Must have a power line for it to work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you read the description it doesn't tell you that you have to have a power line or at least a newer furnace that has a place for that line. Mine did not have that so it did not work for me.

Could be better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed with this product. I returned it for the Nest and I am very happy I did. I didn't like the touch screen controls and the screen quality wasn't great. It isn't bad but I prefer the Nest product.

Best "smart" thermostat on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reasons why I like the ecobee3 over the Nest and the Lyric: Ease of use, ability to customize to almost any degree, and remote sensors. Out of the box (which has everything you need to get set up) the "Bee" is ready to roll. Other than having to fix a wiring issue left by an old installer on our old mercury switch thermostat, I was done and cleaned up in 30 minutes. Looks-wise, the display is very intuitive and responds quickly to touch. It's very similar to the Android operating system, which is great because my wife fears learning new technology and this looks like what she already uses. The learning curve is short and painless. I like it because I can customize beyond just setting a timer program, and I'm limited only by my imagination and the capabilities of my HVAC system. In it's most basic use, the Ecobee3 is a very expensive programmable thermostat. Once you "pop the hood" so to speak, you can take advantage of other programs beyond simply ON/OFF based on the time of day. Here's the game changer: The remote sensors. The Nest and Lyric want to learn your schedule. Our schedule changes every day, so having a sensor that determines occupancy is more what we need. The sensors themselves are tiny enough to stash on a shelf, wall, or doorway. Add enough of them to the rooms you care about and you can "blend" the temps in however many you choose and the system will maintain an average temp in those rooms. Again, all of this is customizable to the nth degree. Add in the remote capability, and I can do anything I want to the system with my phone, tablet, or laptop from anywhere in the world as long as I have a cell signal. All of this is built right in, no modules to add on, no subscriptions to maintain. Ecobee has a fantastic website community where people share programming tips and tricks, and customer service is right there if you need them. They're the new kids on the block, but they've got a nice product to compete with the big dogs. Buy with confidence. I did. No regrets.

Great in theory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. But wait until you have problems. I often can't connect to it. Right now it's not even registering my system. I'm on hold with customer representatives for 1h and 58 min so I decided I should write reviews about it while I wait.

Not As Smart As Expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Working on integrating it with HomeKit and haven't been super impressed. Better function through the app, which had I known that I probably would have bought a different product and left the HomeKit integration out of it.

Ecobee3 Buzzing its way to the top!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No thermostat has ever looked so good mounted on the wall until ecobee3. By far the best smart thermostat to date. Simple installation, great customer service and easy to navigate. One of the best features is the remote sensors. By placing these sensors in different rooms total comfort is achieved. no more cold pockets in the home due to temperature readings throughout the house not just the living room. Been using this thermostat for 8 months now and its results have been very noticeable in both the warm and cold weathered months. Highly Highly recommend you will not be disappointed.

Bought a Nest to replace it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ecobee wa ok. I never felt like it really saved in energy costs...it actually seemed like it caused my system to run more. I bought a Nest to replace it and I love the Nest.

Easy Setup/Easy to Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to install this thermostat in about 45 minutes. Complicated slightly by the fact that I don't have 24v power at the thermostat but they supply an adapter with the kit to get this to work. I really like the remote sensors which detect areas of the house that are being used (or not used). Of course it can't send heating or cooling to just those areas, but it uses them to judge a better overall house temperature. One of the remote sensors did not work right but their customer service was great and they replaced it without any question. Their iPhone app looks exactly like the thermostat itself, so if you know how to use one, using the other is identical. Very nice user interface.

Amazing Smart Thermostat | Great Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overview: The Ecobee3 with Homekit is ahead of the curve in the market. Not only does it integrate learning functions, it also has remote sensors and can integrate with IFTTT for geo-fence settings. Price: The price is not bad at all; in fact, it is less than the competitors when you add all of the features separately. Look and feel: It is a touch based system and even has ambient screen, so it doesn’t stick out when not in use. It has nice user interface to navigate to plenty of features and settings. It’s essentially like an iPhone 4 size screen. Installation: The Installation was easy. Make sure you know your existing system wiring details. It comes with convenient stickers to label before you disconnect your current thermostat. After you power it up for first time you will go through series of question to configure your HVAC system. Overall setup takes 5 minutes.. Functionality: It has so many features including the remote sensors which have temperature and occupancy detection. These help monitor other rooms/areas for temperature and occupancy manage the system for follow-me feature. It has remote connectivity so you can monitor/control from anywhere using your phone or computer. It has a lot of reports to analyze your HVAC system for performance, usage or even compare with others. It also has the ability to integrate with IFTTT so you can text or use geo-location to control your AC system. Final verdict: I Love it! I feel like it was a good investment. It was money well spent for the features I am getting from it.

Buy Buy Hockey Puck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a Nest for 2 weeks and hated it. Replaced Nest with the ecobee and couldn't be happier! 10x sexier then the nest. The remote sensors are what sold me on the upgrade. My wife loves how easy it is to use(which by far is the most important feature) And plus it's homekit enabled! Was super easy to install (this is coming from a complete novice of installing these things). You can't go wrong with this thing!

Excellent Smart Thermostat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ecobee3 has been one the best products we have purchased. For our family and lifestyle, a learning thermostat like the Nest just doen't work with our schedule. However, the Ecobee3 smart Away/Home feature is great at saving energy if we are going to be unexpectedly out of the house. Couple that with remote sensors and the follow me feature, our house stays so much more comfortable. Installation was easy, and the Ecobee3 just looks really nice on the wall. We are more than pleased.

Ecobee 3
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return to the store because I could not figure out how to remove the old thermostat. Now there is an Ecobee 4. But I liked the ability to adjust on my phone.

Not crazy about this thermostat.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me it didn’t work with my HVAC. It required me to have a power wire installed. However the nest thermostat didn’t. I returned the thermostat due to that fact.

Not worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find it works properly about 80% of the time and when you use alexa and ask her to set the thermostat to 74 she will heat it from 70 to 74. Very disappointed

Product MAY require too much installation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1st: The sales person at Best Buy knew nothing about this product. He sold me remote sensors which I didn't need as one did come with the product, so that's left a sour taste in my mouth. I could have gotten Honeywell or other products and done a 'plug and play' which Ecobee tends to state, but the fact is that it requires an additional wire, which some systems don't have. Working in the attic for 2 hours, and sending photos back and forth, and I still don't have a working thermostat. I'm guessing that I will get this operating, but I've got 9 hours invested in this already and to no avail. I'm going to continue to work with customer support to see if we can rectify the situation. I'm afraid that I'll have to order another PEK (Extender Kit) and that will continue to delay my air conditioning, and it's 97 here, wonderful. OK< that's all, my result is that check which wiring you have and you should use this if you have the wires already there, but if you don't, then choose another product. Also, Best Buy needs to train their sales people on this product. Cheers
