After A Rough Launch This Game Is Now Awesome!

Driveclub got off to a rough start at release with online play being messed up and some features being disabled. It has been fixed and now has been smooth online for months. I love arcade racers like Burnout and didn't like driving sims like Forza and Gran Turismo that much. I would say DriveClub is somewhere between the arcade and hard core racing sims. The events are challenging but with practice you will get better at it. As you level up and unlock better cars events that seemd impossible eventually become beatable. I have hit level 50 and my Driveclub is level 27 and I have to say I became addicted to leveling up both. There are Tour events you can do as well as create custom single events. The nice thing about it is you get points for every thing you do: single events, tour events, online events, reach milestones like racing X miles in Y car, etc. If you create or join a Driveclub with up to 5 other drivers, all your points are combined to unlock more cars for everyone in the club. I can't help but feel responsible for pulling my weight with my club and if all members feel the same you can unlock some nice rides and car appearance customization options. The graphics are incredible, especially the weather effects and the tracks are gorgeous!
I invested in the season pass for $25 and the extra content it provides is mind boggling: several new Tours to race through along with new track variations and cars. There is a free version on PSN you can try to see if you like it but with the game approaching a year old it is worth it to buy the full version at a discounted price and to buy the season pass. The developers have given this game more post release support and add-ons then any other game I can remember. overall I have gotten a lot of hours of entertainment from this title.

Gorgeous Graphics, Awesome Experience & Really Fun

I am more of a sim racer(Gran Turismo, PC Sims etc) but this game really caught me off guard. I love it! Controls are similar to, but more finely tuned than, the Grid/Dirt/NFS Shift series.(Personally, for some reason those games couldn't keep my interest very long.) The physics are very consistent and I can't get over the visuals especially since the weather patch came out. The sound patch and free DLC has also made a nice difference. This game feels, looks and sounds truly next gen to me. I highly recommend this if you like nicely tuned, exciting racing experiences with a decent learning curve. Being part of a club and sending and receiving challenges(social stuff) are nice touches as well without getting in the way of the core experience. It's all about being on the track experiencing the race in this game. I'm going to go play it some more...

Drive Club is a great game. Vastly improved since launch. With continued support and content from the developers it's a great time to jump in.
The online issues that were present at launch have been fixed for the most part though but your milage may vary.
It's a cross between arcade and sim. You can't tune your car like other sim racers and it's not jump in and power drift like Ridge Racer. But it's more forgiving when you crash as long as you don't hit the wall head on. And it takes time to learn the tracks and the line to do well. This is even more important due to the new weather effects that were introduced lately, which are amazing. Also the cars handle much differently depending on the weather. And good luck navigating a course in a heavy rain storm in the dead of night if you don't know the track.
One con for me is the need to join a club online with other players or create a club and recruit new members and rank up in those clubs in order to unlock certain cars. Though it is easy to join other clubs and obviously if you're going in with friends this isn't an issue.
Overall it's a great experience that gets even better if you take time to learn the tracks and how each car handles differently in varying conditions.
Also Drive Club has the best visuals of any next gen console.

Overall good but rather average game. Graphics and sound of cars are superb, yet gameplay can get tedious with ai. Multiplayer keeps you coming back with some free dlc. Not worth more than $20. I recommend trying the ps plus version first.

This is a great exclusive racer for the PS4, however the online is a wreck right now. Countless server issues have plagued this from day 1. The single player however is challenging and rewarding. Also the graphics are amazing!!
Pros:
Great graphics
Gorgeous tracks
Fast cars
Lighting effects are beautiful
Cons:
Online is a wreck right now
Handeling feels a bit loose at times
No American cars yet
Soundtrack is eh
Overall:
I really enjoy this game and it makes for a fun challenging evening.

This game is one of the most beautiful games out there. It's fun and has a ton of content. My only complaint is that the AI/difficulty level is very unbalanced. They are supposed to be fixing this with an upcoming patch though.

The physics are better than Gran Turismo which use to set the bar very high. This is an amazing driving game with beautiful tracks, cars, and cool club features and benefits to make multiplayer more fun.

