Many also highlight the affordable price point and the convenience of the remote control. However, a significant drawback reported by customers is the battery life, with some experiencing issues with charging and longevity.

Get a Drift HD over GoPro, Contour - here's why...

I have used or borrowed GoPro & Contour cameras. They both have their benefits - if you can afford all their accessories. That's one reason why I went with Drift - you get the same Full 1080p HD footage (and 9MP still images), but they give you way more right out of the box. The only equipment that I purchased after the camera was an external mic (not necessary, just nice. The on-board mic is equal in quality to any other outdoor action camera I've used. I usually use the external mic when I conduct interviews at work).
The Drift comes with an LCD screen that you use as a viewfinder to set up shots so you know what you're gonna get before recording. And you also use it to access all the menu and filming options (tons of options, but user interface is super easy to navigate). It also comes with a remote control which makes it so much easier to start and stop filming than taking off my gloves and fumbling with the button on the casing.
Another reason I prefer this camera over alternatives is it seems like they created it after listening to customers suggestions. The rotating lens is awesome because you don't have to unmount the camera and adjust the angles for every scene or take. You can leave the camera on the mount and adjust the lens for a different look, and use the LCD screen while doing that to make sure you're gonna catch what you want.
The other big think I really like about this camera is the casing that it is built in. GoPro's basically have to be put in their (aftermarket) protective casings for any real action footage. But Drift is durable as heck without having to go buy extra stuff. It's covered in a rubberized casing which seems to give it a shock absorbing quality, it seems virtually dust-proof so far, and water resistant. I have taken it out skiing a ton and not had any problems with water damage. Scuba diving or other underwater filming might be a different story, I don't know, but having bailed in fresh powder I know it withstands everyday backcountry crud with no problem.
Save yourself the money, get the Drift. There are so many on-board features that you can adjust to various lighting/conditions really quick and you don't need to be a techie to figure it out - they did a good job with this camera and I'm so relieved I went with this one in the end.

Got this camera after the previous type failed right out of the box. Checked other reviews and this camera was perfect for what I wanted it for, and at a nice price. Has a built in screen instead of paying almost $200 more for the GoPro which you have to buy the screen seperately.

Had to look up manual on internet in order to really understand how to use the camera. I still don't have the hang of it yet, have to read more. Took on vacation recently and hated using it because I really don't know how to fully use it yet. Really don't like that picture goes away while filming so you cant see what you're filming, but hoping there might be something in manual that maybe I'm not doing correctly. I also don't like that the viewer doesn't come out.

I charged this thing up and went right to filming with it. It is small enough to strap to anything so I can film hands free.

The first camera I bought had a bad battery. I returned that camera and the company sent me a new battery which worked with the new camera but the sound was terrible. When I called the manufacturer to ask for help, they told me to send it to them to fix or return it to the store. The salespeople warned me not to buy it and I should have listened but then why is Best Buy selling such an inferior camera?????? I returned both cameras and will never buy that brand again.

This was such an amazing purchase. So far, I've been able to get pics at water parks that I could never get with a normal camera. The water proof case is a must for great water pics.

I used this mounted to my head with a head strap walking, and riding in a car. The picture was great. I plan to use it on the rides at Disney World to relive going down Splash Mtg.

Every outing with the Drift has been great. It's easy to set up. It seems to work flawlessly...no problems or bad results so far. I find it more action oriented than audio efficient, but that's what I was looking for...More action than anything else.

The battery would not charge. Wanted to use it as a helmet cam, but useless for that purpose. Tried to exchange it, but the one I bought was the last one in the store. Got my refund and won't try buying one of those again.

Not a versatile camcorder. For action photographers participating in action events. It basically only does wide-angle shooting. You likely need the manual (not included but available online).

So excited changed to so disappointed. It didn't work and I took it back and they didn't have another and was suppose to get one from another store and never did. The good thing is I think they haven't charged it to my card. But I want the product! I can't believe it. It used to be my favorite electronic store.

This is the second action camera that I have purchased. I moved the first one so much that I couldn't pass up such a good deal on another camera.

When I recieved the camera. I took it out of the box. Installed the battery and card. Plugged it on to my computer. The next day I unplugged it and tried to start it. NO GO. Apparently there was something broken in the charging system. The blue light would flash as you inserted the cord but would immediately go out. The camera would not charge. You could power it up while it was plugged in but what fun is that? Returned!!!!!
