To begin with, she thought it was an excessive amount of money to spend for a straightening iron. I argued that her birthday only comes once a year, and we have a dyson vacuum so it’s probably a quality item. I told her try it, if you don’t think it outperforms you’re current straightener, we will return it. There’s no sense in having a $500 paperweight. Joke as I did that is EXACTLY what it is. She opened it the day after purchase and tried to charge it, the on button blinked white half a dozen times and went out. Charged for hours: nothing. No lights, no sound, no lcd signs. I told her to call dyson for tech support, the thing is a dyson; this is quality at its best. They superinflate the price just to have a high end brand that most people can’t/won’t buy...how can it be DOA right out of the box??? So she called dyson and after getting all her info (they actually register it for you whether you’re gonna keep it or not), the tech which determines with one question that the item has to be replaced asks if we want to return it through dyson or bring it back to Best Buy. What!!! She just confirmed that this $500 hair straightener is DOA right out of the box. Sorry Dyson, I will be returning this to Best Buy ASAP. Quality Control is horrible for a new product to not work at all. A certain defect is one thing, but totally dead?? It has a two year warranty which isn’t a comfort knowing that this thing is not built to the specs of the vacuums. Best case is it can last for 10 years and I guess you got your money’s worth. Worst case is it can last just outside of the warranty period and basically you paid $250 a year to rent a state of the art straightener ( I use that term very loosely as most straighteners, state of the art or not, at least turn on). If you are one of the lucky ones (I use that term loosely too) that were able to get the unit to turn on and function properly, pay very close attention and note that everything continues to work properly as I do not think this item is built to last.
