This Animal 2 is awesome! I've owned a Dyson which was about 12 years old. When I ran the new Ball Animal 2 on my floor rugs, the results were amazing! I have 2 Labradors and a cat. The Animal 2 completely renewed the fluff of my area rugs & also brought the pile up on all the carpets! After the first vacuuming, all the older embedded fur which I didn't realize was there, from my much older Dyson, was completely GONE! Now vacuuming 1-2 times a week is all I need. Very easy to use, plus easy to push! The extending wand has xtra attachments for upholstery cleaning and getting into small spaces, high spots & under furniture. So very glad I bought this!!

This suits a type of household with hardwood/tile/low carpet. The suction is very strong, although the vacuum itself is a bit more difficult to maneuver than expected. What's important the most to me is the suction, which you definitely get with this. You get a great cleaning experience, and after you use it for awhile it'll grow on you as one of the best vacuums you've ever used.

This vacuum is very powerful, lightweight for its power, and is very easy to put together. It has the ability to clean rugs, hardwood floors, and has and has a hose that is removable for immediate spot suction capability all in one place, which is not a common feature in upright vacuums. Highly recommended!

This is our third Dyson animal upright vacuum. We really like Dyson’s products. It vacuums very well and comes with an awesome selection of attachments. The vacuum is easy to empty and does a great job picking up pet hair, etc. The problem with this vacuum, and it has happened to us three times now, is that hair gets wrapped around the axle inside the head unit where you can’t get into clean without taking the beater bar apart beyond what is intended outside of a repair shop. We’ve made it a point to clean the hair off of the beater bar very frequently because we know what the problems are, but the hair gets wrapped inside the motor belt area where you can’t get to it and you don’t know it’s a problem until it starts to smell hot. By the time you’re smelling that the plastic has started to Break down around the axle and it goes south very quickly from there. Considering this vacuum is supposed to be specifically designed for pet hair, etc., the lack of an effective seal between the motor belt area, and the exposed beater bar which allows for severe wear and tear is a significant design flaw. We’ve replaced one of these on the factory warranty and we got an extended warranty on the second one in anticipation of problems. The third one has broken again inside of one year grom when we obtained it but unfortunately they voided our extended warranty when we return the last one and now we are out of luck. The only repair shop in our state is 50 miles away in Denver and we are finally going to have to give up on Dyson and move onto Shark or another brand. If you don’t have pets or family members with long hair, you will probably love this vacuum. If you do, I would strongly encourage you to stay away from it.

This vacuum really does the job! The suction is great and the ball really allows for ease of use, especially when moving around furniture. I have 2 dogs and this vacuum really gets up all of the dog hair. The attachment tools are really useful for cleaning hard to reach areas, ceiling fans and blinds too!

I finally got tired of buying vacuums that literally last a year, so I finally opted in and bought the Dyson. My husband may have wanted to kick my butt after spending $400, but happy wife equals happy life. Anyways this vacuum has great suction and is relatively easy to use. The only thing that I’m not used to is that you have to slightly push it forward and listen for a click to keep it from falling back. We’ll see if it holds up past a year since we have 5 dogs that shed all the time so our house is always covered. I placed a Funko pop next to the pile to show how much fur it picked up just going over the entire loft area of my house.

After 16 years my old machine at last gave up the "ghost" and I needed a new one. So I hit the computer and started looking at different brands and models. Reviews galore! My boss heard I was looking for a new vacuum and recommended Dyson. I narrowed my search to Dyson and found this particular model. I decided to go with this model and I am so glad I did. Easy to assemble and takes up little storage space. I found it to be a little heavier to push than I expected, but it's not too bad. The suction and cleaning on the other hand, is amazing. I couldn't believe how well it cleaned and deep into the carpet it goes. It glides smoothly from carpet to tile. Emptying is a breeze and I love that there are no more bags to deal with. I've only had it for a short few weeks, so time will tell how well the suction continues and how easy and effective the cleaning of the filter will be.

Must cut seal for deep/soft carpet; still the best

Missing a star because it cannot adjust properly to thick/deep carpet, but is still the best option, and can be fixed easily. There is a known issue that most high-suction vacuums struggle on softer or deeper carpet, as a result of the suction pulling the head into the carpet and making it difficult to push, or even causing the motor head to stop spinning. This vacuum does both, thanks to the extreme suction. To remedy the issue, some suction has to be released, which is actually very easy. The head comes off by removing the gray plastic snap ring with the tabs, then turn the plastic clips that hold the floating portion to the main head. You need to remove the black rubber seal that is between these two pieces to reduce suction for deep/soft carpet. I cut the entire thing out with a razor. Other reviews simply cut the sides with a razor, leaving the rubber there but sliced. Try that first, as it reduces suction a bit, then move on to full removal if more reduction is needed. Don't worry, the reduced suction is still enough to pick everything up, and you can cut out only enough to meet your ideal balance of ease of use versus suction power. Aside from powered wheels on a Kirby, there aren't really any other options for high suction while retaining the ability to move easily on deep carpet, as the lower priced powered models don't work very well. The Kirby is an excellent machine, but requires much more attachment use as the head is more difficult to drive under items such as chairs, counters, tables, etc, due to the upright design, thus causing as many usability issues as it solves. I've come to the conclusion that this Dyson is still the best vacuum for deep/soft carpet, once the appropriate modifications are made to the head to match suction level to carpet.

