A (Pricey) Revolution in Home Air Treatment

As an owner of multiple Dyson cooling fans, I've been hoping that the company would finally release a product like this: a system that combines cooling, purification, and humidifying into one machine. Combining these three things has been a revelation for someone like me living in a dry climate with bad allergies. The PH01 has replaced my older Dyson fan and clunky humidifier, and the amount of technology and features packed into this machine is truly astounding. But it might not be the one-stop solution for every home.
=== SETUP AND DESIGN ===
I was surprised to see just how large of a box the PH01 comes in. Luckily, the machine itself comes mostly assembled, so all you really have to do is install the filters and fill the water tank as outlined in the quick start manual. You'll want to make sure you place the machine the spot you anticipate keeping it before filling the water tank, as the machine gets quite heavy and difficult to move after you add water. Also, make sure you point the front of the fan towards the area where you want the greatest cooling effect (see Cooling Performance section below). Finally, download the Dyson app to your phone and follow the simple pairing instructions to connect your machine to your Wi-Fi network. The PH01 is yet another easy and straight-forward setup experience from Dyson.
The machine itself is actually shorter than I was expecting it to be. I was hoping it would be taller like the older TP01 and TP04 models. A taller design would likely help this machine achieve a greater coverage in air flow, but I suppose sacrifices had to be made in order to combine cooling, purification, and humidifying. Regardless, the machine looks very nice, if not a little chunky or wide. The white and silver combination should fit into almost any home.
=== COOLING PERFORMANCE ===
This is the only fan I have in the living room and kitchen area of my "open floor plan" apartment. In this type of open environment, the PH01 does an excellent job of circulating air. However, the fan doesn't truly oscillate. Rather, the two vertical tubes on both sides of the loop rotate left and right (with 45- or 90-degree oscillation options) while the base of the machine remains stationary. This means that virtually no air is directed or circulated behind the machine -- only to the front and sides. As such, the "oscillation" on this machine is lacking compared to other Dyson purifiers like the TP04, which offers true 350-degree oscillation. Also, as mentioned above, the shorter design of this machine might also limit the amount of area that can be covered in larger spaces. This is certainly something to consider if you have a larger home.
=== PURIFYING AND HUMIDIFYING PERFORMANCE ===
What I love about the PH01 is how seamlessly it combines air purifying and humidifying into one clean package. The "auto" modes for both purifying and humidifying can make this a "set it and forget it" machine. But the geek in me loves looking at all of the data available in the Dyson app, which shows a detailed history of how the machine has cleaned and humidified your air. For reference, I live in the downtown area of a highly populated city in the desert known for poor air quality. When I installed the machine, my air quality rating was in the moderate (yellow) range, according to the app. After just 1 day of using the PH01, my rating had improved to "good" (green) and has remained there ever since. Today, six days after setting up the machine, my average air quality rating is "good" and the app gives a detailed breakdown of exactly which contaminants it filtered and when it did so.
The humidifier component of the PH01 is equally impressive. Average outdoor humidity in my city probably averages about 10 or 15 percent. The first day I installed the machine, it detected my indoor humidity at 28%, which is low. After six days of using the machine, my average humidity according to the app (and my Nest thermostat) is now 45% and my apartment is noticeably more comfortable. You can adjust your desired humidity in increments from 30% to 70%. But what I love most is just how automatic it is -- I don't have to run a separate machine or deal with any complicated settings. It's just a seamless part of the PH01.
=== OTHER FEATURES AND THOUGHTS ===
There are too many features of this machine to detail here, but here are some things that stand out to me:
- The PH01 uses ultraviolet light to clean your water before it is emitted into the air, so don't be scared to use tap water.
- The machine basically cleans itself. Pressing the "deep clean" button on the base of the fan walks your through an automatic cleaning cycle which eliminates mineral build-up and bacteria. There are three packets of descaling powder included in the box.
- The screen on the front of the machine seems rather dim to my eyes. At a distance in a bright room, it's hard to tell what fan speed is selected or really read any other information on the screen. Not as big of an issue at night or when the lights are off.
=== OVERALL ===
I really like the PH01 and it has improved the air quality in my apartment without question. But there are two major things to consider: the type of home you want to use this in, and the price. If you live in a wet, humid climate, you may want to consider just how useful the humidifying feature of this machine will be. If you have a larger home or living area, it's very possible that Dyson's other purifying fans (like the TP04) will do a better job circulating air in your home while still providing the same level of air purification.
For those who can truly benefit from the purifying and humidifying aspects of this machine -- particularly those who live in dry climates -- then the price of the PH01 is a tough pill to swallow. For me personally, I think it's worth it. As someone who values clean living and embraces the way technology can improve our lives, I think Dyson has created a revolutionary machine here. I just hope they can eventually settle on a price point that is accessible to more people.

