    Best Zombie Game yet!

I picked up Dying Light (first-person action/survival game) on release day for the PS4. I don’t normally pay full price on a game and prefer for IGN to give it a rating (just to give me a ballpark idea), but considering the developer was the same one who created Dead Island (which I still own and beaten), I needed to own this one ASAP for I’m a zombie lover and loved how DI panned out. After playing for four straight hours, I found it to be a cross between Dead Island/Dead Rising and The Last of US. If you’ve played DI, then you know what I mean as in you have a meter which depletes (if swimming underwater/fighting too much), but after you stand still, it quickly returns. You’ll also get rewarded for side missions. There is no time limit in DL like Dead Rising so you get a chance to roam around in this dangerous open world which gets 10x more dangerous at night for your literally running around with a flashlight which is a must! That’s an example of how intense this game is. During the day, you can also feel it when you’re trying to accomplish a mission and zombies are heading in your direction. There's so many zombies getting in your way but there are lots of places where you can be alone…and that’s where you’ll find big boxes where you’ll need to learn how to pick locks. If you mess up, your tool breaks (which you’ll know because the controller starts to vibrate before it breaks), and you’ll need to repair it or find another one and come back to obtain your reward. The lock boxes are also categorized as easy, medium, hard. Like in TLOU/DI, you can search toolboxes, chests, vehicles, rooms, closets, baskets, etc. to locate metal and other items which will repair/upgrade your weapons/build up Skill Points. Graphics are excellent. You might expect a little better, but you'll realize when you start playing there's so many places to enter and each place (like a room or building), are uniquely detailed so that could be why the graphics are not up to what other people think but in my opinion, they're as good as FarCry. Some places look better too. You can run pretty fast when you start out and you’ll have the tendency to see how far you can jump hahaha. The map layout is pretty intuitive. You can set waypoints, zoom in/out, tell the difference what is your home/safe place, and your objectives. Game play is extremely fun. Multiplayer and change of outfits become available after you complete the Prologue which consists of learning the controls; running, jumping, climbing, and some balancing. The sound effects are great. Zombies and explosions sound realistic. There's really no music. A little bit of suspenseful music here and there but nothing to go crazy over. I would say the music is really the creatures surrounding you and it picks up a lot at night. Creepy. As for Multiplayer, it’s you plus up to 4 players completing tasks at once. You just can’t move on to the next mission without everyone being at the same checkpoint, but they can fast travel to you so that’s a plus. I didn’t see any degrade in graphics and the game ran as smooth as campaign. And if you quit Multiplayer, the game starts you off right at the same spot. Within Multiplayer, you can select Quick Game or one based on your progress so you're playing with the same people who have similar/same skills as you (to make things fair). This is an intense game. You can feel monsters coming after you especially if you make too much noise such as if you land on and smash crates, blow up propane tanks and so forth If you’re like me who’s hesitant on buying a game based off someone’s review, I would watch several videos and try and see if someone is streaming live gameplay. Good Luck!

Let's start with the good: Impressive visual, intense atmosphere, exciting and fast gameplay, excellent leveling system, entertaining combat, and engaging story. There is plenty of content to keep you busy and the inventory management is also pleasant. My complaint: As someone with limited time to dedicate to games, a lot of time is consumed by traveling from A to B and B to C. Common mission format is go to point A, search for hidden item, bring it to point B, kill some zombies, then back to the person who offered the mission to you to cash in on the reward. Then rinse and repeat. Excellent game for cooperative play if you can coordinate your progress with friends.

It's hard to say exactly what the other games on the list will be, but Dying Light is surely among them. It blends elements of Far Cry, The Walking Dead, Skyrim, and Dead Island in a tasty cauldron and manages to create an incredibly worthwhile experience. It is a game which also offers co-op, a sorely missed component in so many other titles but one that is handled excellently. I cannot recommend this game enough, as it is just a very fun romp with an engaging story, charismatic characters, and simply very fun gameplay. If you are a fan of an open world, zombies, and co-op, you are going to really love this one.

What can I say about dying light? It's oretty amazing- especially if you were even slightly a fan of Dead Island. Dying Light draws a lot of its inspiration from DI but is different in its own respect with what I thought was a better story, more fluid controls reminiscent Mirrors Edge, and obviously better graphics being on the PS4. I would definitely recommend this to a friend- did I mention that you can play cooperate mode on your buddies' or your own campaign? You definitely can- with up to 3 other people!! Which is nice because this game can get a little creepy when you play by yourself at night lol.