I love this vacuum. The suction power is really good. It’s easy to use and maneuver. I only have three down falls. One is that the upholstery tool does not have a spot for it on the vacuum like the crevice tool and the other one. The other bit I’m disappointed in is that when I do use the hose with any attachments the hose is so hard to pull out and keep it out. It pulls back in so easy it’s just hard to keep it extended long enough to use it. Lastly when I am using the hose and I want to move it around it tends to think I want to vacuum the floor so the head goes down and I have to re lock it in the upright position. I have to lean it way back so it doesn’t go down. Not a huge deal but a bit inconvenient at times. Other wise I really love it. And hope it lasts me. Very long time. In the 9 years of our marriage I’ve gone through 3 vacuums because they break so quickly on us.

Dyson Animal 2 vacuum lives up to its reputation of strong suction and ease of use. The packaging is easy to carry home. Assembly instructions are simple and was able to put it together in 5 min. It was easy to maneuver and was able to reach corners of room. The vacuum suction was excellent it sucked dust and dirt that was not visible to naked eye and made clean lines of carpet. The transition to wooden floor is seamless and had no problem to clean the floors. It was easy to remove the can with push of a button and another button to easily dump the collected dirt and dust. Overall a well built product with convenient features. I would definitely recommend Dyson Animal 2 vacuum to anyone who is in the market for a new vacuum.

After my last Dyson died after 7 years of use, I decided to try something cheaper. After reading reviews, settled on the Hoover Windtunnel Max. I've regretted it for over a year. So when there was a deal available on Black Friday, I decided never to go cheap again. The suction on this thing is amazing and it leaves my carpets, rugs and hardwood floors clean and looking new. It is sooooo much lighter and maneuverable than the heavy and clunky Hoover. Please note I have 5 indoor cats and 2 dogs also, yet this vacuum cleaner keeps my entire house clean.

I am extremely particular about vaccuum cleaners as I am OCD and grew up with my mom using a Dyson. I got married and wanted this to be a very thought out decision!! I have a black lab and I carpeted, tile, and wood floor house. This is PERFECT for a house with dogs and cleans my carpet practically like brand new! I recommend adding on the piece that connects to the vaccuum that you can groom your dog with and help with their shedding! If you’re deciding to buy something cheaper to save money- please invest in this!! You WONT regret it I promise!

I am in total love! Right out of the box, after plugging in, I set off to vacuum the bedroom. Wow is all I can say. What suction and power! Unlike ANY vacuum I've ever known. It works on carpet and my linoleum floor in the kitchen and my wooden floor in the dining room. It also works on my heavy duty Oriental rug in the living room. I have used it, emptied it in amazement of what's being picked up. Lots of dirt like particles. It does have some pull, which makes moving it around a breeze. Things I don't like: the cord. To get the power, a great vacuum has to be plugged in, is my conclusion. That's okay, it works so well! The base is a bit wider that my cordless stick, but when you move things out of its way, it sucks it right up! Love the purple color. I am so happy to have spent the extra money on this model! Well worth the investment in cleaning!

I have owned 2 Dysons prior to this one. I have an in home business and two dogs. I have to clean almost every single day! I typically like to use my vacuum to do AS MUCH of the work as possible (aka, windows, baseboards, cabinets, doors, couches, chairs, bedspreads for a quickie, etc. etc.) That being said, the quality of Dyson's machines have DEFINITELY gone DOWN. I don't mean the suction - they legitimately have THE BEST suction of any I've tried. However, like almost everything you can buy today, the parts are cheap. Plastic CAN be tough, but it's still plastic and some of the pieces are small which requires extra care. That being said, I'm hard on my vacuum in that I use it A LOT and quickly. I use this vacuum 3-6 times a week for the WHOLE HOUSE. I have hardwoods and rugs. As some other reviewers claimed - it is very hard to run on a rug (and mine are fairly sturdy). I believe that is because the "self-adjust" part doesn't work well. It doesn't leave enough air space to actually move the vacuum when suctioned to a rug that isn't heavy enough to resist the pull. If you're half on the rug, half off of it, it'll be fine! Sigh. Thus, I get a really great work out picking it up and placing it again or muscling through the strong suction.... It works as expected on hardwoods, but the air outflow does tend to blow things about. This is my first of their Ball series. I don't love it. It CAN be easier in some ways, but it's like learning a new skill..... you have to find the weird "roller ball" rhythm for it to move smoothly. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes it works well. Oh! FYI - it IS VERY LOUD, louder than both of my previous Dysons. I did MONTHS of research and questioning people trying to find a good option that wasn't so expensive. In the end, I went with this Dyson because it will do its job. My last Dyson (which I still have and use in the basement) lasted 7 years and it still works, just not as well. I also got the Best Buy Geek Squad warranty because if Dyson's warranty is.... difficult, Best Buy generally is really good. Hopefully, I won't need either! If you can afford it, go for it. Just know there are DEFINITE challenges and I feel like it's just the sad state of how things are made today. IF you don't use your vacuum often - I read some Shark models are pretty good (but that they can die out after 8months-1 year). I prefer to keep and care for purchases as long as possible.

And I mean that it has great suction power! I had a cheap vacuum before and I picked up some stuff but with this Dyson vacuum you can really tell the difference with air quality and how much stuff it picks up! It’s perfect for hardwood floors and carpet! It helps maintain the carpet where cheap vacuums fray the carpet and ruin it. The one downside is when I am trying to click it up right to put it away it doesn’t always lock into place.