I've been wanting and needing a really good humidifier for a very long time now, and Dyson truly does it again and does NOT disappoint whatsoever!
This product is amazing! It has all of the bells and whistles you could possibly want and need for a dual humidifier and air purifier.
Out of the box, it's like Dyson's other similar looking fans in style, but it's very sleek and functional. Plug and play, no hassle whatsoever. It's not often that you come across an ingenious device that can somehow both create a humidified environment while also cooling you down.
It's feature of hygienically removing 99.9% of bacteria in the water is a game changer as well. I'm not as worried or afraid of mold developing in the water.
This is truly just an amazing product that I look forward to using for years to come.

I really wanted this to work. But I went through two of them. Each with their own issue, first one wouldn't add moisture, second had an error message after one day. Dyson directed me to a local Dyson shop but they were telling me it would be weeks to work on it. Poor QC for a pricey item.

Hello Izzy, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm so sorry to hear that you have had issues with multiple PH01 Pure Humidify + Cool units. With regard to humidity, the machine can reach 70% humidity, but getting to this target depends on environmental conditions like the size and ventilation of the room, and the relative humidity of the surrounding air. Even when the machine is working properly, it can naturally be harder to reach a target humidity if the air is relatively dry to begin with, if it’s an “open” environment where non-humidified air is flowing in, etc.
While I understand you have already taken the time to reach out for support with the problem, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Pure Air

First let me start by saying that the Dyson Pure Humidifier + Cool is quite the multi-functional purifier.
I was a little surprised at the size of this, as it comes about up to my hips. this unit is really designed to move and filter a lot of air.
Set up was pretty simple using the quick start pamphlet. The actual manual is located within the application you download to your phone.
Setting up the app was simple. After you download it you simply search for your new purifier, then connect your purifier to the internet.
I had it up and running in about 15 minutes. However, the next day I had an error on the screen and could not clear it even through a power cycle. I called Dyson and they told me to send it back for replacement. They made the process very easy. Very nice to work with a quality company. The replacement works perfect.
This unit will purify and humidify the air automatically or you can run the fan or humidity levels with the push of a button on your phone or the remote.
I will not bore you with all the technical details of how it cleans your air, but I find it does a great job. If we simply cook in the house and it detects the air quality change and kicks into high gear and filters it out right away.
What I like is it keeps the pollen levels down during this time of the year. Both the humans and pets in our home are affected with seasonal allergies, and this unit has helped reduce those symptoms.
The added humidification is going to be great in our dry winter months as well.
I recently moved it into my office (where I work from home) to clean out the stale air. Wife said it really does a nice job. Air smells better and to me it feels easier to breath.
The app is nice. it will show you daily and weekly history of your air quality and how the machine is working to keep your air at the desired levels. It even shows you the air temperature and air quality outside which it gets from being connected to the internet.
You can also see the projected life cycle of your filters so you know when to clean them. The cleaning additive is included with the system to clean your machine three times. Haven’t had to do it yet but it looks like a very easy process of adding the citric acid powder to the water tank and running and it in clean mode.
From the app or the remote you can change that airflow direction or airspeed, humidity levels etc. You can also change the air output from straight ahead with no movement to 45 degree spread of air to 90° spread and even oscillating which they call ‘breeze’.
I keep mine on automatic and the system is very quiet, the only time I hear the fan kick into a higher level is when it detects something it needs to clean.
Overall, A little costly, but if you struggle with allergies and want to breath pure, moist air, this Dyson purifier will fit the bill.

Best of 2 worlds.

