We've owned Kirby, Oreck and numerous Hoovers, Bissells, and Eureka vacuums in the past. Each one had its faults. The Oreck was light and easy to use, but had no attachments and the belts, handle and cord broke constantly. The rest had attachments but were noisy, cumbersome and too heavy for my wife to use effectively. We've had the Dyson about a month now are are really pleased with the performance, weight and size. It fits neatly in our downstairs closet. We have a Bi-level with carpeting downstairs and hardwood floors with area rugs upstairs. The Dyson is perfect for us. We purchased the refurbished model and it arrived in perfect (new) condition. A great buy and highly recommended!

This vacuum has enormous suction power for a lightweight. It is full of innovations - the main hose looks like something an astronaut would use, and there are many idiosyncrasies, if I may, that make you say "wow, every thing's multipurpose on this vac." OK, the refurb thing right? 30 days later - 4 uses, there is NO PROBLEM with this vac. I thought I had a problem with the rollers not spinning, but a quick Internet search revealed the fix and it was solved - no returning to the store. My only problem was with my expectation that this vac - which by the way "doesn't lose suction" - was going to magically pick up every piece of debris with a once-over. Ah......No. It's amazing for dust because of the suction, but it has trouble with down feathers embedded in the rug, holding on for dear complacency with their multi fibrous branches. But wouldn't any vac have that problem? I would not trade it for any other vac - period. Comma instead, one more thing... Can you tell I'm having fun with this? The vac is small. It requires maintenance. Be prepared to read the manual carefully - work everything out. If I sent it back quickly because of my rollers, I would have been disappointed and I would not have so much fun writing this review.

This is a great machine and would have gotten 5 stars except for a few minor details. I bought it because it was the only vacuum that I could find that has an easy to remove brush. One quarter turn with a penny on the underside and the brush slides out, no rubber belt no screws no hassle. I have to cut the hair off of my brush every week and I have tried 4 styles/brands over the years all drove me nuts. The negatives are it has an irritating high pitch whine and the cord is short. Another 5 feet and I could get my whole room. I am having to find new accessible outlets. Also the unit is supposed to lock in place when dragging it around on the wheels but when trying to move it it disengages too easily and the front end flops back down in vacuum position. It is easier to lift it and move from room to room . Very light and easy to lift.

With two small dogs in the house, we have been going through a vacuum every year. After reading the reviews on the Dyson, we decided to give it a try. What a vacuum cleaner.....We have named it "Monster" because it cleans so well and pulls the fibers back up to look like new. As far as the pet hair, no other vacuum has compared, and the ease to empty the cannister along with the accessories for the stairs and furniture, we feel we have made the right choice. Oh, and did I mention the ease in pushing "Monster" around. It makes vacuuming a pleasure. Thanks Dyson and Best Buy for helping us finally find the vacuum we needed.

After reading other reviews of the vacuum I was laughing. Once it came to our house I sounded just like everyone elses reviews!!! I sound like a vacuum sales man every time I vacuum the house! I hadn't used carpet fresh on my carpets for three months and had been vacuuming with my old vacuum, the first time I vacuumed with the dyson it sucked up carpet fresh like I had just put it down!! It was almost embaressing how much stuff I pulled out of the living room alone- even my 8 yr old thinks it's great to vacuum! Super easy to dump the canister without making a mess- and swapping out to the wand is easy. It came to the house looking like new and for a fraction of the cost- I feel like I've gotten my money out of it already!

I have gone through numerous vacuums in the last 20 years and even tried the 8 pound one the Ads brag about and none of them can compare to the Dyson. I have two cats, one dog and three birds and I don't have to run over the area numerous times to pick up the hair and dander The power is better than any I have tried in the past. It's quiet and very easy to handle. Love the idea the brushs are so simple to clean plus the bin is super easy to empty and clean.

I have had this Dyson model for several months now and it works great! I bought it refurbished and you would never know. This model is very compact and light, but along with that comes with a very small debris canister that fills quickly. The canister can only handle one small carpeted or medium hardfloor room before it has to be emptied, so in a larger home it may not be suitable. That being said, this is a great vacuum for smaller spaces and for pet lovers who need to spot clean.

