This is a great game, just like Tropical Freeze, super unique and fun.

If you are a fan of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy from the SNES, you’ll enjoy this game. It’s your classic 2D side scrolling platformer, with a 3D effect to it. The reason for not rating it 5 stars is because it is a little expensive for just being a Wii/3DS game with just improved graphics, but still fun.

Brings back all the memories of playing donkey kong as a kid but has nice modern graphics. Super fun, haven’t put the game down since I got it! 10/10 recommend!
Still feels like the Original but that Price? Eesh

Aside from the $60 USD price tag being. Bit criminal, the game stoll holds up well after many many years. The they used the 3DS version as the base template for the game, and looks very nice in 1080p. The game runs smooth without issues. I haven't tried the co-op mode yet but I didn't hear too many great things the split co-op mode. The game is fairly challenging, which is a plus in this day and age seeing as how most other games are fairly too easy the days. If you love old school platformers like the original DK County trilogy or games similar to them, this game is for you. Crazy to belive this game is harder than it's successor, and came out at the end of the Nintendo Switch's lifespan just as the Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced recently from the time of this post. How was it a gamecube remaster of Metroid Prime was cheaper than this (at $40 USD)? Nintendo. Do better
TLDR; performance: 9
Graphics: 9
Soundtrack: 10
Story : basic (7)
Price: could have been $40 USD instead.
Best to buy on sale if there ever is one.

This classic game is still one of the best that Nintendo has ever put out. It’s a tradition of mine to play it all the way through every single year and I’m glad it’s now available on the Switch. I am glad the Switch 2 has backwards compatibility so I will continue to play it on the new platform as well. I am really hoping for a brand new Donkey Kong Country one day but this one never gets old.

Return to the Jungle again with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in a HD remaster of the original Wii game from 2010. Donkey Kong must retrieve his banana hoard again, this time from the Tiki tribe who also took control of the animals. It's up to Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to retrieve the bananas and defeat the Tiki tribe.
What's different than the original Donkey Kong trilogy is that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have a health system which is useful. However, that won't stop the challenge and difficulty. The levels can be challenging with tough enemies and tricky platforming. But, you can get items from Cranky Kong's hut where you can buy balloons for extra lives, extra hit points, and a key that unlocks a new path of each world.
The formula is still the same as the previous DKC trilogy, collect letters to spell KONG, collect, bananas and balloons for extra lives, banana coins and so forth. There's also puzzle pieces to find that would unlock special features such as art galleries, music and concept art,
Whether you played it on the original Wii version, 3DS port or never played them before, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a fun and challenging game for old and new Donkey Kong Country fans.

Donkey Kong Country Returns was a nice relaunch for the beloved series and one of the best games released for the Wii. Tight gameplay, great level design, and David Wise’s music make this game worth playing. But make no mistake, it is one of the hardest games you’ll ever play, so you’ll have to learn from constant trial and error. Also, I don’t like that this is a full-priced port of a 14-year-old game so I’d recommend buying it on sale. Still a great game though.

As i fan of previous DKC games, i was excited to hear this was being ported to the switch. I didnt get to play the Wii version, so this did feel like a new game to me. Levels get difficult and really fun at the same time. More kid friendly as there is a small health bar and checkpoints. The co op is ok, wish it was more like the old style where you can switch between DK and Diddy. The HD remaster was well done and looked great on my big screen and OLED switch. If you already played the Wii version, i say wait for this to go on sale.

I know loads of people are giving this game low ratings because it plays like the original Wii game. However, its my first time playing this Donkey Kong game (never had a Wii or 3DS) and it is amazing! The graphics, music, and levels are all top notch!

Good re-port of an old game. If you havent played it on the old console might be worth adding to your collection if you like donkey kong. Graphics look nice and controls are pretty smooth.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is a great game. I played it earlier on the Wii and it's still great on the Switch. Its a very tough platformer but a lot of fun to play!

As someone who had never experienced the game before on prior Nintendo consoles and loving Tropical Freeze (Switch) - I wanted to add DK Returns to my Switch collection. I am glad I got it and it doesn't disappoint. Great courses, fun boss battles and different modes so everyone gets to play at whatever experience level.

Classic DK loved it. I get the price point is upsetting and it’s just a remastered Wii game. But it still gives great vibes of when DK finally made his return back in the spotlight. Loved the game its sequel and looking forward to the Switch 2 game. If you haven’t played this games it’s a must if you love platformer’s.

This game is amazing. It's very similar to tropical freeze and I love that it's Co-op as well! The final boss is pretty ridiculous in terms of difficulty, but I guess that's what's to be expected from a Donkey Kong game.
