I had a second generation Nest, but was tired of the lack of iOS integration, and the imprisonment of my data. With ecobee3 I now have better integrations with my stuff, and access to way, way more data. So far I'm loving this device. I will admit that with all the extra features, it could be more complicated to setup and use, but the out of the box settings are fine for most people and that part is super easy. Only downside is adding the c-wire adapter. This seemed like a scary task at first, but it was extremely easy to install. Also, the c-wire adapter means that this thermostat will not play tricks on your HVAC unit to keep it charged up (like Nest) and the ecobee will not run out of batteries when you are not home (like Nest).

Very easy to install, Takes a while but following given instructions it should be a breeze. it is fun to use with home automation solutions like Echo which is missing in most of smart thermostats on the market.

I really like this product. For the longest time, I had 2 programmable thermostats. However, I was always frustrated as the schedules of both me and my wife were constantly changing. There were many days where we would not be home until late at night. I could just feel the money leaving my wallet while are HVAC system ran with noone home. At the same time, when we were home during unschedules times, my wife and I would change the thermostat setting to a more comfortable temperature and then forget to change it back to the schedule. The ecobee has solved both of these issues. In addition, with the analytics of the ecobee, I can see ways to improve the performance and usage of the HVAC. My only negative is that with the ecobee requiring power from the HVAC system, it becomes a little harder to install if you do not already have a C wire. I think this is better design than a battery in the thermostat, but it made self-installation a bit harder.

Great Product. Easy to install and operate with great customer service if you need help. PEK is great if you do not have the C wire. Love the access to control from anywhere. Would recommend this product.

I have been a happy ecobee customer for over a year. The advantage over the NEST is their use of sensors, which you can put all over your home, and are used to adjust temperature based on motion detection. This is particularly important for me, as I live in a home with multiple stories, and require the temperate to be adjusted accordingly based on the area of the home that is active. One other feature I love is the ability to run the fan for X min/hour, which allow me to recirculate the cool air from the basement to the higher floors during the summer months. This save me electricity!! The iOS app and online management app are amazing! I've highly recommended this to all my friends and family.

I love this new thermostat! It is so easy to use. I love the fact that you are able to control it from your phone anywhere in your home. This is especially helpful when you have more than one floor.

I love this thermostat. It has very intelligent scheduling, like defined 'comfort settings' rather than setting temperatures each scheduled point. As far as I can tell the customizability of scheduling is limitless, so you don't have to fit into 4 different time slots. The interfaces is extremely polished and I love that it has weather right on the screen. Integration with things like IFTTT and echo are really exciting possibilities. Previously I had a wifi thermostat from radiothermostat - which was fine. But this smart thermostat is soo much smart. There is a reason this is everyones favorite thermostat. I replaced a working wifi + app thermostat and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

After having a Nest for a few years, once they moved away from the Apple ecosystem, I started scouting other thermostats. Ecobee had recently upgraded their ecobee3 to work with HomeKit, so I did some homework. Not only did the ecobee respond to Siri commands, it was far more configurable to HVAC systems than the Nest had been. The Nest thought I had more stages in both hearing game and cooling than my system did, and kept trying to activate them. The ecobee asked those questions during installation and has performed flawlessly ever since. The remote sensors are a godsend, allowing my home to feel much more comfortable, both in summer and winter. Highly recommend!

I have three ecobee3's now implemented in my house. Two of them are attached to a single stage, multizone furnace with AC, and the third runs a set of baseboard heaters in my basement. The ability to work in a multizone setup, manage fans as well as dehumidifiers and baseboard electrical heaters really sets this apart from the competition. I love the user interface and the Tablet app which connects to data reports on energy usage. You also have the ability to expand into smart vent controls that are just coming onto the market. Cannot recommend these units highly enough, but of course do research and make sure your heating system can accommodate.

I bought this in december and was waiting to review to see the savings. I not only got a 100$ from Enbridge but also am saving in gas and electric each month. It has been 3 months now and have saved about half the money i paid for it. The best feature is the way it senses automatically that no one is home. Normally we would set the thermostat for 70F during the day and 65 at night while sleeping. Well now if we are not all home it will turn the temp down to 65 and as soon as someone comes home it cranks the heat back and we are good within 20 mins. The follow me function is also great and has made the comfort within the house much nicer.

Perfect for the home. Good product. Easy setup especially with the converter kit. Awesome product. Smooth running app and interface. Chose over nest because wanted more control.

I bought this after looking at all the other smart thermostat options and asking friends and co-workers that have some as well. I really liked the sensor option as in my house I will have rooms that are icy cold and others that are hot and so this helps me work on a balance for the house. So far I have noticed that my house is staying at a more standard temperature through out the day and my A/C seems to be running a lot less to accomplish that task. I would highly recommend this as an option for anyone who wants to be able to keep tabs on temperatures in individual rooms and the app is easy to use and understand.

I love the ecobee3. The design is pretty slick and using it is really. The only big issue I have is wireless connection. I have strong signal pretty much around the house and even when measuring the wifi signal strength by the ecobee3, it's showing good signal but the ecobee is showing 57%. Worst again I'll kept looking connection and I'm unable to control the ecobee3 remotely.

Very satisfied with my Ecobee. It does a great job of knowing when I'm home, cooling the room I'm currently in, and the web interface/mobile app is easy to use.

I love every feature of this thermostat. The remote sensors made an immediate impact. Integration with Vera works very well. I am glad I ditched my Honeywell for this!

The Ecobee3 is a huge improvement over traditional programmable thermostats, but it still requires work. The ability to view/modify temperatures from anywhere is a magnificent feature...especially if you go on vacation and forget to turn your thermostat down. Setting scenarios is also a breeze so you can maximize energy savings. I love being able to track the system runtime vs the average outdoor temperature to show how efficient my house is and whether my unit is operating optimally. The only real complaints I had is that the sensors take 2 hours to switch the unit into Auto Away mode, and those cannot currently be modified. Also, if you have a home that has more than 1 unit, the monthly data you get is by individual device, not consolidated together in an easy one stop shop. I have contacted Ecobee about potential improvements and they have been very receptive, which is awesome and gives me hope that this product will continue to improve on it's features.

I am still learning about new features but am very happy so far. I love the Fan On for xx mins per hour feature and the remote access to change settings or see what the system is doing at any given time. I saw one person had a problem getting it on line and in my case I found that it did not like the 64 character password length (which was a default I had never changed on my home router). Once I changed that it connected fine and has no problems staying connected. Interestingly my whole home network is working better now that I trimmed down that 64 character password.

Bought my ecobee 3 over 1 year ago and it was an easy to use device from the get go. Everything from setting up scheduling for heating and cooling via the front face touch panel was a breeze. Later I went on the web portal and finished my setup. The Apple iphone app was neat as I could monitor and adjust comfort levels instantaneously. From looking at my electricity and gas bills over time, I've come to realize around ~20% savings using my Ecobee 3. The payback was definitely worth the minute investment in purchase price. looking forward to seeing what Ecobee plans on coming up with next!

This thermostat is great, especially with the remote sensors. This is what sets the Ecobee apart from the competition. Another great feature for the HVAC geeks is the downloadable spreadsheet of all of the history for the Ecobee. Homekit is also great if you are an iPhone user.
