    Wi-fi issues, poor range

I spent 6 hours trying to get this thing to link with my iPhone. Talked to online support multiple times. I did everything they said. I have an apple Time Capsule, and was informed I had to split the bands (2.4 and 5ghz) onto two separate networks, which I did and it still didn't work. In non-wifi mode, the thing cleaned for 45 minutes and died, failed to dock, and it only covered the living room. The irobot roomba did my living room, kitchen, dining, and two bedrooms, and then docked on a single charge. This machine is designed for a teeny tiny apartment. Lastly the machine requires all areas of the house to be illuminated for it to clean. So be sure you have those light strips set up under your couch or the dyson may go in a continuously overlapping pattern and leave you wondering, "gosh, it's been at it for awhile under there...should I crawl under and help it along?"

      Hello there,

This is Dan with Dyson. Thank you very much for your review of the Dyson 360 Eye Robot. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your machine. It is unusual that the robot was not able to successfully connect to your 2.4 gHz connection after these checkpoints were completed with our team of connection experts.

The 360 Eye Robot features a max run-time of 45 minutes on Max Mode and 75 minutes on Quiet Mode. When the robot recognizes a low charge, it returns to the dock to recharge. Once charging is complete the robot resumes cleaning. It will cover the entire accessible space, recharging when necessary. It is important to note that the robot must begin its duties from the dock in order for it to return. If the cleaning process begins elsewhere, it will be unable to successfully return to its dock.

In addition to this, the robot has infrared headlights built into the handles that help the robot see in low light conditions, such as underneath objects or in the shadows behind pieces of furniture. External illumination should not be required for the machine to clean your home effectively.

While we understand you have been in contact with our support team previously, we are keen to resolve this with you. Please feel free to e-mail your contact information to [email protected] and we will be in touch.

      Best wishes,
      Dan

    GARBAGE

I've been salivating for months, waiting for the 360 Eye to be released. I begged for it for my birthday (what can I say, I enjoy a spotless house) and got it. I was so excited! That was almost 2 wks ago - I've since spent HOURS & HOURS trying to get it to connect to my phone, fussing with my wifi & service provider, moving it to different locations thinking it wasn't close enough to the router, etc, etc. I finally got it connected - briefly... then the same issues all over again. I even returned it & swapped it out for a new one, thinking I might have purchased a defective unit the first time. I wish I'd read the reviews earlier because I thought I was somehow simply missing something. All the 1 star reviews are accurate & if I could give it no stars I would. Now I'm going to return it, if I don't smash it to bits prior, hoping to get some satisfaction after the let-down & wasting so much time. We have 3 Dyson vacuums throughout the house and all are fantastic but the Dyson Eye... GARBAGE.

      Hello Maki,

Thank you for providing this review. We’re disappointed to hear that the connection journey with your Dyson 360 Eye was not successful. It is important to note that the robot connects to a 2.4 ghz wireless network. Most modern home routers now run both. If you are running your 2.4 and 5 ghz networks separately you will need to make sure your handset is connected to the 2.4 ghz network.

In addition to the 2 year Dyson warranty, your machine comes complete with a team of experts that specialize in helping you take advantage of all the 360 Eye offers, including connectivity to the Dyson Link App. Our 360 Eye Robot support line can be reached directly by calling 866-664-8997.

While we understand you may have returned the machine, we’d like to hear more about your experience. Please feel free to send your contact information to [email protected] and we will be in touch.

      Best wishes,
      Dan

    Sucks

Sucks and not in a good way. Very disappointing considering it's a Dyson. Way too tall doesn't go under dressers and sofas like other Botvacs can. Stick with the Neato Botvac. It does the same patterned grid at half the price. If you want it with wifi, get Neato Botvac Connected still $400 cheaper than this junky attempt to get in the market. If you're going to overprice a product at least make it the best. This tall excuse for a Botvac makes it useless. Do your research. There's a reason why Neato is staying at the top of the market. Not even Roomba who was first in the market comes close to Neato. That random vacuum grid wastes to much time

Hi, this is Aimee with Dyson. I am sorry to hear of the unusual experience you've had with your Dyson 360 Eye vacuum cleaner. The robot is 12cm high so it cannot fit under anything this height or lower. The height allowed us to fit in the unique Radial Root Cyclone technology, which helps us achieve better filtration than any other robot vacuum. And because the robot is smaller than many others, with a width of just 23cm, it can fit into spaces other cannot, increasing its surface area coverage.

