Easy to put together and looks very cool but it does the same job as a regular fan. I thought it would be more cooling but it is not. If you want something cool looking and price is not object then this is the fan for you. If you are looking for a fan there are cheaper versions than this one that will do the same job.

Looks cool and it's real quiet when only putting out minimal air. BUT turn it up to where it really starts to move some significant air and it's no quieter than a good standard 10" fan with well designed blades (blades with some curves vs. straight). The no 'choppy' air is just a gimmic. At 2' what's the difference? Even at an 'on sale' price of $90 it's no better than the Honeywell fans I usually get at $40. I can't imagine paying $300! Plus its wider base makes it more difficult to set on a window sill. We really like our Dyson vac, but the fans? Forget about it.

Bought mine new about March 2010 online. Been using it about every day since. It claims to be a steadier stream of air, but I honestly don't see what advantage this offers compared to bladed fans. I have the white and gray unit. So the fan is inside the column base, the loop upper part snaps onto the base. It draws air in from the sides of the base then blows it out the loop in one direction. There are two buttons (power and swing) and one knob (fan speed). Since the fan uses a smaller motor than a larger bladed fan the fan is somewhat louder than a similarly performing bladed fan, I think due to the acoustics of a smaller motor spinning faster inside a plastic cylinder. Some maintenance needed to keep both the tiny air intake holes and the output area unblocked by accumulated dust or pet hair, with a bladed fan the dust and need to clean is obvious. Don't expect much of a difference between this and an ordinary fan, except maybe safety from the fan blade, but this might be more prone to tipping over and probably breaking the cheap plastic loop housing. Summary: looks better, safer for tiny fingers, possibly louder, possibly more prone to destructive damage if dropped, no apparent improvement in performance when compared to a conventional fan. For use in kids bedroom I think the increased safety is canceled out by an increased risk of destruction due to a small base making it easy to tip over and probably not to survive and fall to the floor.

I recommend this fan not only for it's sophisticated engineering, but for the creativity involved in bringing something different to the consumer. I've followed some of the complaints on this fan and don't find them to be plausible. Expense is justified by the engineering and design efforts that went into producing the 'air multiplier.' I can sense without seeing the mechanics that are inside this fan, that the parts, specifically the motor is of exquisitely higher quality than what goes into the average fan. The 'air tunnel' that pushes the air is designed to be 'iight' again by design, not by inferior or cheap material. It reminds me of the texture of the material that those little rubber band propelled airplanes were made of. The other complaint is that it's noisy. To some degree, I can see this complaint. Certainly, the noise interferes with the aesthetics. It would be much more intriguing to have the air pushed from a quiet portal. What I like about this fan beside the obvious is it's unique tilt and oscillation function. I like the color scheme blue/grey. Instead of 4 choices of speed (one for off), I have variable control via dimmer switch. Of course, no fan blades, so it's a very safe fan especially around small children and pets. Lastly, it makes a great conversational piece. It so novel, I even struck up a conversation about it from a customer in line with me as I was about to purchase the fan. She said she thought it was cool, but didn't know how it worked. I can see now, but didn't at the time, that it's a fusion of laborious design and the air being forced through an aperture less than 1mm wide around the circumference of the loop. But, it may seem like magic or reversed alien technology if you didn't know better.

looks neat, works well, completely variable speed makes it possible to find the perfect amount of airflow. Tilt up and down and very long throw oscillation lets you really get the air where you want it. very quiet operation, too. No easy way to grab it to move it--if you lift it by the diffuser ring, the ring comes off in your hand. Pops right back on, but aggravating.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. We have placed it in our office on the backside of a U shaped desk. The greatest part is no noise and the level of the air blowing can be minimal. This is important because our forms would fly everywhere. Yes, it is winter but I husband gets hot in the office while I am cold. This is a perfect solution! In addition it is very stylish and high tech looking! Thank you Bestbuy for another great deal!!

A great fan with no exposed blades. Looks good, has good air flow. Not much louder than a regular fan, except maybe when turned to full speed. Oscillates along a wide path. A little pricey, but what is safety and style worth?

I thought the ideal of having a bladeless fan was interesting. I brought this fan about two weeks ago. I found this fan to have less noise than the fan I kept by my bed. It keeps our bedroom cool at night and make it much easier for me to sleep through the night without having many night sweats.

This air multiplier is great! I use it on-stage during performances. It keeps me cool, and yet it is quiet even around sensitive microphones. Everyone loves to look at it and stick their hand through the "tunnel"! My only gripe is the price-I can appreciate premium pricing for the latest and greatest technology, but you could buy 10 regular fans for this price. That is kind of on the steep side. Still, I took the plunge and I am very happy with this product.

    Stunning fan, but...

Its more like a sculpture that happens to be a fan. I love it and would get more when the price comes down, but it seems more suited for a family room than the bedroom. The motor that generates the breeze is a little noisy, sort of like a high pitched whine, and thats at low speed. Crank it up and it sounds like a small power tool is running. I use it in the family room where the TV and people talking drown out the noise. Plus why keep something so beautiful secluded to yourself in the bedroom. Show it off, yeh, the fan equals a PS3, but so does a toilet bowl and a handmade italian shoes. Value is placed where one appreciates it. Other than that, as advertised, easy to clean, won't chop off fingers.

    Performance matches design

We use the fan in a media room and a music room where equipment used produces significant heat and it is inefficient to turn central a.c. Unit up just to cool one room. This fan does not distort sound like blade fans do, and cools more effectively. It's appearance also blends well with technical equipment in room. Well done!

Bought this as a last minute Christmas gift for my wife because of the price. I'm glad I did because she absolutely loves it and we are able to use it in the bedroom on the night stand. The fan is blade-less so if you have pets like us (3 cats) no need to worry about them getting hurt or children as well. The fan also tilts up or down as well as oscillates. I don't think I would spend $300 of this fan but $100 is definitely worth it

    The Dyson Fan

Going to the store and doing much research, I have come to the conclusion that this fan: 1) Is not worth the high price 2) plastic caseing is highly breakable for such a high price & small stand that will not stand up to tilting for a fall even on the floor! 3) NO remote, NO low, med and high levels, NO timer, no great features of $50.00 regular fans... 4) High pitched sound when in use is unheard of when paying so much for a fan, I have the same problem with my Dyson vacumn! I love the way it works but it gives me a headache. You pay a price you should not have to hear loud anything!!! :o(
