The game is essentially a Minecraft style game with quests. I love seeing the little monsters and think this game has enough new elements to keep my interest.
Due to the corona virus I've had extra time to play games and have already put about 24 hours into the game in the last couple weeks. Still really enjoying it and it's also very relaxing (not high stress). Now there are some tougher monsters you encounter that present some challenge, but you can kite and let your buddy take some aggro. Looking forward to where this game goes.

For the most part I really enjoyed the game. The story was deeper than the first one. However, what you had to build for progression was set in stone more than the first. There is a little bit of leeway to add what you'd like.
Overall the free building was fun.

Fantastic entry to the Dragon Quest Builders series. This is the second and latest game in the DQ Builders series which is a Minecraft Clone with DQ Storytelling and magic. This time the whole world ties into one and are connected. The first game has worlds dedicated to chapters and all used separate saves. This one is different and there are no speedruns required to do for trophy hunters. It’s an easy platinum too.

I wasn’t too big a fan of Minecraft and that being said, I was a bit hesitant in purchasing this game. However, After playing it, I was sucked in. The gameplay is refreshing and fun and the characters actually managed to squeeze a chuckle or two out of me, mocking the protagonist. There’s puzzles located around the map, if quests or even side quests aren’t your thing. There’s definitely something for everyone!
There is one con, so far, that I’ve noticed. The option to place blocks is just like the game; blocky. I frequently catch my self placing and then destroying the same block, as I had placed the block in the wrong place. I’m sure with time this gets easier, but out of the gate it isn’t the easiest to get used to.

I enjoyed the original Dragon Quest Builders and eagerly anticipated the sequel. From what I’ve played so far, this game is a solid improvement over the original, I’ve enjoyed exploring the areas in the game and enjoy the gathering materials and building new structures. My biggest complaint is i wish the combat was more advanced. I do like that it isn’t turn based, but i do wish it had more depth, such as blocking and strafing.

Bought for my son but haven't really seen him play. Graphics and story looked good and the first one was hard to find. Not sure about game play. The ads made it seem appealing as an Anime "Minecraft".

Fans of the first installment will love the sequel. It includes virtually every tool the first offered along with an entire game-sized addition worth of content on top. Tons of changes to the user interface, all for the better. Lots of quality of life changes, a great multiplayer and social community system - lots of people seem to be sleeping on this one. Don't be one of 'em.

Minecraft meets Mario, the perfect pairing of form and function, enough to sink your teeth into and get lost for hours. This game has it all, building, farming, friendships, cats, and dogs! Expect to spend a lot of time exploring everything, not to mention playing with friends!

If you enjoy Minecraft style games this game will be right up your alley. It has a more traditional story mode with missions but the dragon quest charm and building fun is great. Highly recommend! We have this on the switch and PS4 now, its great on both, but the 60FPS target on the PS4 Pro makes for a very nice experience.

It's Minecraft meets Dragon Quest. The game is sandbox-like, where you take on mini quests that involve building structures, fetch quests, defending territory, and other standard gaming fare. The game is set in the world of the original Dragon Quest II/Dragon Warrior II, from the days of the MSX and Famicom/NES.

Great RPG with heavy building elements. This game takes the building mechanic to a new level with crazy innovations and boundless potential. If you can think of something you can build it in this game. The combat and progression are fun in this game and how much you build depends on how much you enjoy it.

This game takes everything that was good about the first and then takes it to the next level. Bigger worlds, more control, more features, and added network features make this a must have for fans of the original. Looks and runs beautifully.

Let's make this simple. DQ Builders = Minecraft + RPG mechanics
The sequel though focuses super heavy on its story and characters. If you are one to get invested in such things as I was you are in for an absolute treat of a blocky rpg.