We would like to learn more of your experience and ensure your Dyson 360 Eye is functioning as intended. To do so, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected], including your contact information, and we will be glad to assist. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Excellent Robotic Vacuum

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As a computer science professor I have wanted a robotic vacuum since they started coming out; however, none navigated in a way that made sense to me logically initially. Prior to purchasing the Dyson 360, I tried the Roomba 980 as it was the first iRobot robot to use a camera for navigation vs bounce navigation; however, I was not pleased with the fact it had so many parts that needed to be replaced regularly (agitators, filters, brushes, etc) and it kept getting stuck and failing to continue cleaning my house. I was even considering ordering the Dyson 360 from Japan; however, did not want to pay the price to import it to the US (as the base price was $1200 not including shipping/import costs). An another nice thing about the Dyson over the iRobot Roomba series is that the air filters are washable, which means they don't need to be replaced every month with a new one. Additionally, the brush bar can be replaced, but it is unlikely to need to be. This washable/long lasting factor means that this robot will pay for itself over time compared to other robotic vacuums... as in about 6 months the cost of filters for a Roomba will be the difference between these two vacuums if you are replacing them as directed (factoring in they provide you 3 with the Roomba to start). The Dyson 360 is an excellent robotic vacuum that manages with a combination of sensors and a 360 degree camera to map out and navigate through your house breaking the house into logical grids and systematically cleaning the floors. I continually impressed by it's ability to navigate around my furniture and make it back to it's charger. I have a 1700sqft+ property and it takes a number of charges for the vacuum to clean the entire house; however, as it vacuums during the time while I'm gone for work, this is not a big deal for me. It is really nice to not have dirt, dust, etc on the floor as I walk around barefoot a lot of the time. It is also kind of neat to be able to see the rendered maps of my house as the vacuum progresses during the day, which also helps me determine if it fails to vacuum part of my house or if there is a problematic bit of furniture that needs to be migrated to allow the vacuum to better navigate. I initially would have given the vacuum 4 stars; however, they have updated the app making it more functional. I also like the addition of different power modes as in the quiet mode it is still quite effective, easier to be home while it operates, and lasts longer per charge.

    Great for Keeping Floors Clean

    Posted .

Note: I received this item complimentary in exchange for my honest opinion. I was excited to try out the new Dyson 360 Eye Robot Vacuum because I love Dyson products. With two kids and a dog, I find myself vacuuming frequently, and the idea of being able to schedule automatic cleanings is appealing. Setting up the Dyson 360 Eye Robot online was easy. I have an iPhone 7+, and was able to easily download the app, connect, and set up. My router is compatible, so I had no issues there. I scheduled my robot to run every other day automatically. I get an alert on my phone when it's about to run, which is a good reminder to clean any stray items from the floor. It does run right over our floor rugs, so those don't need to be removed - but occasionally the kids leave a headband or other loose item on the floor. The robot runs about 35-40 minutes on one charge, and then returns back to the base for recharging, before going back and finishing. Our whole first floor usually is completed with one or two charges. It is able to go under our couch and tables (which are pretty high off the ground), and rarely ends up getting stuck in a position. In that case, I just pick it up and put it back on the charger. The cleaning is excellent. I am so surprised at how much dust it gathers every other day. I would think the floors would still be pretty clean, but it always fills up. Emptying it is easy, and I do that after every complete run. Overall, I think this is a great product for keeping floors clean.

Dyson's 360 Eye robot vacuum takes one thing off your chore list. This intelligent vacuum thoroughly picks up everything from dust to dog hair, all while you're at work or doing something much better than housework. Its efficiency makes up for its slow pace. Amazing to see this smart product available in my lifetime.

    Don't buy this thing.

Despite poor reviews I was a sucker to think that maybe my experience would be different. I was wrong. Immediately out of the box the wifi would not pair up right. After an hour on the phone with tech support they had no idea even though it was talking to their servers. So I manually updated software and reset everything and magically it started to work. This was only to find that all the thing wanted to do was run around in a little circle and error out with a brush error. Needless to say my ownership of this thing was in the span of hours. I am personally amazed that a company like Dyson put this thing out as half baked as it is even with a year of feedback from Japan. Tech support is well trained in the "That is the first time I have ever heard of that happening before...." line but beyond that of little help. Don't waste your time on this thing. I returned it for a Roomba 980 and had it up and going in 10 minutes.

