I had used the nest for almost a year and was just not happy with the balance of the temperature in the house. I decided to give the ecobee3 a test run and have not looked back. I have 4 sensors around the house and this is key to comfort as before the bedrooms at the end of the house were always 4-6 degrees cooler then the rest of the house. I would strongly urge anyone looking for a Wifi Thermostat to go with the ecobee3.

I love this thermostat. Being able to remotely control the temperature from my bed or from across the world is simply amazing. I love the home kit compatibility. Asking Siri what the temp is or asking her to change it from your iOS or Apple Watch is so easy. What really sets it apart are the sensors that you can place around your house to get a more average temp so if like me, your thermostat is down a hallway, the remote sensors help balance out your house. You won't be disappointed with this thermostat.

I love my Ecobee3. I was on the fence between the Nest and this, but the capability of the remote sensor sold me on Ecobee3. I have always had issues with the temperature being ~4-5 deg warmer in my loft. After installation, the temperature fluctuation is only ~1 deg if any the very next day. I do prefer the Nest's interface, but if you have heating/cooling inconsistencies it works wonders. Plus I love the motion sensor integration in the remote sensors as it plays nice with SmartThings and Alexa for warnings.

I upgraded from a Nest about a month ago to the Ecobee3. I think the Ecobee offers more information about usage and definitely more history. The Nest only goes back 10 days where the Ecobee has the last 15 months. I also think there are more settings and features that I can modify and control over Nest. My favorite feature is by far the remote sensors, not only do they provide the temperature in that room or area but can be used to tell the Ecobee if anyone is using that room and if the temperature should be adjusted.

I tried Nest first, but then saw this and decided to give it a try, needless to say I returned the Nest. The remote sensors are fantastic, after seeing the energy usage reports that this provides, the Nest reports look like a joke.

My wife and I had been looking at installing a smart thermostat for about a year and had been reading countless reviews. One of our challenges is that we had some cold rooms in winter and warm rooms in summer. Our single zone (single thermostat) Trane two-stage heat pump (Air to air ) with electric auxiliary heat was working its best but just could not even out the temp in the house. Then I read a review about the Ecobee3 and its support for remote sensors that help resolve the very issue we were faced with. Not only will the reviews from the consumers positive but I found lots of professional contractor videos explaining why the Ecobee3 smart thermostat far surpassed its competitors. My first call was to technical support prior to purchasing. I sent them a picture of my existing thermostat and spoke with a representative who is both knowledgeable and informative. I was sent an email that that laid out where the old wires should go into the new Ecobee wiring. My positive experience with their technical support team was one of the reasons I made my decision to purchase. If you have never wired a thermostat before, especially one for a heat pump system can be a very nerve-racking experience because if you don't do it right you could really hurt your heat pump. The day I received my unit I noticed that there was a wire (Y2) that was not mentioned in the email and immediately called tech-support to validate where it should go. They apologized that it was missed in my initial email and went over all the wires again with me. With that help I was able to complete the wiring and my Ecobee3 was up and running in a matter of minutes. Since the install the comfort of my home has been easy to maintain and the data provided by the ecobee dashboard website is allowing me to fine-tune the heat and cooling cycles like I've never been able to do before. I highly recommend this product and this company.

I have had the ecobee3 for over a month and I love it. If you have ever installed a thermostat it's very easy to install, and fairly straight forward if you haven't. I have three smart probes and they work very well on averaging out the temperature in the house so my office, the hottest room in the house, doesn't get too hot. I have also integrated my ecobee3 with Wink so I can configure temperature monitoring of my office where if the temp gets to high it will force the A/C on so it cools down.

We purchased our ecobee3 back in January 2016, as part of our local energy company's rebate program. We were finally fed up with an older digital thermostat that failed to recognize button presses and this made it very frustrating to change temps quickly or see the display in the dark. The ecobee3 has really turned things around! We love the analytics it provides, to monitor energy consumption. We no longer play rock, paper, scissors to determine who will go adjust the temp, while in bed - we can just do it from our phones now! And I love that I can change the settings and schedule, should we be away from the house. One thing I didn't expect before purchasing this device was the overwhelming support and passion from the folks behind the ecobee3! The community is very helpful and if we ever run into a problem, we see others are eager to help. This is always a great sign when purchasing electronics! We highly recommend this company and its products!

