It works well for me on all surfaces of my home, including carpeted and hard surfaces. It easily slides under most of my furniture I have had a full size dyson vacuum for the last 15 years and it works as well today as the day I purchased it without any issues in all that time. . Although Dysons are not cheap, in the end I feel like they are a value because they work so well and last a long time. I would highly recommend this product to anyone, in fact I did recommend one to my mother! Hope this helps.
