DJI - Osmo Action 6 Standard Camera Combo - Black

Was very on the fence about buying this with the new GoPro (Mission 1 Pro) about to release and the possibility of a new DJI camera coming out at the end of the year. Ask yourself this: do I actually need 8K video for any reason and am I willing to deal with storing massive file sizes? If the answer is NO, then you might as well save a few hundred dollars and buy the DJI Action 6 or a GoPro Hero 13. And, I would recommend one of those 2 over previous models for plenty of little technicalities I’m not going to get into here as they depend on your use case. I’ve been using this camera for diving and mountain biking with impressive results! For mountain biking, I have it inside a SmallRig metal case with that connected to a Stuntman chest mount and definitely recommend that setup. You’ll also want to get the DJI FOV Boost Lens if you want to film in square and crop twice for both social media and YouTube (9:16 and 16:9), but if you don’t mind filming twice you don’t need it and just use Rocksteady (not rocksteady+) with camera set to Ultrawide + 4K 30fps. Some people also get an ND filter so they can crank up the shutter for more motion blur and run 60/120fps for better slomo in post, but I haven’t felt any need for that. For diving I can only recommend the official DJI dive case and floating handle as that’s what I’ve bought (didn’t wanna risk the cheap ones on Amazon) and it’s working great! I still need to buy a case for the accessories and currently just put a sock over the dive case while I’m not in the water so the clear plastic that sits in front of the camera lens doesn’t get scratched or anything. I did buy a screen protector pack on Amazon for like $10 and am glad I did because all sort of little rocks can be flying around using this camera mountain biking or if you plan to ride on the streets on a motorcycle, car mount, etc. I didn’t put on the lens protector that came with as I didn’t want to reduce the quality of my recordings but at least it’s relatively cheap, quick, and easy to unscrew and replace the lens at home if needed. Battery life has been good! I always bring all 3 charged batteries with me anytime I take the camera out, but I haven’t yet burned through more than maybe half of a battery in one session yet. Will be good to have the extras for times like camping trips though where I’d like to avoid having to recharge anything.

This little camera has made me find a long lost passion for photography, even though it is an action camera, it has so many great features, and packs such a great sensor, that the best part is the versatility it brings. A real joy to use.
