It works great. I love the design and love that I can reach the ceiling with the hose! But I am not sure that the whole bagless thing is for me.

Excellent buy! We are very happy with this vacuum.

I would not recommend the DC41 Animal to anyone. Bought this Dyson because of how well the previous Animal worked. This one doesn't appear to have as much suction power and has a smaller catch tank, which means you empty it more often. So much for improved cyclone technology. If you are happy with your previous Dyson, keep it.

Not really much else to say. Dyson is expensive but they are very nice.

I quess I was suckered-in by Dyson's advertising and bought their second-highest priced vaccum. It just wasn't $530 worth of great! The added price of $69 for the accessory upholstery brush was a complete rip-off and overall performance wasn't that much more remarkable than my 10-year old Hoover! AND, the accessory hose that extends to allow more reach was so stiff that you had to wrestle with it to use it! Save your money and buy something just as good for way less! The "Ball" ain't all it's cracked-up to be!

Overall quality has diminished from previous models. Vacuum latch often doesn't grip resulting in handle falling. Plastic wheels squeak. Vacuum tips when using hose attachments. A plastic piece broke from base causing vacuum to steer crooked. Manuvering ball awkward and it can't reach under furniture. To maintain proper suction user is suppose to take apart and handwash filter piece which is disgusting. Very messy when emptying can and usually have to vacuum again after doing so because no matter how careful, it creates a mess. Suction really not that much better than other vacuum I have had.

I bought my Dyson's online and received it in late April 2011; it's now late May 2012 and the vacuum cleaner is completely broken. The warranty was for only 6 months, which tells you that the manufactuer knows this machine is going to break. When I took it to be repaired, I was told that the bagless machines will break because they become overheated and the plastic components melt. The repair shop offered to fix it for $200 (I paid $379); but they warned me that it would break again in the same manner. I had high hopes for this machine and initially it did work, but it won't last. Save yourself time and energy, don't buy it. Don't buy the Miele or Orek one either; they will also break on you after the warranties expire. I am going to try the Eurek Boss with a 4 year extended warranty; only the 2 year warranty is offered online, you need to call and ask for the 4 year warranty. Like this you buy one and can get a new one when the vacuum cleaner breaks. Vacuum cleaners are one product where the extended warranties are worth getting.

I bought the DC41 on Dec/12, and by Jan/13 the shell cover of the ball fell off. I called Dyson to complain and all CARE representatives were busy. After waiting for several minutes I decided to leave my phone number so somebody can call me back, silly me, that never happened. I got help on my second attempt and I was told that the issue with my vacuum was due to a problem with the design of it, and that it will be covered by warranty. However, that implied that I have to drop the vacuum somewhere else. When I dropped the vacuum for service I was told the same story about the design issue, but surprise, the vacuum will take up to 4 weeks to get repaired........Honestly too much pain for a $500 vacuum that did not last a month. I had better experience with a cheaper vacuum that I can trash and replace after stops working after at least a year of use. My recommendation: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I was so excited to finally be able to purchase the Dyson Animal but have had nothing but problems since. There are times that the roller won't spin. Times when it smells like something is burning even though all of the filters are clean and the canister is empty. Most of the time if it sucks anything up at all it is very little and most of it is shot back out at my feet. I spent so much on this and am so frustrated that I put it in the closet for the last year and pulled back out the old one. I've been looking at getting a new vacuum but can guarantee that it won't be a Dyson.
