrew and replace the lens at home if needed.
Battery life has been good! I always bring all 3 charged batteries with me anytime I take the camera out, but I haven’t yet burned through more than maybe half of a battery in one session yet. Will be good to have the extras for times like camping trips though where I’d like to avoid having to recharge anything.

Made My Phone Feel Like a Real Camera Setup

I originally bought the DJI Osmo Mobile 6 because I wanted smoother, more professional-looking videos without having to carry around a full camera setup, and it has honestly changed the way I shoot with my phone. I’ve used it for everything from everyday videos to filming content for my electric surf adventures, where being able to quickly unfold it, mount my phone, and start recording is a huge advantage.
What impressed me most is how much of a difference the stabilization makes. Walking shots that would normally have that obvious handheld bounce come out noticeably smoother, and the tracking feature is especially useful when I’m filming by myself. Instead of constantly stopping to reposition the camera, I can actually move around and concentrate on what I’m doing while the gimbal helps keep the shot framed.
I also really like the built-in extension rod. I originally thought it would be one of those features I rarely used, but it has become one of my favorites because it opens up angles that would otherwise require another person or additional equipment. The controls are intuitive once you spend a little time with them, and the whole thing folds down small enough that I’m much more likely to actually bring it with me.
It isn’t completely effortless—there is a small learning curve if you’ve never used a gimbal before, and getting comfortable with all the shooting modes takes some experimenting. But that experimentation is also part of what makes it fun. I find myself thinking more creatively about movement, angles, and transitions instead of simply pointing my phone at something and recording.
The best compliment I can give the Osmo Mobile 6 is that it doesn’t just stabilize my phone; it makes me want to go out and create more. For something compact enough to throw in a bag, it adds a surprising amount of capability to a device I already carry every day. It has become one of those pieces of gear that I bought thinking it would be useful occasionally and ended up using far more than I expected.

This little camera has made me find a long lost passion for photography, even though it is an action camera, it has so many great features, and packs such a great sensor, that the best part is the versatility it brings. A real joy to use.

It directly syncs videos via an app to your phone. I'm loving the quality over GoPro & insta. The dji even comes with internal storage so you can get some clips before finding an sd card. My favorite feature is the motorcycle presets. The stabilization is insane... I spend quite a bit playing with the settings, and found nothing tops the motorcycle preset during the day!!

The DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard Camera Combo is a strong choice for journalists who need a compact, reliable camera capable of delivering broadcast-quality footage in demanding environments. Its excellent image stabilization, sharp 4K video, and impressive low-light performance make it ideal for breaking news, field reporting, and fast-paced documentary work. The dual touchscreens also make it easy to frame stand-ups or self-recorded pieces without carrying additional gear.
What stands out most from a reporting perspective is its durability. The camera is waterproof, rugged, and built to handle rain, dust, and unpredictable conditions while remaining small enough to fit in a pocket. Combined with long battery life and quick startup, it's a dependable backup—or even a primary camera—for journalists working in the field who need to capture the moment without slowing down.

The Hand Gesture Feature is a Game Changer!

This camera exceeded expectations while capturing BTS footage for a documentary project. Both my client and I were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional video clarity it delivered. The intuitive start/stop recording controls made the entire filming process seamless and stress-free. What truly stood out to me, however, was the hand gesture feature...an absolute game-changer when the camera was mounted to the window, allowing us to control recordings without ever having to physically reach the device. Highly recommend for any professional or creative filming needs.

The battery life on this thing is unmatched. Took it ziplining and my sister’s Go Pro ran out of battery halfway through while mine still had juice well after the trip. Quality of video is great too!

With this they have a 1x1 sensor and it now can do 8k @ 30fps. The variable aperture is a nice feature that helps in low light situations.