My wife says it is the best practical present anyone has ever given her. It picks up everything, very powerfull but yet very lightweigh and easy to move from spot to spot. Filters work great, no dust or odor and fairly simple to clean and mantain. Very satisfied with the purchase, i just wish the refurbished items carried something more than 6 month warranty.

I love this vacuum cleaner. I got it to replace an almost new Bissell Healthy Home, which was great but at 27 lbs too heavy for me to use. This Dyson, being refurbished, saved me some money and it is one of my best puchases ever. It is powerful enough to deal with pet fur, yet light enough (11 lbs) to use with ease. I don't mind vacuuming now! It glides around and allows you to get under a coffeetable, for example, but not under a bed. The only attachment is very useful, it does corners and edges and furniture. I do wish there were a couple more attachments included, but not a big deal. It is very easy to set up and the only tricky part in using it is to make sure you don't overfill the (small) dust container. I completely recommend this Dyson; I'm so glad I got it.

I've been a fan of Dyson even before owning their products because of its honest nevertheless nice looking designs. When I got the product, I discovered many areas if not all of it to be very much innovative and resolved. Maybe what really fascinated me was that someone/ team did such an extraordinary design on something once I thought was so plain & boring. I find them as one of the master pieces of industrial design & I'm so happy that I have one of them sitting in my living room. :)

This vacuum has been amazing. After dealing with a broken belt on our old one during almost every use I finally ordered this vacuum. The only problem I have had with it at all is that it picks up so much more dirt than our old vacuum that we are constantly emptying the dirt bin. The motor driven brush is great. Its light and easy to use. Small but very effective!!!

bought a refurbished version and was a bit skeptical but once opened, we found it to be just like new. never would be able to tell that it had been refurbed. great value as this is $100 less than a brand new one.

I have two dogs and very old carpet but the Dyson was up for the challenge! I have never seen so much hair and dirt in a canister vacuum before. This Dyson has changed my life :)

Extremely fast shipping and the product seems brand new. Picks up almost anything you throw at it but I wish the height of the sweeper could be adjusted. It's a bit tough to maneuver on my thick rug but other than that I love it.

so far is more than expected. wife loves it. good price and I think that re-furbished produts can sometimes be better that store purchaces since the problem has been addressed and repaired, rather than you get the new product home then find out it doesn't work.

O.k. so I thought with the name being Dyson it would be worth the doe. Even though it was refurbished. It easily glides on any surface, handles with a breeze, very light weight. Not heavy or awkward, the suction is just o.k. and I have 2 dogs that shed a lot. So I'm always cleaning! I have been through many of vacuum cleaners and found nothing spectacular about the Dyson.

Turns corners great, sucks like crazy! Really like the performance.

This vacuum is very compact. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver, but still picked up all the nasty things that my old vacuum left behind. I would recommend to anyone.

The first time i used it i noticed a huge difference.

Everyone I know that has a Dyson loves it. I just got a dog and I had been replacing vacuums it seemed like every year. So I thought it was time to make the investment in a Dyson. My budget really only allowed a refurb and I'm okay with that since they are guaranteed as well. I bought my first Dyson just in May 2010. The switch was faulty. At first, I turned on if I held the On button down for a about 10 seconds. After 2 weeks though, it would turn off randomly. It would turn on randomly. So I returned it. Then in June 2010 I bought the same model again. I have all hardwood floors with oriental rugs in 4 rooms. Basically, not a lot of carpet/rug duty mostly just the hardwood. So the hose worked fine for the most part. However, when I used it as a standard vacuum, it automatically started that "i'm clogged up noise" and quick sucking. It wasn't clogged up. There was some dog hair and dirt. But after about 10 times of cleaning it out and trying it again, I said forget it! A Dyson should be able to suck! I never even got the Bagless Container half full. So I returned it. I now have bought a new Dyson, same model but not refurbed. We'll see how this goes.