This filter is the best of two worlds.
We currently use two Honeywell filters one HEPA and one air humidifier. This filter replaces both of them.
My son my son suffers from allergies and mild asthma.
Setup took about 10 mins. I installed the app on my phone and was up and running. App was super easy to connect and it works via cell wireless and does not require wifi. WiFi was only for initial set up.
I tested this and performance is really good. Features are really nice. Humidifier reservoir lasted for about 3 days at high settings. App also allows you to track various existing conditions of the filter. It shows VOC, PM10, and NO2. Not sure if the sensor really is that accurate, so take it with a grain of salt.. Function to change it from direct fan type to rear diffuser is really nice. You can also use the remote to control the filter.
Smell coming out of the filter is good. No off gas from the plastic housing. Water reservoir is easy to fill and put back into the filter.
Size is decent. Upright is a little tall but all things considered the overall footprint is good because of all the functions available.
I would recommend this product for allergy and asthma sufferers.
Good job Dyson.

I kept this item for a few weeks and I really wanted it to be awesome. And in a way, it is awesome. If you want a stylish machine that you can control with an app that purifies the air, humidifies the air, and blows air around, all while cleaning the water it uses to humidify, then I don't think there is a better machine out there. Unfortunately, this device doesn't really do any of its three tasks all that well. So you are getting mediocre performance at a premium price.
The fan itself is pretty weak. It isn't a loud fan, but it's not really that quiet for how little air it puts out. The oscillation features are gimicky and not really that great. Dyson seems to have sacrificed function to make it fashionable. Honestly, you can buy far superior fans for like $50.
The humidifier is pretty good. I really like that you can see on the application how humid the room is, but I think that measurement is limited to the area right around the fan. If you had a hygrometer that you could put across the room, it would be more helpful. I also love that this uses UV to make sure the water doesn't get nasty in the tank. That is a big problem with cheaper humidifiers. That said, if you can keep a normal humidifier clean, you could get a better humidifier for like $50.
The purifier is fine, I guess. We also owned a Honeywell HPA 300, and I think that was superior in terms of cleaning the air. It has a pre-filter and HEPA filters, and it has all the onboard controls you could want. Plus you don't need to worry about a remote/app to control it. Don't get me wrong, the app is nice and fun to play around with, but sometimes you just want to simply control the thing without having to find the remote or pull out your phone. You can buy the Honeywell for $250. So, at this point, for $350, you can have a vastly superior fan, humidifier, and purifier for $450 less than this Dyson. Would it look as nice? No way. Would it be compact? No way. But it would do the job better for a lot less.
The app is fun. The idea of knowing what kind of pollutants are in the air is nice, but in practice, it is really kind of frustrating. The categories of pollutants are pretty broad, and some of the categories seem to just go up when you turn the purifier up. This probably is just the way things work and it isn't Dyson's fault, but it makes the information less helpful. It's not like you can wait for the levels to reach a certain point and then turn the device on and have them drop to an acceptable level. At least, that didn't work in our experience.
The design really is pretty cool. My kids love that you can't see or touch any blades, and we like that they can't too. If it were up to me, I'd like the device to be a little taller so that it is blowing from a higher level. It looks much shorter and stubbier than I expected. But still, it seems well made and it is beautiful.
In summary, if you have $800 bucks burning a hole in your pocket and you want a beautiful machine that does it all (at an okayish level), take a swing at this device. It isn't terrible. It just isn't great. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. It is somewhere between average and good. And if it were $400, I'd probably have kept it. But $800? Too much.

