Bought this to create an external hard drive from a desktop that had died. Very simple and straightforward to plug in. Fit perfectly. Has all you need in the box.

I needed to upgrade an internal desktop drive, in a computer that has room for only one internal drive. To clone the contents of the old drive to the he's drive, I needed to be able to connect the old drive to the computer as an external USB drive. All I needed to do was plug it into this enclosure, connect the USB cable from the enclosure to the computer, connect the power brick, and turn it in...the old drive mounted ANC I was able to use a disk cloning program to copy it to the internal drive. Good price, pretty solid construction, and it's both PC and Mac compatible. Good purchase.

Found the product easy to take apart for installation of hard drive, easy to install and connect hard drive, and was up and running within just a few minutes.

I was upgrading some of my equipment from an old tower. I ended up having an extra hard drive that I wanted to make into an external one. Luckily, I had some rewards points that helped me purchase this enclosure. The USB 3.0 speeds are great for this enclosure. I use the drive primarily on a 15 inch Macbook Pro (with retina display) and the enclosure doesn't let me down. If you need a USB 3.0 enclosure fast, get this - you won't be disappointed!

My desktop PC picked up a nasty virus such that I couldn't access the hard drive at all. I knew if I could connect the hard drive to another computer as a slave that I could clean it up & be back in business. This device allowed me to do exactly that. Without it, it was going to cost me $200 or more to have a tech recover my drive. With this device, I was able to recover what I wanted without fear of losing what I didn't want to lose. It saved my PC!

Simple, easy to use. Simply a plug and play item unless you use it with Windows 8 but that may be my lack of knowledge rather than the devices shortcomings.

Hard drive went out on my computer, had to install new one. This external enclosure allowed me to recover all of my data. Couldn't have been easier.

Works great with the hard drive from our computer that crashed. Was able to pull the old info easily and move it to a new external hard drive.

I bought this because my computer failed and I wanted to try and save my files in my documents. It worked beautifully!

My NAS device failed after sequential power outages and brown outs during a major thunderstorm. Removed the drive from the NAS enclosure, installed the drive in the Dynex Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure, booted into a Linux OS and recovered every file on the drive. Once recovery was complete, added the drive to my wireless router via the USB port and now have network storage capability again. Excellent low cost solution versus purchasing a complete NAS device.

Lost my external usb 2.0 drive Is during a power surge. This was a quick fix and upgrade for low cost.

Had a few old computers lying around that didn't work anymore. I pulled the hard drives before junking them and was able to use the enclosure to save the data off the drives that I needed/wanted. I also was able to run some drive speed tests on a couple of the drives to see which drive I wanted to install as a linux partition in a new dual boot system. I use another drive to backup photos to. Very useful to reuse old hardware.
