Easiest installation ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was our third attempt at a smart thermostat. In our old home we had a nest (so smart, but when our schedule changed it took too long to re-adapt). When we moved we said we wanted a simpler smart thermostat, (oxymoron, I know,) so I purchased a honeywell WiFi thermostat mainly for price; installation was literally a nightmare. We have the alternate wiring scenario and when it said go to the furnace, move the wires and add another to make a bridge, I was out. So I started researching (alot) and I found ecobee. We loved the fact that it had an extra sensor. In our old home, we struggled with keeping our new infants room warm enough because the thermostat would only monitor the main floor. Our new home is a 2 story again, and we knew this would be a struggle all over again. Not anymore! The extra sensor monitors her room and if it's too cold the furnace kicks in to keep her warm. Huge win! Later on when we finish the basement we could add another sensor and put one downstairs too. Another feature of the sensor is that it monitors movement so if no one's been by in a while it will register the room as unoccupied. So you not paying to keep a basement extra warm if no one is down stairs. Also, installation was beyond simple. Ecobee gives you an adapter for furnaces with alternative wiring. What's even better is that their app walks you through every step of the installation. Even helping you take pictures along the way just in case you needed to remember the original wiring. I took 4 wires from my furnace, plugged them into the adapter and plugged five wires from the adapter back into the furnace. I had it installed in 15 minutes and love all its features. Scheduling is a breeze, and we've already used vacation mode, which worked perfectly! As a plus for smart home people like us, it's compatible with your Alexa devices, (tap, echo, etc) so you can control it by voice without ever touching the panel. Overall, this was a major win and we really love it.

Excellent Product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn between this and the Nest, but decided for Ecobee, because it has room sensors (up to 32). This is important because our wiring is such that the thermostat is located in the dining room. The Nest determines occupancy of the home based on people walking past the thermostat, which is not as likely if the thermostat is in the dining room. The Ecobee's room sensors (I purchased two additional sensors) detect occupancy and temperature in the living room, the bedroom, and the second bedroom, as well as the dining room. It also works great with our humidifier and is equally easy to install as the Nest.

Best thermostat available
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I am a NEST fan.. this one is simply better for me. The remote sensors make the thermostat more effective in maintaining temperature in the individual bedrooms. The Apple HomeKit is also a useful feature for those who utilize iOS devices. I bought 3! I am now an Ecobee3 fan!

Excellent product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ecobee works amazing. I debated whether to get the Ecobee or the Nest thermostat and I'm really happy that I chose the Ecobee. Our house suffers from uneven cooling, so some areas are too hot or too cold depending on how we set the temperature. The remote sensors from Ecobee solved that issue because it uses the rooms that are occupied to determine how to set the temperature. You can even determine which sensors to ignore or listen to, depending on the mode you are in. So if you have one bedroom that gets too hot or too cold at night, you can make that the active sensor. Great product!

Good smart thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has worked as advertised. I connected an extra thermostat wire as a C wire. It doesn't fit the hole in the wall very well but with the extra plate it works. Eventually I will have to fill it in a bit to use the smaller mount because I don't like the way it looks with the bigger plate. The install went as the instructions said except a wire broke off in one of the slots and it was a major pain to get it out. The remote sensor works and is useful to view but since it's in a bedroom it's listed as unoccupied most of the time and the ecobee lets it get to cold. I need to spend more time looking over the options. I really wish the remote sensor did humidity too but it doesn't. Overall I am happy. It's only lost wifi connection 1 time and the actual configuration was quick and easy. I don't change the temperature from my phone as often as I thought I would but it's nice to have and it's never failed to connect.

Perfect First Step Towards a Smart Home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is simply awesome. I love my Ecobee
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thermostat is actually a humidistat as well replacing and solving my heat issue. In my home my fireplace was located in the same room as my wired digital thermostat. In addition I had issues with my furnace mounted aprilare digital humidistat measuring outside temps wrong and not turning on the water to humidify the house. By replacing with a Ecobee in the family room and then adding 2 additional sensors I was able to balance the house temperature even if my family from fireplace was running, the rest of the house no longer is cold. In addition I was able to simplify the wiring to my furnace since Ecobee can directly control aprilare 700 with just two wires. Ecobee gets outside temps directly from Internet data on my area, and can sense current humidity. Great product with good apps, you can even observe if a room full of s occupied by navigation no to the sensor menu on the iOS or android app.

Sensors are great, app could be better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ecobee's sensors are the real differentiator between it and the Nest, and that was why we picked it. Overall, we are very happy with the ecobee and its programming and sensing capabilities--it works flawlessly and programming is pretty straightforward. We only wish it came with more than one sensor in the package (we eventually bought two more because temperature varies a lot in our unit), and that it had more powerful analysis and learning capabilities like the nest. But the upside is that you feel like you have control over the temperature and that it is able to manage your heating/cooling well, which we read is a bit trickier with the nest. Also, the Ecobee webapp seems not fully built out, as if they didn't put a lot of effort into its features (such as HomeIQ). They do seem to be actively making improvements, but I wish they were developing things faster. Overall we are happy with the Ecobee3.