Hello John, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review, and experience, with the Dyson PH01 Pure Humidify + Cool. We were happy to read that you appreciated some of the features of this machine, such as the UV light to remove bacteria from the water. The PH01 uses Dyson's advanced evaporative technology. Rather than releasing water droplets into the air, the machine converts water into vapor, emitting only the water molecule from the machine. Water vapor is too fine to carry anything with it, so particles and minerals from the water get left behind in the machine. We were also glad to hear how handy you found the Dyson Link App to be.
Dyson takes feedback from our owners seriously as we understand that the comments we receive from our customers help us continue to move forward and create technology that makes sense. When designing our technology we are conscious to make sure that our products interact most efficiently for and with our customers. A Refreshing Spring Breeze in your Home!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Do you suffer from allergies? Do you like to Breathe cool fresh Clean air? Do you like to sleep with a fan on?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool may be a device for you! My wife is enjoying it so much she is planning on writing Dyson to ask when a smaller, portable version is coming out to use when we travel!
Features
The Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool is a purifying, humidifying, and cooling fan that is designed to automatically purify and humidify the air inside your living spaces to provide you with a healthier environment. This is accomplished using sensors, filtration, and humidification.
The sensors use local temperature and humidity data from the web to adjust the fan’s cooling and humidification levels to ensure that area it is placed in has the most hygienic air possible. These sensors “automatically detect airborne particles, gasses, temperature, and humidity”. It provides insight into this information on a small screen on the unit as well as via the Dyson Link App, which can also be used to control the machine’s settings. If desired the fan can be controlled via Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri ®.
This fan uses HEPA and activated carbon filters to capture gasses and fine particles including allergens. This is a fully sealed 360-degree filtration system with a 99.97% capture rating of allergens as small as 0.3 microns. It also has what Dyson calls Air Multiplier technology to project over 84 gallons of smooth, powerful airflow per second to circulate the purified, humidified air throughout the room.
One the humidification side of the fan, this unit comes with a 1-gallon water tank that can provide up to 36 hours of hygienic humidification. This means you will not have to constantly fill up the tank. The unit also has an Ultraviolet system that is used to remove 99.9% of bacteria in the water being used for humidification. The humidification system is based on Dyson developed evaporative methods using a woven mesh evaporator, the results in an extremely fine water vapor that makes it invisible and incapable of carrying any bacteria with it.
Other features include:
• Breeze Mode – the airflow mimics a natural breeze
• Fan mode – with options for 0, 45 or 90 degrees of oscillation
• Backwards Airflow mode – to gain air quality benefits without cooling you.
• Night mode – uses the quietest settings and dimmed display to allow you to sleep and have purified and humidified air.
• Sleep timer – this will allow you to program the machine to turn off after pre-set intervals from 30 minutes to 8 hours.
• The unit has a multifunction remote to control the various settings including automatic modes for both purification and humidification mode.
Setting Up the Unit
Setting up the unit is very straight forward and includes needing to remove packing some packing tape and cardboard from the unit that is there to make sure the unit arrives in perfect shape. It reminds me of setting up a new printer as far as the tape. The filters easily snap into place and then the panels are reattached to the unit (see picture accompanying this review).
Next one needs to fill the tank with water. The tank is held in place via two levers on the side of the unit. The lid of the tank has the pump and electric connections to allow the water to flow to the rest of the unit and has a nice carrying handle and small wheels to help it roll into place.
The final step of setup is installing and connecting the machine to your tablet or smartphone via the Dyson Link app. The app is very quick to set up and includes a step by step guide for connecting the fan to the internet so it can download your local air quality data to help it perform at its best. The app has 3 main functions – to control the fan, to get air quality data, and to keep you informed when the unit needs to be cleaned or the filters need to be replaced.
The unit comes with 3 packs of a Citric acid solution that is used to clean it when it tells you to do so. The cleaning cycle is used to eliminate mineral build-up in the machine’s water system and the machine has built-in step-by-step instructions on how to manage the cycle.
Usage Impressions
Once set up the fan is very easy to use. It quickly becomes a "set and forget" device. With the main activity being to refill the water tank. For our usage pattern, primarily at night and in the morning, the 36 hours of humidification time will last for 7 -10 days. Once we found the right fan speed and humification settings we have largely left the unit alone except to turn it off and back on.
Initially, we were very skeptical of this unit because we had in place a very low cost and somewhat effective box fan plus filter system to help control the allergen level and provide air circulation with some purification to keep the allergens low. This is especially true when you factor in the cost of the Dyson unit. After several days of use, however, we have found this to be an excellent device that has reduced the “morning allergy flow”. It has been a very pleasant surprise.
Summary
Overall, this unit has extremely nice features and as previously stated has been a nice addition to our home. The unit is easy to set up and maintain.
While pricey, the unit is designed to keep you healthier and by using this you might be able to avoid potential future health issues by breathing in better quality air. For us, being healthy and delaying future health issues is something we are willing to invest in. Still, it loses a star due to the price.
Pros: it does what it says it will do, HEPA Filtration
Cons: Cost – both initially and for replacement filters

