Nest, Honeywell and Ecobee products were compared. Reviews of the Ecobee were strong. I am completely satisfied. Originally I didn't install the unit correctly. Contacted Customer Service and had cold air within five minutes. I especially like the additional room sensors which help maintain an average house temperature. I have recommended this product to several friends and coworkers. Would buy again.

A little daunting for self installation, especially if you don't have the necessary wires with your current thermostat like I did. Although, once the unit is setup, it is a fantastic little thermostat - seems to keep the place better regulated as far as temperature goes (we placed the remote sensor on the far side of the house from the thermostat) and remote access is a great feature too.

So far so good! The only thing I'm not excited about is losing the auto heat and cool settings once you enable HomeKit. I also wish we could adjust the time period that auto away kicks on. I think it is defaulted at 2 hours, but there is no way to change it to kick on earlier. I love the stats on the website. I bought this for our new home, so I'm not sure if my electric bill has improved or not. The extra sensors and having more control over your system make this much better than the Nest.

While running errands, I was able to turn on the air and come home to a cool house. Highly recommend this product. Simple user interface, easy to learn and program. Installation was simple, I was up and running in about 30 minutes.

This has all the features for getting the most out of your thermostat and climate control systems. Nest is basic compared to this and its multi room sensors. Look up all the features and its growth potential and if you subscribe to apple home kit you will be impressed once you set it up correctly. It will take some tweaking but once its set you will love its connivence.

The Ecobee is a great replacement / upgrade to your thermostat. Love the extra room sensors! They help to keep the whole house and especially the room that you are in to the temperature that you want. I also loved the ability to check remotely and update the schedule or just check on how the temperature is in the house. Can't wait to see the savings on the next bill!

I bought this for my new house and installed it with the kit included for systems without the 5th wire... Worked pretty well - it took me an hour to install it from start to finish and after some initial trouble getting it going in the heating mode, the online tools and cell phone app were pretty straight forward. Use it daily and the only thing annoying is the monthly report - its the third week in Feb and Jan's report is still not available. Thats the only place to find usable summary - the daily report is good but it doesn't give you a summary... Other than that no complaints so far

Easy to install, setup, and control. The EcoBee’s independent sensors are an added bonus as the system manages the temperature in the rooms where traffic exists (may want to investigate further if you have pets).

I did have a licensed HVAC technician install the Ecobee, to ensure the C wire connection was utilized correctly, so factor that cost into your overall purchase of this product. The Ecobee 3 was easy to configure and connect to Alexa and offers an intuitive app that allows the user to control settings outside of the home. Additionally, it's an aesthetically pleasing thermostat. We have yet to use the one sensor that came with the Ecobee. Our house is approximately 2,000 square feet and we've had no issues with the Ecobee 3. There are other highly rated competitor products, but the Ecobee 3 was our choice because it allows the user the freedom to control temperature without forcing you to make it "learn" your habits and thus control temperature settings that way.

Installed unit in about one half hour including three sensors. After a month of use, the thermostat operates perfectly and the temperature in the house is very steady. Operation is very intuitive as is the Android app. Very satisfied.

It's doing it's job. I had some issues with the remote sensors, but their tech support were very responsive and were on top of the issue. So far, so good.

This is my second ecobee3, for the 2nd zone heating in my home. First one worked well, so bought a second one. Wiring it up is pretty easy, as long as you have the necessary compatibility and wiring in place. Without, it does make things slightly more complicated, but still feasible for DIY. Of course, if you need an overhaul, then that will require professional work. Easy to understand touchscreen interface on thermostat itself. Easy to use app on mobile phones. Fun analytics on their full website, though it takes a month or so for them to collect enough data to do proper analysis and number crunching.

I like it so far and am considering purchasing additional sensors

I really love my ecobee, and how i'm able to remotely control my temps either on my smart phone, watch, table! It's great! And installing it was extremely simply, it's my first smart home item and it's made me a believer!

This was an easy install and I have already noticed a difference in my gas bill. It is also very convenient to be able to make adjustments when I am not home giving me the ability to have a flexible home/away schedule.

I did a lot of research before buying this thermostat. The main things that drew me to the ecobee over the nest were the fact that it displays current temperature, not just what you set the temperature to, adjustable screen brightness, and that it works for multiple rooms. The problem that I had in my house was that the downstairs would be a decent temperature, but upstairs would be unbearable so I was constantly having to adjust the thermostat depending on where I was. Since buying this product I have not adjusted the temperature once. It has been perfect. Just a side tip, if you aren't replacing a different smart thermostat, the installation is not nearly as easy as they make it out to be. I got a professional to install it and regret nothing.

This is my 2nd Ecobee 3. The 1st was installed in my upstairs (2 BR) in the hall, replacing the old thermostat. The problem was that the temp in the hall was not the temp in the rooms (heat rises). I was always fiddling with the settings to get it comfortable. The Ecobee 3 sensor now sees me in the room, and the temp, and adjusts to the comfortable temp. When I am not in the room, the Ecobee 3 goes into "away" mode saving me money. The Ecobee web site tells me I saved over $300 since being installed (a year) - enough to pay for itself. This new unit is downstairs with sensors in the rooms where we are. After a month, the comfort in rooms we are in is much more uniform and comfortable. Easy installation, great support (if needed). Highly recommended.