Love this thermostat! You set it, and for get it. It also lets you control your homes comfort from anywhere via their mobile app. The external remote sensors you can place in any room of your house allow you to maximize comfort in each room. Can't say enough about the cost savings I have seen in even less than a year of usage. I recommend this to anyone seeking a new thermostat!

This is good thermostat. I had Nest 2nd Generation when I purchased this one, Apple Representative told me that this thermostat much better than Nest, that I had at that time. I decided to try this, since I was really happy with Nest and since they said this one will be even better. After running Ecobee for 6+-month I realized that temperature sensors not that accurate, I barely use remote sensor as well. Overall product quality - Hardware is few steps behind than Nest. I decided to go back to nest 2nd gen and sell ecobee. Again, If you really like it, buy it, you won't be disappointed, but for me Nest is better quality and design overall.

I have had my Ecobee for about 9 months now. It has been absolutely flawless thus far. Installation was very easy especially for someone that had no experience at all with installing a thermostat. I didn't have the C-wire, but the kit worked perfectly. The smart home/away feature is one of my biggest likes about the product. Really helps save on energy and money by knowing if you are away at a time when you have programmed the thermostat to say you were home .

You wont be sorry with your purchase. Great product by a great company. I am so proud to be an owner and have told others personally that they should get one of these if they can fit it in their budget.

Works as advertised. With additional website connectivity like ifttt it goes above and beyond expectations. Saved me when my furnace failed and I was emailed regarding this 'fail to heat' issue.

I recently purchased the Ecobee3 Homekit edition and I can definitely recommend this product for anyone looking to upgrade to smart thermostat. I stumbled across this product while doing my research for the Nest and I'm glad I did. One of the main reason why I bought this thermostat was the remote sensors, this allows me to ensure that the coldest room in the house (and I know everyone has one in their home) has a comfortable temperature. I love the 'Follow me' feature as the sensors can determine occupancy and relay that information back to the thermostat to average the temperature in the house. With respect to installation, it is a breeze! I'm not handy by all means but this definitely can be a DIY task. I followed both the installation guide and the videos, extremely simple. I installed both the thermostat and the power extender kit all in under 30 mins. THe longest time spent was to backfill and paint the area (large hole) which my old thermostate left behind. All in all this is a very well designed and thoughtful product. In addition to the company's support, there's also a huge growing online ecobee communities where you can get collaborate and get tips. If you're looking to upgrade this product would not disappoint. :)

This is a great product that has so many features. The options are very easy to use especially, linking it with the your phone. I don't have to worry about it when I'm away or at home because the sensors can detect everything. It's definitely a smart device. I chose this over the nest because they have the knowledge and name behind its product. I believe the nest it more name based than what it can offer. But that's just my opinion.

I could of went with the Nest but when I read about the sensors with ecobee i decided to give it a try. Now my bedroom stays just as cool as the living room where the thermostat is it.

Straight forward setup, I had to change wires at my furnace controller but instructions were clear. A little different to setup schedule than older programmable. Think this is going to pay for itself after a year. A/C not running as often as with previous. Like that you can see outside weather on device as you walk by. Also love that I can turn off A/C from smart phone if I forget to set vacation mode before I leave the house.

I have had the Ecobee3 since November (2 full months now) and I have only good things to say. I love being able to control setpoints remotely and have it automatically go into "away" mode. We also have a child who sleeps on the 2nd floor and the remote sensor is in his room, we actually have the thermostat only use the temp in his room at night and revert back to the main downstairs unit during the day. So awesome!

I have to say what makes this product is the "Follow Me" feature. I have a master bedroom that is always hotter then the other rooms in the summer and colder then the other rooms in the winter. Mainly because it's the room with three exterior walls and not typically two. With the extra sensors networked in, it adjusts perfectly to our needs. Like the box says, for a home with more than one room. It just works better.