A Breath of Fresh Air

When the Dyson air purification system arrived was surprised at the size of the product container, fairly large and the unit stands at 36.4 inches. After assembling the unit in the middle of the living room floor was questioning how it would look with our furnishings. Only took a short time to see that we found the design to be spot on, my wife loves the look.
Seldom have I been more excited waiting for product to arrive than I was for the Dyson system. Have had HEPA filtering systems in my home for decades, appreciate having clean fresh air for my family’s health, comfort and well-being. Upon arrival and familiarizing myself with system I became even more enthusiastic having the advanced air purification and monitoring system in my home! Have never seen an air system this advanced and well suited for the needs of the modern home.
Setup was a breeze, less than half hour unboxing and assembling the few included parts and getting the system running and connected online with Wi-Fi the first time. Quite simple. Only caveat being the Quick Start Guide needs one or two small tweaks, that said setting up the unit with the quick start instructions was intuitive. Dyson does provide a Full User Guide online which is thorough and well thought out. The manual is much appreciated.
Dyson Link app is a Gem, it is in a word (or two) a truly amazing app with extraordinary system feedback of all system monitoring which I will list below and provides complete control of your air purification system. Kudos to the Dyson team.
Accessories/supplies include a remote with full system control, power connector with a generous length cable, and Includes three Descaling Kits for deep cleaning the system – “which are citric acid powder for removing mineral build up within the machine” during deep cleaning maintenance.
Good Stuff:
- Humidifier – no visible mist
- Evaporative cooling - can be turned off by reversing airflow
- Airflow in the room is excellent
- Alexa enabled
- Night Mode – quieter with dimmed display
- Sleep Timer
- Extremely quiet at all fan settings – believe this achieved with the Mixed Flow Impeller which is same tech used in jet engines
- 77 gallons per second air output
- Auto detects airborne particles and gases and reports in real time
- Removes gases from air and bacteria in humidifier water
Monitoring - displayed on LCD and in Dyson Link app:
- Comprehensive indoor air quality analysis
a. Air Quality Index (AQI)
b. Temperature
c. Relative Humidity (RH)
d. Particulate Matter (PM2.5) – Includes smoke, bacteria and allergens
e. Particulate Matter (PM10) – Includes dust, mold and pollen
f. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
g. Nitrogen dioxide and oxidizing gases (NO2)
- Local Reporting for outdoor air quality
a. Air quality index (AQI)
b. Outdoor temperature
c. Relative humidity (RH)
d. Pollen report for dominate pollen levels – Grass and Tree are being reported on my system
Literally amazed with the technology that Dyson has employed in their engineering, design and build quality of the system, and I am seldom this impressed with any tech applications.
Bottom-line the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool system is the most comprehensive air system on the market and for me it means peace of mind knowing my family has clean air at home, and that is the real bottom-line.

Dyson is well known in its manufacture of high-quality home appliances and technology, and through my personal experience with products of this company and when it comes to Air cooler, purifier, and humidifier products, I do not think that there is another company competing Dyson in this field. Regarding the big size of the air purifier/ humidifier, and given the size of the space I have, it does not pose any problems at all. As for the features that this amazing product offers, they are as follows: I suffer from seasonal allergies, and this season is a difficult period for me to the point I have to visit my health provider 3-4 times during Spring and Summer due to the difficulty of breathing, coughing, and sneezing that accompanies the day and intensifies more during the night. I want to be logical and do not exaggerate that I felt a difference two hours after Dyson was set to auto on the air purifier and humidifier and I monitored the quality of air and humidity and how it is improving from my app on iPhone “Simple and just like that”. A great device for those looking for clean air and enough moisture to reduce coughing due to the fluctuation of the weather from one season to another besides cleans the air up to 400 sq. ft. I have the Air purifier TP02 and got it replaced by this model PH10 because I need a humidifier to create some moisture to solve the dryness that triggers the annoying cough. Control functions are smartly designed, oscillation moves quiet, airflow can be changed from front to back, in addition to independent control to auto use purifier or humidifier alone. Highly recommended!!