    Dying Light Review

In a nutshell, the game is an expanded and more polished version of Dead Island, which was to be expected, with solid gameplay and a pretty big open-world city to faff about in for countless hours. It looks good and plays good, but unfortunately, it’s marred by some technical issues, from slight glitches in zombie behavior and clipping to full halts while you get your face chewed off by a crowd of zombies, or during cutscenes. However, during my time with the game, I had a really good time. Sure, it’s annoying when your weapons break in five hits or when you jump instead of dodging an incoming attack due to frame rate issues, but overall, the moment-to-moment gameplay will pull you into Dying Light’s world and leave you extremely satisfied. Dying Light is everything you wanted from Dead Island. Only instead of stepping into the shoes of a Mr. T and Ice T crossover, you’re a deadly spy or soldier, and everything is bigger and better. The parkour navigation system is very fluid and enjoyable in its own right, combat feels pretty meaty, there’s scavenging and crafting, opponents are challenging and keep you on your toes, the graphics are great, and the dynamic night and day cycle introduces a nice shift in gameplay. The main story has plenty of holes and some questionable decisions from the protagonists, but it’s passable, and there are also a myriad of other things to do in Harran. From simply jumping from rooftop to rooftop looking for zombies to test your new weapon on, picking locks, wandering through the city, tracking down cargo drops, liberating safe zones, rescuing other survivors, uncovering Easter eggs and various collectibles, to studying the effect of assault rifles on crowds, there’s never a dull moment in Dying Light. It gets many things right, it’s focused and feels really worthwhile and fun. The skills you level up give you a sense of actual progression and offer you new ways to tackle the challenges ahead. The world feels alive and everything serves a purpose, it all comes together in a cohesive experience, with a great presentation and a ton of attention to detail. It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind anytime soon, but it’s a solid first-person open-world survival game that feels both familiar and new. Best of all, it managed to exceed my expectations. It looks gorgeous and feels polished. Unfortunately, it’s also technically inconsistent. I died many times due to performance issues at the most inopportune moment and the cut scenes were marred by lag and freezes. But there’s a great game underneath all the unoptimized fluff.

Love this game the graphics are awesome it's scary as he'll when it gets dark until you weapon up then you smash all the zombies and hunters has a deep story that kept me playing to find out what was gonna happen I didn't realize how great the graphics were until I got 5 days in when I relaxed and took in the scenery. I've only played militia player a few times it's fun but I really think it's the campaign that is key I really really enjoyed this game 10/10 in my opinion. Throw on a head set and it's super creepy I jumped a few times woke up the gf pretty scary game.

This game is not easy and not overly difficult either. There's day-time and nighttime in the game and the difference between the two is casual to terrifying. Lots of gore, the story is just ok, lots of side missions, and this is one of the better coop games that I've played. So far, I haven't experienced many, but there's some glitches (they rarely ever happen). For example, I was climbing a ladder and all of a sudden fell through the world. A few of my friends have experienced similar glitches, but so far we've only experienced 1 each.

I have been an avid player of the Dead Island series and I have played each game with 80+ hours with at least one character and I can say that this is much more better. I loved the story in this one and it brings you in a little bit more closer than the DI series. It ties you in making it feel like you are really the character you are playing. The graphics are also phenomenal although I haven't played the new DI I feel like they are going the same direction as the others. And this has night time, yeah. Good luck getting to a safe house at night.

Dead Island + Parkour = FUN!

If you enjoyed Techland's previous open world zombie effort, Dead Island, then you'll feel right at home with Dying Light. The first person melee oriented combat is back with some notable improvements, wish is welcome considering how mobile the enemies are this time around (you'll definitely appreciate this at night). Your character is a parkour master, enabling you to jump and grapple your way across the rooftops escaping flesh eaters and racing towards airdrops. The jump button is mapped to R1, which I had difficulty adjusting to at first but you quickly get the hang of it. The story isn't the games best attribute but the missions themselves are varied and challenging. Like Dead Island, the co-op is pretty seamless allowing you and your friends to work together to complete the campaign together and honestly this makes the game twice as much fun. In-game co-op challenges provide competition among your party and provide yet another distraction in a game world worth exploring. The open world is vast and a wonder to look at, showcasing some of the best visuals I've seen on PS4. A few minor complaints though. For one the weapon deteriation is back and annoying as ever. Having to worry about your weapon's durability while fighting off a horde of undead is a bit frustrating at times. Also, the lack of a character creator is annoying considering the emphasis on co-op, so some extra characters would have been appreciated for party diversity. Overall Dying Light is a great game that should provide hours of entertainment. If you're a fan of zombies and open world gameplay I highly recommend it.