      Hello there,

Thank you for taking time to post a review of your recent Dyson purchase. I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time with the 360 Eye or have success using it in your home.

This is certainly not the experience we intend for our owners. We take your feedback seriously and have shared it with our leadership team for further action. We have also passed your comments on to our engineers; details such as these are helpful to them.

I understand you have been in touch with our support team and that you have since returned your 360 Eye and purchased an alternative. However, we would value an opportunity to discuss your concerns further. Please consider emailing your contact details to [email protected]. We hope to speak with you soon.

    Great vacuum

I own a regular Dyson, the cinematic or whatever you call it. This 260 eye does a really grear job. Before I would vacuum the downstairs once a week (hardwood & tile) and I could see some light hairs from the 2 dogs. Now that I have this, I run it everyday and I see it almost half full Everytime it runs, really from the hair of the dogs. I am really impressed with this machine. The only downside is that it does get stuck with the tiniest pet toy, like a cloth toy with no stuffing. As long as I do a general pickup of blankets and toys off the floor which I do before I leave home, it does a great job. It was worth the money. I chose this instead of Roomba just because I felt the suction would be better and also the tracking of where the bot sweeps.

Spend half the $ and get a botvac from neato.

This cool and all but I wouldn't spend this much money on a first gen bot. Neato robotics (also sold at best buy) botvac seems to be a much more seasoned and reliable product and is half the price. Dyson will have to enter the market at a much lower price if they want to earn my buisness as this doesn't seem to be superior to the neato botvac.

Hi James, this is Aimee with Dyson. I am happy to hear you are interested in our Dyson 360 Eye robot vacuum. The Dyson 360 Eye vacuum cleaner uses technology you won’t find in any other robot vacuum. A unique 360 vision system lets it knows where it is and where it is yet to clean; a Dyson digital motor gives it the most powerful suction of any robot vacuum; patented Dyson cyclones means it can separate particles as small as 0.5 microns from the airflow; a full width brush bar gives it maximum cleaning coverage; and continuous tank tracks maintain speed and direction across all floor types. We would like to hear from you, and answer any further questions or concerns you may have. To do so, please email [email protected], including your contact information, and we will be glad to assist. We look forward to your correspondence. Best Wishes, Aimee Dyson-EN_US

Bought it for kitchen and dining room

I've read other reviews for the vacuum about issues with carpet. However I only needed it for my kitchen and dining rooms where I have vinyl flooring. Other than the chair leg supports getting in the way, it's done a good job. I do have problems around my dog water dish as the dog is messy and spills water on the floor which has caused the vacuum to have problems sweeping when wet. I also have concerns about the high price point, I'll wait a couple more weeks before I've decided if it was a good buy or bad. I've had other Dyson vacuums and the one time I had to use Support to replace a piece on an old vacuum, they were very helpful.

Dyson's call line is DOWN. I had to send them an email. Waiting for response but I'm taking mine back today. I expected more from a company like Dyson. After the initial setup which was problematic at best, it started cleaning. First time out, it spent 10 minutes negotiating chair legs around my dining table. Eventually, after finishing it's cleaning session it went back to it's base station. Unfortunately even though it was 2 feet in front of it, it couldn't find it. It went back and forth for 20 minutes before I got fed up and put it on the charger. Second time out, it started where it finished off but still couldn't find it's way home. Next session it stopped with a fault. The app gave a message "DeviceStatusTitleFaultUserRecoverable" which tells you NOTHING. Click on the diagnostics and that was blank and the button did nothing. The app sucks BTW. Decided to do a firmware upgrade which it's meant to do itself but didn't. This requires putting in a USB stick with the firmware on it. That went fine but when trying to connect the app to it now it doesn't. I removed it from the app to do a new install, no luck there either. There should be a reset button on this somewhere but I can't find one. The website and manual say download the "reset Wi-Fi" file from the Dyson website. Searched and searched, I can't find it anywhere.
