Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Ronin-S Essentials Kit's ease of use, intuitive operation, and impressive stabilization capabilities, resulting in smooth footage. Many appreciate its compatibility with various cameras and its long battery life. However, some users find the kit somewhat heavy and challenging to balance, particularly with heavier camera setups.

    Excellent Gimbal for DSLR

I have typically used standard rigs for DSLR filming. After using this, I will never go back. I have been able to add more dramatic cinematic shots to my compositions, and I have done it with ease. On top of this, outside of its versatility for filming, I have now moved into some dramatic motion and time lapse images that open my creative lens even further. The free accompanying DJI Ronin software is easy to use and intuitive for integration. The only drawback, if any, is that sometimes the app and gimbal will lose connection. This isn’t much of a problem, but if youre standing in the rain or working quick to catch an approaching storm or sunrise, you have to have your technology skills on point. I highly recommend this gimbal and DJI’s support and web presence are a welcome complement.

The Ronin-S works great for smooth video but it was harder than expected to balance the camera and you can’t have your camera follow you without buying some attachments and having a smart phone which was a disappointment.

Love the Ronin S. It is a wonderful gimbal and easy to use. Worth the price. I can link it to my Eos Rp with the cable purchased separately. Shot a couple of promo videos with it, and other professional videos with it.

No lie, this was difficult to balance on the fly. I don’t recommend trying to do it last minute for an event. Once we got it though, it works smooth as butter. Nice transitions and very smooth.

This is for my wife. She has used it at least 5 or 6 times already, and it does what it is supposed to do. I have tried it out real quick and it is really nice. Though I would suggest you read the manual and of course there are a lot of YouTube videos for this model also. With that said I also read another review about updating the software that operates this device. I would suggest you look into that and update it, my wife chooses not to do this for now.... Myself, ALWAYS update software if you can. The update is most likely because of issues or improvements for the product! ugh....

Please know how and why a gimbal is used before you buy it. It will not make your footage smooth in all shots but it will help get the shake out of your shots. Also know that this is not light, it will take a toll on you after a day of shooting. But with all that said, this is a fantastic gimbal. This will help take your videos to the next level and make them look more professional. The fine adjust is great and making major adjustments is intuitive and easy. The features are well thought out. Highly recommend if you are in need of a DLSR gimbal.

I am a Ronin Fan, and love the products I own a Ronin M and purchased this hand held for more in depth and closer shots for weddings. If you purchase one, make sure you follow these directions: 1) Charge the Ronin First 2)Place a payload and prebalance 3) Turn on Cell phone and download the Ronin App 4)Turn On Ronin ( a blinking green light will softly appear at the top) 5)Run the app and bluetooth pairing to your Ronin, and then activate with your cell phone 6) Ronin will turn on fully with bright green light Auto Tune your Ronin and Payload. You do NOT get those instructions from Ronin... Many people have complained that their Ronin's were DOA..but this is the reason for that. I love it..make sure you use a heavy enough lens for the payload..motors are really strong.

The jury is still out for me on this and I'm not sure whether I regret my purchase or not. It's likely user error but for one I can't get the pan axis to level. In addition, none of my video has been smooth. You can see the camera bouncing or moving up and down. There are a lot of features but so far I've had to buy/add a monitor, mounting bracket, camera cable, camera cable adapter and possibly a focus knob if I can ever figure out if it's compatible with my camera without the focus motor or not. I wanted a gimbal so I'm not sure I would've bought a different one. This is my first experience with one so again it might just be user error, but so far I'm not particularly enjoying it. From all the videos I've watched about it, it's supposed to be amazing. I just haven't figured out how to make it amazing for me just yet. I have a canon 5d Mark iii but almost would've preferred to go mobile gimbal and just use my iPhone. Those seem to be WAAAYYYY easier to use and shoot 4k. You aren't going to use much aperture on these because you can't guarantee you will keep the same distance from the subject so the camera doesn't really play as much of a role anymore in your video. I probably would not buy it again and if someone would buy it off me right now for what I paid for it, I would gladly let them take it off my hands.

Hands down the best gimble I ever used. It works with heavy cams and my light mirrorless ones. I strongly suggest using this over the new ronin that can’t hold heavy weight capacity’s

I watched this thing 'go crazy' while doing an update, calibrating, etc. It was not fun seeing 2K worth of gear go flying to the floor. Luckily all is ok. So be careful when the Ronin S is on the floor using the tripod. The latest update works well now with my new Canon 90D, The app controls the shutter/video great! Overall I love using the Ronin S, it is a solid piece of equipment.

ok, first time gimbal user but long time photographer. this was a pain to set up and calibrate, and if you want to use the storage box it came with you will have to completely recalibrate each use. overall it works well with my Canon 80D. skip the essentials kit and get the ronin-s if you want the focus wheel and camera control cables, but otherwise this is perfect for real estate walk throughs.

Very difficult to set up and balance cameras. Tedious process that I’m sure will get easier with time. Haven’t used them in the field yet, so their performance is yet to be determined but so far we are impressed! Just disappointed the Essentials kit didn’t come with the infrared sensor. Could’ve purchased separately but didn’t realize we needed it to control the record function on the gimbal.

DJI is well known for being the top tier for video and drone pieces. I purchased this thinking I was going to be doing a ton more video than I actually do. Very good quality unit, however setup is a bit of a pain, and honestly havent used it all that much due to not actually needing to shoot super stable video.
