This movie is gem from the 19-eighties, Perhaps underrated? It's good quality writing, story telling, filming locations, and has well cast actors. The most notable is the special effects. The practical effects are nothing short of remarkable, back then or now. The Wyvern/dragon modeling has been an inspiration and literal model for many big name modern movies and video games, save for some minor rough motion (which is no more unrealistic or eyesore than the hyper smooth motion of CGI) I dare say the practical effects are superior and more realistic than the modern CGI, especially which is so over used these days. The same format, where the monster comes out and does the predictable big roar before the big battle. Honestly that got old fast. I believe that is a testament to the laziness and lack vision and inspiration with modern movie makers. This film is a must have for anyone's collection.

I have been waiting for this film to hit home video in an acceptable format since before dirt was invented (AFAIK, the best available was a non-anamorphic DVD... and an import at that). When then UHD was announed, I was floored (but cautious). This disk is beyond what I was hoping for! The A/V is second-to-none, and the fact that it is pressed in the German plant (thus avoiding the damage inherent in anything from from the Mexican plant) is just an added plus! Highly recommended!

A title that has long been under-appreciated in Paramount’s catalogue, Dragonslayer finally gets the pristine transfer it deserves. This Disney co-production features the most impressive dragon to ever be depicted on screen, and every detail is lovingly captured in this release.

This 4K is excellent. Classic Dragon genre film. Well conceived, well acted, visually excellent considering its era. This transfer seems well executed to me. Many of the shots of flame and sorcery are stunning. The dragon holds up really well. Impressive.

Beautifully restored transfer of this 80s fantasy classic. There are also some substantial special features included which, sadly, isn't something all vthat common these days from studio releases. Also includes a 4K digital code that can be redeemed via Vudu or Apple. Highly recommended!

Yes i know it has cheese graphics compared to todays billion dollar movies. Yet, if we are honest, better storyline then most of those same billion dollor movies.

Dragonslayer is a beautifully filmed movie from 1981. The colors and detail in the movie is outstanding. The Dolby Atmos audio is a beast.

The picture and sound quality of this new 4K transfer of a beloved classic exceeded expectations at every level. Grain is EXTREMELY well managed considering the age of this movie, even the most challenging shots of dark scenes, smoke, mist, etc. Perfect amount to maintain the original filmic quality but never distracting. Very impressive, I have fallen in love with this movie all over again! You can tell Paramount put lots and lots of TLC into this one. Images are incredibly sharp with tons of exquisite detail apparent. The Dolby Vision HDR is excellent and really makes the colors pop, particularly highlighted in any of the outdoor scenes with the lush green hues of landscape in the background. Sound quality is superior throughout. The Dolby Atmos mix is wonderfully encompassing (you will notice almost immediately the submersive sounds of the crows cawing and flying above the castle in the opening scenes). Plenty of LFE but just when needed/appropriate, never overwhelming and always well balanced. Dialogue is crystal clear throughout. This is a gem of a 4K!