It is hard to know exactly where to begin but suffice it to say that this is honestly one of the most unique and fully featured multi-function fans I have seen. To call it a fan is coarse, really, as it is much much more than just a fan. It humidifies, purifies, and all around circulates air in a way that you have to feel and smell more than just read about.
As a fan, it excels. It has 10 different speeds of fan strength and can also be set to a backward airflow mode to simply humidify and purify the air in your room(s) without cooling; very useful for the colder months. It also has an auto mode so it can increase and decrease the speed to filter and maintain air purity. Furthermore, it has a nighttime mode that turns the fan down to a quieter setting and dims the screen so has not to disturb you in the dark. It has three oscillation modes: 45º, 90º, and my favorite, breeze mode which imitates an indirect to direct shifting breeze just like if you were sitting out on your favorite patio chair on a breezy afternoon.
As a purifier, this thing is fully speced out. I won’t needlessly copy and paste all of the specific filter specifications, but I will say that the real time number read out both on the actual screen of the device and on the smartphone app is awesome for knowing how your air purity is doing; I included some screen shots to show what that info looks like on the application. The app is also helpful as it lets you know how your air filter is doing on efficacy and when you will need to replace it. I am not sure how accurate this will actually be or whether it will just be used to make you buy relatively expensive filter replacements more often than is truly needed, but I am trusting it as a useful guide to know when to start thinking about replacement. Beyond just purifying the air that flows in and out of this machine, they even use an ultraviolet cleanse technology to kill bacteria in the water that is used for humidification.
As a humidifier, this has some of the best listed features I have seen to maintain the humidity in the spaces this machine influences. As I mentioned above, the water that gets aerosolized for humidification is exposed to ultraviolet light to kill bacteria. Additionally, this machine unlike other competitors aerosolizes the water to such a small size that they cannot carry germs. There is no mist that comes out of the machine, so it is safe to be in close proximity to moisture sensitive items like books. The humidification can be adjusted by percentage to meet your needs (awesome for a room where, for example, one might keep wooden instruments sensitive to humidity range) and it has an automatic mode to maintain the humidity. Mine is set to maintain 50% and turns on and off the humidifier function accordingly to maintain this. The 1-gallon water reservoir is generous and easy to remove and fill with water. The specs state that in auto mode, the tank can give you roughly 15 hours depending on the humidity levels of your rooms. For example, the outside air is about 57% in my area in the Spring right now, so the auto mode probably would last many more hours. I haven’t had the fan on long enough in one straight go yet to test this. An additional cool feature the app has is that you can choose whether your water is hard, soft, or in between, and it will tell you how many hours of humidification you can go before needing to do a deep clean cycle. On hard water, it is looking like 650 hours or so is how long I have to go. The machine is able to do this clean cycle itself with the use of citric acid powder that they include three cycles worth of in the box! The instructions on how to do this are included right on the reservoir and can be looked up online too, so don’t worry that you won’t be able to figure it out.
This is the fan for the modern-minded individual who is comfortable with electronics and enjoys the ability to use applications on their phone and smart assistants like Siri and Alexa to control their electronics. The Dyson app connected to this fan super smoothly as I followed the instruction prompts and now has given me total real-time control of this fan. Even with just the included remote, the fan is great and will benefit anyone interested in its use!
Overall, I cannot recommend this machine enough. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps to get you excited about the awesome purchase you are about to make!

I bought two of these machines about a month apart from Best Buy. First one on Nov 1, 2020, and second one on Jan 4 2021.
Unfortunately the second one (Jan) gave up (had some kind of drip tray error). The fans also stopped opening and closing on power on/off. Fortunately it died 3 days before the return period and thanks to Best Buy's return policy, I didn't have to go through Dyson's (supposedly) hard to deal with warranty and instead got a refund.
The first machine I purchased was used in a small master bedroom which felt like it got the job done, however, I placed the second machine in the main living room area which was well above the 400 sq ft that it's advertised to work in. The humidity kept around 33-35% but that was running on 10 speed with the air going back 24/7 (maybe this is why it died). Looking on reddit however it seems like some other users are encountering this 'drip tray error'.
Nevertheless I'm still giving this 4 stars because both machines worked well while they did (the one in the bedroom from Nov. is still working). It's easy to clean as well and have had no real issues besides sometimes hearing a very quiet chirping sound when the fan is oscillating around speeds 5-7. In addition, the connection to wi-fi, the Dyson app, and overall ease of use is pretty good.

The sweet smell of clean air, mixed with the delightful feel of humidity. That is what you will get when you purchase this product.
The setup was quick and easy. The app on the phone works wonderfully well & lets you know what the air quality and humidity levels are both inside the home and outside.
We have had the product for just about a month, and are totally delighted with our purchase. Highly recommend to anyone who needs a more humid environment (Southern California dry weather here!) & also wants cleaner air for the home (once again, Southern California!!).
The price is high, but after purchasing several humidifiers & air purifiers over the years, we realized, you truly get what you pay for. Being able to actually thoroughly clean a humidifier tank, and having a consistently working air purifier seems like something that would be easy to have...and with this Dyson product, it finally is.