Offers Great Control Of HVAC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Ecobee after a lot of research comparing it to Nest. What finally swayed me was the amount of control the temperature sensors offer for customers. I have a 2 story house with an upstairs that is consistently warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. I like that I can program it to use the bedroom sensor at nice to cater the temperature according to that room at night. Installation was also straightforward with detail videos taking you step by step through the installation and setup. I highly recommend this thermostat.

Great smart thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the ecobee3 for a few months now, and so far it's been a sound success. Installation was fairly simple, just matching the wiring up based on how it was connected to the old thermostat. The trickiest part was figuring out the O/B reversing valve setting for the heater, when it started blowing hot air I switched it and all was right with the world. The sensors are a nice touch, though I don't use the motion sensor feature in my setup. A room tends to stay "occupied" for quite a while after it's been vacated, and for my two story house it caused the AC to work harder to keep things cold up there for an hour or so after I'd relocated. Mostly I use the scheduling, which is very well implemented, and the remote access functions. I like being able to turn on the AC on my way home if I'm arriving early - or set it to away if I'm going to be gone for a while. The only complaints I've run into so far I consider to be relatively minor. Firstly, there was an extended period of time where my remote sensor, placed upstairs, would lose connection to the ecobee. The linear distance is not far, but it's a common problem to have with wireless. The only reason it bothered me was I'd get an email alert when the connection was lost and another when it was restored, leading to a lot of junk messages. Lately, it has not had any connection problems. Secondly, one of the most noteworthy features of this thermostat is the Siri and Amazon Echo integration. While both work pretty well, there is a side effect that irks me. When you use the app or the thermostat's screen to adjust the temperature, you can specify in the settings if this should last indefinitely or until the next scheduled change occurs. I find the latter very helpful, so if I'm home and I lower the temperature and forget about it, it will get reset when Sleep or Away modes are scheduled to begin. When using Siri or Echo, the temperature setting is always indefinite. Your schedule does not exist until you release the stranglehold these devices have placed on your thermostat. Perhaps there's a setting to alleviate this, but I haven't found it yet. Either way, I find it more than sufficiently convenient to use their app to adjust the temperature and that negates the problem entirely. Minor annoyances, but they should really be addressed if you're going to drop $200 on a thermostat.

Great thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this thermostat because we wanted to keep the baby room upstairs at a good temperature. This can be hard to do when you have the thermostat on the first floor only. Ecobee lets you set the remote sensor as the main temperature reading so the furnace will run until that room reaches the temp you want. The mobile app can be a little cumbersome but overall it is a good thermostat. But if you don't care about the additional sensors, I also had a Honeywell wifi thermostat that cost about $99 and worked fine- so I would choose that one.

Fantastic Thermostat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can setup very complex scheduling if needed. One of us works days and one nights, so a simple work/home/sleep schedule doesn't work for us. I have about 9 schedule changes through the day, including a very low setting for 30 minutes every 6 hours, which essentially turns it off for 2 hours a day, saving energy. The thermostat learns how long it takes to cool or heat rooms and will override the schedules early if needed to make sure it can get the temperature to the requested level at the time of the next schedule change. This function works very well, but can be disabled if needed. The Web site graphs day to day details, so you can really dig into ways you might improve your schedules if you wish to. The ability to use additional room sensors and have the thermostat read the temperature of more than the hallways it's mounted in is really the big selling factor for me, and I wouldn't buy any other thermostat because of it. It averages the temperature of the different sensors and uses that as the house temperature. The sensors have motion detectors and you can enable follow me mode, which tells it to ignore any sensors that have not picked up any motion in a while and only read the temperature of the rooms that are occupied. This is a fantastic feature, so that it doesn't care what temperature the bedroom that no one has been in for 6 hours is. You can also set it to switch to temporary home mode if it detects motion while set to away, or temporary away if it doesn't detect any motion while at to home. I only used this feature briefly (and it worked decently) because I use a smart things hub to manage home and away settings. Installation was also relatively easy, even without a C wire. I was confused briefly because we seem to have an old heat exchange fan that is disconnected and those extra wires created a little difficulty. But ignoring that, it was an easy installation, just a little time consuming having to add in the power extender at the furnace. I would highly recommend this thermostat, and if you buy it, even more highly recommend getting at least one extra set of sensors to take full advantage of the unique features this thermostat offers in reading temperatures throughout the house.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Researched before purchase and after talking to their customer service to have some questions answered I purchased the product. I installed it myself, following the detailed online instructions. I called their tech line to have one question answered and got the information I need in setting up for my heat pump. Have been using it for 3 weeks and love the wifi connectivity. I have 4 zones set up and it is keeping them a more uniform temperature. Very satisfied with product and customer service.
