    Witty and funny Rom-Com

Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his directorial debut with a witty and funny atypical romantic comedy. Levitt plays Jon but his friends call him (Don) because of his remarkable talent for picking up women. Despite his ease with charming women his most intimate moments comes from watching women on the internet. Which he indulges himself to the point of addiction. Why? It appears real women can't meet his high expectations the way the internet can. After all, real women have real problems, real issues and real needs. All things that will disrupt his ideal lifestyle. Being self-absorbed Jon does all things with vigor including going to the gym, going to church and having Sunday dinner with his family. His family is wonderfully portrayed by Tony Danza, Glenn Headly, and Brie Larson. Jon's objectification of women takes a different turn when he meets Barbara (Scarlett Johannson). Jon labels her a "true 10" and he finally has to put in some effort to land the lady that has caught his attention. It turns out Barbara is as firmly selfish and ambitious as Jon is narcissistic. She insists Jon go to school, get a better job and get a cleaning lady. Barbara's vision and treatment of their relationship runs parallel to a romantic comedy. Can two self absorbed people be a match made in heaven? While in school Jon meets Esther (Julianne Moore) an older woman whom helps him discover himself anew. Levitt has done himself well here and gave us an atypical Hollywood movie well worth watching.

DON JON is a really good film from writer-director-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He plays Jon, a young man with a penchant for adult videos. Although perfectly able to attract several girlfriends, he prefers to watch it simulated on his computer. It is only when he encounters middle-aged widow Esther (Julianne Moore) on his university course that he learns to reform. The film makes great comic play out of the contrast between Jon's appetites and the respectability of his life; he regularly confesses his sins in church and visits his family every week for dinner. .

A really different character than we're used to seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt play. Also, it's more a 2014 new-age dilemma story. It's a fun and quirky plot, that doesn't drag you down too much. The ending is meaningful, and can hopefully open the eyes of a lot of people who might feel the same. I know I'm being a bit vague, but I don't want to ruin the story. I saw it when it was on N-Flix, but still decided to buy it on sale, as I think it is worth having for a good deal.

This is by far my favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie, hands down. The acting here is great and the story is novel and unique. Scarlett Johannsen kills it in the love interest role. I thought it was a little too long (maybe by 5-10 minutes) but that doesn't take away from the movie at all. Special features were just so-so but the picture and sound is great on high definition blu ray. Picked up at BB for a great price too! highly recommended.

I was really surprised how much i liked this movie. Much funnier than i expected. The scenes with the family at the dinner table are absolutely hilarious!!!!! Great chemistry between Joseph Gordon Levitt & Tony Danza. ...Scarlett Johansson is drop dead gorgeous!!!!! In my opinion, the only downside to this movie was the ending, but it is def worth adding to the collection.

This movie, despite all the adult clips in it, is worth watching. Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job in the dual role of actor and director. This was the first time I had ever seen Tony Danza in a movie; his character was good and funny too. Scarlett Johannson...she's so pretty! I loved her in this movie; her character was good too. All in all, very much worth it.

This is a surprising little gem. I expected a somewhat lack luster parody of Don Jaun featuring the exploits and conquests of Don Jon. Gordon-Levitt delivers more and is young actor who is building quite a film resume. Film stars Joesph Gordon-Levitt who also wrote and directed Don Jon. Nice supporting performances by Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore.

JGL first attempt at writing, acting, directing his own movie.. (Original script).. Is a home run! Scarlett Johansson plays a hot manipulator who gets the beat of JGL Tony Danza like you never seen him before.. Kinda of a sleaze. Juliette Moore plays predominately in the second half of the film. Bottom line - See this movie!

One of a few relationship movies that is not a complete chick flick but made primarily from the male perspective. It's written by Mr. Gordon-Levitt, so expect it to be funny with the drama that comes along with the territory. To summarize, a guys journey of growing up, opening up and embracing life - to find happiness.

First off, I got this movie on sale for $11.99. As long as you're not expecting an award winning, life changing, heart-warming feeling in the end, then the movie will suffice. I bought the movie with the not a lot of expectations & came out slightly more entertained than originally thought.

I really enjoyed this film. It had a fresh and realistic look at what a modern relationship could go through. It also has guts to go where not many other films have, and for that reason its definitely a film to check out.

Don Jon was a good effort for a first time director. The characters are interesting and the story goes places you don't expect. Its definitely on the hard side of R and probably not great for a date movie, but worth a watch.

Very entertaining film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt continues to grow as an actor, and is very entertaining in this film. Wouldn't have thought of him for this kind of movie originally, but glad they did. Movie is very enjoyable.

Many people saw the previews and thought.."oh a guy who is addicted to...." but you should expect more than a shallow thoughtless romp. Knowing Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his wide range of past roles, it was obvious his written/directorial debut would be nothing less than thought-provoking and moving with real character growth and a solid story. Don Jon is a really serious drama coupled with a bit of crass humor but it is entirely loveable. It is an interesting commentary on modern relationships and about learning to not let "what you expect" from love keep you from finding happiness in "what you have"

Not bad for JGL first directorial debut. The actors were pretty funny and the situations were definitely insane. In the end it had a pretty good story at heart. I would for sure recommend this movie to everyone.

This is a late night comedy type movie, but there was actually a decent plot to it and there was something to learn. There was a more realistic feel to this movie than a lot of the other late night comedies.