I bought this game for a friend's birthday. I've only heard good things from it so I'd say it deserves at least 4 stars. Basically it's a coop zombie game where you're benefited by scouting in the daylight when the zombies are slower and weaker than in the night when they're stronger and faster. It includes parkour acrobatics so you can evade zombies. As far as weapons, you have access to more melee weapons and very low ammo for guns. I'd be interested in buying this game myself in the future.

i am not that far into the game yet. but i will say that it is hard to turn off and go to bed. it is similar to dead island and others that i like. you can run missions and side missions, gather wares (or trades, if u prefer), weapons, beef up weapons, and buy or sell everything you find. not one of the games with same background that gets boring, duh. and not a game that you can beat in one weekend with a can of red b... they don't pay me either, so... can of go juice to get you through. lol

The main story line is good enough to keep you interested but the side quests can get a bit repetitive. I really like the weapon durability system, each weapon can only be used so many times as well as repaired. Upgrading weapons based on schematics collected is a nice touch. Once the sun goes down that's when the nightmares come out and the fun begins. If you enjoy hack em up Zombie games then you will mostly enjoy this title. Think Borderlands meets Dead Island.

This game was one of the main reasons I purchased a PS4. The adrenalin that you feel as you are running away from a zombie horde and scaling a building just can't be beat. The graphics are phenomenal and the storyline keeps you moving. I have been playing this game everyday since its release, and considering my busy work schedule that is saying a lot about how great this game is. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Just do yourself a favor and dive into the Dying Light.

So the mechanics in the game are amazing. The running and combat are fun but awkward at first due to action button placement. It really is not an issue but at times you may hit the wrong button causing the character to do odd things. The storyline starts off strong but as you play it begins to fall apart and the stronger your character gets the less fun the game becomes. Amazing game I enjoy it and my purchase though and would suggest it for others.

The game is very nerve-wracking but very fun to play. It causes much more anxiety than The Last of Us ever did but also adds the fun mechanic of jumping over objects and climbing walls that Assassin's Creed offers. One of the best parts of the game is playing the story with a friend however it sucks that while progressing the story together, only one person's story progresses while the other, if they choose to play solo, stays at the same percentage.

I've just begun playing this game, so I am not too far along in it. However, I still find it to be a great game, especially fun because I can go through the campaign mode with friends. The added 'hunter' feature is pretty neat, and kind of intense at times.. As some have mentioned, the graphics and voice acting can be somewhat painful to see/hear, but the actual gameplay more than makes up for it. I definitely recommend this game to others.

he gameplay is similar to dead island but is so much smoother and much more fun. Plus the story is actually good compared to Dead island. And all the hoards of zombies and sounds makes me feel like im in Atlanta In Season 1 of The Walking Dead. The parkour is smooth for the most part and very fun. Combat is great but only with about 2 to 3 zombies at a time.. And oh my goodness...... the night time is done so well

Okay, so many game review sites are giving this game lower reviews than it truly deserves. This game is crazy fun. Its kinda a cross between asassins creed, infamous, and gta. Its an open world environment with alot of side quests, challenges, and story quests. The multiplayer is really fun, though it is a bit confusing about how the xp progress works with your personal save file. Bottom line, its a really fun game.

Admittedly when I first heard about the game it didn't strike me as anything different then the many zombie games already out there. However, from a recommendation from a friend I gave this game a try and I was quite pleasently surprised. The game reminds me not surprisingly of dead island, but I think is.vastly better. The main plot itself may be a little weak in my opinion, but the gameplay is what this game is all about. Developing your character is loads of fun, starting with a very weak character in which you have to run from just about everything and eventually becoming a man bred with a single purpose, to behead zombies. The parkour aspect is quite enjoyable, reminding me a lot of the joy created in the assassins creed series. The fighting itself isn't the greatest, but it's still pretty good giving plenty of options on how to take people down. The game has a few frustrating parts, such as an exploding zombie who will probably always instant kill you if in range, frustrating because you often won't see them admist a horde of zombies until you cringe as your weapon passes through their abdomen, knowing you will have to respawn elsewhere and lose points. Also, the mechanics of one zombie attack doesn't quite fit, so I often was hit when my character was clearly out if his way, but of course after you know this you can just adjust your strategy. Overall the parkour combined with a zombie slasher and survivor game worked quite well making for an enjoyable experience.
