This Ecobee is incredible! Easy to use at the unit and even easier from the phone app. I like the way it changes when you ealk by to see room temp and what the system is set for. We have a very old air handler without a circuit board and it still installed with no issues. Love the remote sensors as well, although I wish they also measured humidity. Very very happy overall, and would highly recommend this for anyone in the market.

I was on the fence between this and the 3rd Gen Nest. Being able to monitor temp in other rooms made this a must have...I want the HOUSE to be around 70 degrees, not just the hallway!

This unit is absolutely fantastic. The installation was super easy! A very well-designed app guides you through the install process. You open up your old thermostat, tell the app what cables you see, and it tells you what to do. I had it done in 30 minutes. The only negative is that the display is not as high-quality as I would've liked, and that extra remote sensors cost a fortune relative to the price of the product.

I love my Ecobee Thermostat. I initially bought one for the downstairs unit, but noticed there seemed to be much less variation in temperatures in the rooms downstairs after installing the Ecobee Thermostat and room sensors so I bought this one for the upstairs to keep the house more evened out. I am still waiting to see if it actually saves us any money over the next few months, but I love having the Ecobee so far.

Purchased the ecobee3 based on its ability to utilize multiple sensors. We have 2 rooms in our house that are always colder/warmer than other rooms. The house is much more comfortable, and I wished I purchased earlier. Also nice to have control of the thermostat when away from the house. Our local utility company also had a $100 rebate for smart thermostats which made the ecobee an even better purchase.

I switched to this from the Nest thermostat, and so far I'm liking it a lot better. It has some rough edges, which I hope will be ironed out soon, and HomeKit support is still a bit early (but nice!).

Before buying the Ecobee 3, I owned a Nest Thermostat. The Nest was nice but it was lacking some of the features that I was looking for. I started searching online for other thermostats when I came across the Ecobee 3. The Ecobee 3 has an extremely easy setup process and a great customer service team. I ran into a few issues while setting it up because I have an older house but when I called their customer service team, they were able to walk me through the entire process! What do I like about the Ecobee 3 that the Nest was lacking? I really like that I can pull up a weekly weather forecast right from the device. Something that the Nest cannot do. I also like the additional room sensor that came with the device. This is nice because the sensors not only notify the thermostat that I am in another room but they also give me a temperature reading of the room where the sensor is placed. The sensors allow the thermostat to adjust its settings in order to better heat and cool my house. The issue that I ran into with the Nest is that it would set itself to away mode if I did not occasionally walk by the thermostat since it does not have additional sensors. Setup of the sensors was a piece of cake. Once the battery was inserted into the sensor, the Ecobee 3 automatically synced and asked me what room I was going to place the device in. Seriously, that can not get any easier! Overall, I am very impressed with the product and would definitely recommend this to anybody looking to upgrade their thermostat.

I like the room sensors because they average the temperatures in the occupied rooms in order to determine the home temperature. Helps with cold spots in older homes.

Installed the Ecobee3 with additional sensors in the bedrooms and other floors of the house when I recently purchased a new (for me) home. I also updated the furnace to a 2 stage variable speed model. Since then, I have also gone on a 2 week vacation, and utilized the vacation mode as well as the daily scheduling. The Ecobee3 is excellent. It senses which rooms I am in and only uses them in calculating which rooms to heat - i.e., if I am not downstairs, which is colder, it only uses the rooms I am in upstairs to average the temperature for the sensors. It also uses the outside temperature (which it gets off the internet for my region) to calculate the time it will take to heat the rooms I am in, so that when I wake in the morning, the temperature is exactly right, and not just kicking in at the time I set for "home" and not "sleep". If I leave the house during the weekend, which is set as a "home" time, it recognizes that I have left and will start to lower the home temperature, too. While on vacation, I was able to adjust the temperatures, as needed - my flights home were delayed for hours and I was able to adjust the length of the vacation mode for cost savings (which, admittedly was only a few $$, but it all adds up). It also recognizes and controls the 2 stage furnace, which is a bonus, and will use the first stage preferentially, but kick in the 2nd stage when the outside temperature demands it. Excellent product.

It works well. Was surprised it didn't come with a user a manual and the only way of getting one is printing it from online site. Has a great deal more bells and whistles than I needed---would have preferred a more simplistic model.

What a cool thermostat. I did quite a bit of research and decided on the ecobee3 over the other one. The support team sent me a detailed diagram and installation instructions for my specific furnace and wiring. Very easy to install and setup. I especially like the included remote sensor that I put in my upstairs TV room. And I love that it works with my Amazon Echo. "Alexa, set my ecobee to 68 degrees."

I'll admit, I don't use this thermostat to its full potential and I had to pay someone $150 to come install it for me, so that's the reasoning I'm giving it a lower rating. The instructions seemed easy enough, but because we have a heat pump from the mid '80's, it was impossible for me to do. Paid a company to come out to install it and the tech said it was one of the more difficult installations to do. The main reason I bought this was because I like the ability to turn my AC/Heater on before I come home through Ecobees App. Their App is easy to use and I like the touch screen. I thought by having the ability to turn on my unit before I came home that it would save me money, but after having it for a little bit now, our bill hasn't changed. Total spent on this project, $450. Not sure if it's worth the price.

Perfect thermostat with easy self diagnosing install. Provides remote monitoring and control of your home's environment. "Auto Away" and "Follow Me" features ensure comfort, and opportunity for energy dollar savings. "Home IQ" offers a useful timeline graphical view of thermostat setting and actual inside and outside temperatures. This thermostat is HomeKit enabled, however, there is little information on how to effectively use this feature. Ecobee's implementation of geofencing is not well thought out or tested.

My living space has wide variations in temperature, a single measuring point (the former thermostat) resulted in too much heat in one area, too little in another. The Ecobee solved that problem via an included extra wireless temperature probe and its internal technology. Installation instructions were straightforward and will work well for someone who can work with a screwdriver and wires.