This game by far has gotten so much bad press, mostly by gamers not reviewers.
The problems that plagued it's release are no more.
Online is up and running flawlessly.
Graphically it's most likely the best looking console game out.
Gameplay is tight and fast paced and very unforgiving at times but the game is so good you'll find yourself addicted to "just one more race".
Due to the initial online preblems, evolution studios released a ton of free dlc. So you'll get a handful of new free cars and tracks as well as liverys and new tours.
I really can't say enough good things about this game, no games perfect and this one isn't either but it's pretty close. The only thing I could say is truly lacking is customizable online races, which evolution says they are working on, that would push my review to 5 out 5. Right now there's no way to race in closed lobbies with just your friends.

The game works very well on the PS4, graphics are awesome as well as the sound. Works well with 6axis controller, but would like to have the full steering wheel and foot controls to really get immersed in the game.

Really good graphic. Especially if you turn on the weather effect. However, game play wise, it can be better. The slow down for corner cutting is annoying.

This is a great racer - tons of content, very pretty and fantastic driving controls. Not a sim, but more arcade-y - it reminds me somewhat of the Dirt series.

This is a great game especially when on sale. The game was broken when released but has now been fixed. The weather effects are incredibly realistic to the point of being detrimental. Sometimes the sun can shine in your eyes or it can be too dark. This realism backfires and stops you from enjoying the game. The good thing is you can control the weather effects in the menu. The game is a blast to play. I haven't played a racing game since my ps2 days so my standards aren't to high.

I myself have never been a super avid racing game fan. I always found games like Gran Turismo to be excessive in their scope (ie menu hell), and while I have enjoyed titles such as Need For Speed and Burnout in the past, they played more like bumper cars than racing. Enter Driveclub. This game strikes the perfect balance, for myself anyways, of a very arcade style presentation, along with sim quality racking. While the lack of menu options and vehicle customization may alienate certain players, they are exactly what I want in a racing game; as little as possible between me and the race track. And once you get there, youre treated to quality RACING. Not a 200+ MPH game of bumper cars. Not something that resembles set pieces from a Michael Bay movie, with cars out running explosions, and barreling across open fields while somehow not slowing down one iota. You have to RACE. Isn't that the promise upon which this genre was based?

This game had a rough start but after all the updates, this game is easily one of best graphics out there. The gameplay is also addicting. The fantastic weather effects add more difficulty and very engaging. The developer promised more updates in the future. More reason to keep this game and keep playing.

A lot of you had the issue of choosing Driveclub over The Crew and I can help you with that. If you enjoy track racing and simulation games such as the Gran Turismo series then Driveclub is the perfect game to pick up. If you like arcade racing and open world driving such as Forza Horizon or Need For Speed I would go with The Crew. Driveclub has BEAUTIFUL graphics and has improved a lot since initial release.

I say very good, because the graphics are insane. The different types of races are entertaining, and thus far I have not found myself becoming bored.
This game forces you to obey what would be considered the laws of natural driving...it is not forgiving on the speed you should be at to make a corner without crashing. This takes some getting used to.
Drifting is easier once you learn how to drive correctly as I said above. Some races have achievements for perfect laps, or perfect races, meaning you cannot cut any corners, damage any other cars, or knock over street signs. This is a huge challenge, but is doable.
For me personally, this game fills a void of my needing a decent racing / driving game. Unlike the NFS franchise, this game doesn't end with the challenges...you can design your own courses, and then challenge friends online.
I hope this review helps you make your decision.

The game while in scope not as big as Forza 5 or Forza Horizon 2 brings an old style formula back to the racing genre. When playing this game I am reminded of games like Metropolis Street Racer on Sega Dreamcast, Enthusia on the PS2, and Project Gotham Racing on the Xbox. The game rewards you by your skill on the road. The visuals are stunning. Much more detailed and more realistic compared to Microsoft's recent racing games. The game does need more free content. You buy a game for $30 or $60 should be enough for you to get the extra clubs for free. Excellent game that stands up against Forza 5 pretty darn well.