I really like the fact that it could act as a fan, air purifier and humidifier especially when the heater is on.

Since I purchased this machine, I've been sleeping much better. No more dry mouth in the morning as this works great as humidifier and air purifier. It is also a great fan. Dyson products are like the Apple products for home appliances. Very simple to use, clean, refill, setup, etc. I know it's not inexpensive, but it is certainly less than buying a separate humidifier, air purifier, and fan. It's also very quiet.

Essentially, a spacey-looking thousand dollar fan. Cannot raise the humidity level in a 200 sq. ft. bedroom while running the fan at 70% overnight (it gets pretty noisy above that), to any higher level than the un-humidified rooms in the rest of the house. 27% is about the maximum it can deliver (according to the app) regardless of outside levels. The mechanical hygrometer sitting atop our Steinway Piano in the living room shows the same reading as that in the bedroom, so the Dyson is basically ineffectual. Air cleaner? I have no means to measure it's actual performance, but anecdotally I can say that during periods of high allergens I awaken with clogged sinuses. It doesn't seem any better than the varieties of basic air cleaners used in other areas of our home. One feature that attracted me was it's supposed ability to notify when cleaning is required. Unfortunately, it's based upon the use of hard tap water. We have VERY hard water, and I would never use it in any humidifier or vaporizer. The real irritation is that there is no way to manually activate the cleaning cycle. Even distilled water can allow algae to build up a slime inside the machine, and the only way to clean it is by hand. It comes with a remote, but the Apple-based app works well, and is much more handy. Unfortunately, it's readings also betray the Dyson's own inability to perform as promised. This also brings up the sad fact of Dyson's LACK of reliability. We are on our third machine in less than a year. Believe me when I say, the LAST thing you ever want to do is re-pack ANY Dyson product to return it. (our premium Dyson stick vac didn't make it to 6 months) If you want to take a chance - Dyson IS very good about sending replacements. Just be prepared to try to communicate with overseas-based called centers every time you go through this. I have always been impressed by Dyson's ads and hoped that some day I could own their products. The sad thing turns to be that ads are the best thing they produce.

Hello oldpilot45,
Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear of your experience with your Dyson PH01 Pure Humidify+Cool machine. The PH01 machine is designed to give the best of both worlds in a humidifier and purifier, eliminating the issue of one cancelling the other out when they are seperated devices. It is designed to provide moisture in the air while providing cleaner air than what it inputs.
The machine can reach 70% humidity, but getting to this target depends on environmental conditions like the size and ventilation of the room, and the relative humidity of the surrounding air. Even when the machine is working properly, it can naturally be harder to reach a target humidity if the air is relatively dry to begin with, if it’s an “open” environment where non-humidified air is flowing in, etc. The time it takes to purify the space in auto-mode depends on environmental factors as well.
We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected], and we will be in touch.
Best Wishes, Miella Dyson Customer Support

This unit is expensive but..... I see you running away, but!
The cost is justified if you are looking for a unit that does it all.
- Fan with forward and back flow with oscillation
- Hepa filter
- Humidifier with filter and UV
- Remote control
- Air quality monitoring with inside and outside reporting
- Active air quality and fan control
- Smart app control app with programing, alerts, and full control of the unit from anywhere.
Once you understand that all these features are in this unit and how the unit works you will understand it's cost. There are no other products on the market that come close to this, only better Dyson units that are newer.
I have had no issues thus far with my unit, fingers crossed as I have heard that this model can have pump failure.

Made well of course and easy to install / use. This summer was particularly hot & with smoke from the wildfires wafting in, I needed something that would purify the air and cool off our master bedroom room as well as raise the humidity level. Well we got 75% - air purifier / humidifier is top notch, cooling not so much.
I thought about taking it back but, changed my mind after having it a few weeks. It cools enough and really does clean / humidify well. I live in a very dry semi-arid climate and really do like not having two devices to clean / humidify indoor air.
I really enjoy the Dyson Link app on that was easy to load on my phone (pairs with machine). It works flawlessly and is very intuitive and easy to use. Of course you can just use the remote but I really prefer the app.
Besides better cooling, I wish it would cover more than 400 sq ft and cost less of course. But quality comes at a price. I'm happy with purchase.
