Our computer's hard drive & the backup drive died at the same time. The tech guy used his software and tried to get our data back from the hard drive - said the drive was spinning but he couldn't get anything off it. I figured it was worth trying myself; the data was certainly worth more than the cost of the enclosure (40 or 45 dollars). Took the old drive to Best Buy and explained the problem. They showed me what I needed to get. I bought the hard drive enclosure, popped the old drive in, plugged in the power and connected it to the computer. The drive came up as though it had never been down and is still running. I don't know if the drive got the perfect bump in the car or if the computer gods were smiling on me, but I recovered everything I needed and am very happy! Eventually I think I'll just put a new hard drive in the enclosure and use it as a spare backup drive. The case is sturdy and attractive.

Does what it says it will do, while keeping your hard drive cool. I would buy again.

I was looking to add an external drive and since I already had a 1.5 TB HD I wanted to use it. This little USB 3 external HD case was perfect for me. Took me about 10 minutes from the package to connecting to m computer. I have had no issues with it, excellent buy

I recently upgraded my Dish receiver to a Hopper With Sling, and needed to move recorded shows to an external drive in order to save them before I switched receivers. I tried to use an external drive I already had, which was a brand new Seagate 2TB that I'd bought a couple of days earlier, also from Best Buy. Unfortunately, my Dish receiver refused to use a drive that had the previously installed backup software in it. It would not even allow me to reformat it and reuse it for this purpose. So I decided to keep the other new drive, and reformat another drive I already owned. That one was an internal drive with no enclosure, which is why I bought this product. I've seen nicer looking enclosures, but my local Best Buy only had this one model, so I had no choice. It looks a bit plain, but it does exactly what it's supposed to, so I have no complaints.

I needed to get this case as a replacement to the one I had, the screws were damaged and my power source was having issues. A friend did all the work for me and he said this was the easiest case he's ever used too and he does a lot with computers!

This is a good, sturdy case to install your bare hard drive.

only improvement, would be some type of cooling, I've had several different types of drive enclosures like these, they all retain a lot of heat, and after a year or two start failing, only had this one short time, will see how it works out.

I was very pleased with this product. It worked very well when I needed to transfer files from a computer that was no longer operational so I could restore it and make it functional again with no loss if important documents.

My old PC died but the hard drive was fine. This hardware allowed me to take my old hard drive and port the data to my new PC hard drive. Then, I also had a removable hard drive to use in the future for backing up my data.

The only thing I have to say is I'm glad I got one of these for my recent project. The only thing I would note is that there are lots of teeny tiny screws that you have to have, so be careful not to lose them.

Set it up in a minute and was able to retrieve data.

The price was great, cheap and did the trick in enabling the accessing the hard drive from a desk top that crapped out. Easy to install and no compatibility issues.

Give me plenty of space to back up my files from my lap top and my wife's desk top. Easy to copy files over for the back up. Easy to connect to our couputers. Good value for the price paid.

This external drive enclosure is very straightforward and easy to use. When using this to recover some files from a hard drive that was in a fried PC the connection and installation was fast and easy.

This enclosure is light weight and easy to use. It comes with everything you need to set it up. I have had it now for about two months and have had no problems. I would recommend it to a friend.

this worked out great for me. my desktop pc crashed the motherboard was bad, but the hard drive was still good. so i used this to bring the hard drive to my laptop. pretty cool.

The Dynex 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Enclosure is built very well. Metal construction and very solid. Switches and ports are all high quality. Its slim profile allows many placement options. Works perfectly and with the USB 3.0 connection it is very fast. You have to unscrew the front panel in order to install a drive into it, but the unit comes with a small screwdriver that works fine for this purpose. It would be nice if the unit had a tool-less installation design that would allow you to quickly change drives - but if you are looking for a solid, fast external drive enclosure to add one more drive to your rig, this is a great option.

I bought this to read an old external hard drive. But my hard drive was damaged so I had to use other methods. This case worked great and with ease though.
