The temps seem accurate and connecting was quick and easy. No connection issues, and no issues with distance from the thermostat. My biggest complaint is its motion sensing. It isn't bad, but isn't good either. I can say there tech support is great.

Great Add-on

Living in a two story home I find the temperature difference between the 1st and 2nd floor to be drastic at times but with the addition of these on the 1st floor and the thermostat is located on the 2nd floor it seems to really follow you and keep your location in the house at a comfortable temperature all the time. I do think these cause my AC to run more than it would without them. I will probably eventually add more to cover every room but I hope to catch them on sale because they are a little pricey and I am not sure if they are worth $80 to me. I bought mine as a package deal and paid $40. If I can get another set for $40 I would probably buy but not at $80. I don't feel that these will save me money so the ROI is not there and this is a little more on the cool gadget side.

A must have for Ecobee owners with a larger house

The main selling point of the ecobee system is its integration of remote sensors in the climate control for the entire house. Having a two story house with only one thermostat is plain crazy and with these sensors the Ecobee system can try to regulate a whole house temperature instead of having the upstairs blazing hot while the downstairs is freezing cold.

Ecobee 3 Sensors

I previously picked up an Ecobee3 wifi thermostat and love it. The thermostat comes with two sensors, one in the thermostat and a remote you can place in any room. I decided I wanted a couple more sensors to put one downstairs and one in mom's bedroom. While the sensors don't create additional zones in your home it does average out the temperature in the rooms you put them in. You can tell your thermostat what sensor(s) you want your furnace or air conditioner to respond to. In my case it is winter here and my downstairs is always freezing during the day. I told my thermostat to use the downstairs sensor temperature to trigger when the furnace comes on. It's working great! No more cold downstairs and surprisingly only a degree or two warmer upstairs. Love it.

Great Add-ons for ecobee Thermostat

One of the great features of the ecobee WiFi thermostat (version 3 in my case) is the ability to add sensors that you can place around your home to get the maximum comfort and maximum energy savings possible. I have a big house with 3 floors and 2 bedrooms are as far away from the furnace/air conditioner hub as you can be so they often are colder or warmer than the rest of the house. With the sensors, the ecobee averages the temperature of all sensors or you can manage the sensors to let some be inactive. Now, without rewiring or adding new ducts or another thermostat, I can let the bedroom sensors control the temperature and ensure that everybody is more comfortable. It's such a great idea.

Replaced a Nest with the Ecobee3. Wanted the remote sensors since the upstairs was always too hot or cold compared to the main level where the thermostat was. Now the upstairs is much better. Love that they are always trying to improve as well. Nest seems to have stalled out.

Needed for full functionality of Ecobee

These sensors work perfectly. The reason I am rating them 4-star is that I believe Ecobee misleads consumers. When you purchase an Ecobee 3 Lite, they tell you sensor are optional and it works fine without them. The issue is, the Ecobee 3 lite does not have a presence sensor in it...so many of the smart away or smart home functions do not work without additional sensors. In order to get full functionality, you need the sensors.

I prefer the Nest over the Ecobee to be honest, but the Ecobee works with Apple's HomeKit. These satellite sensors aren't completely necessary, but they do add to the comfort of my home as they'll "follow" me around paying attention to where I'm at to keep the temp in the room(s) to my liking.
Just a note, when I bought this pair, I received an email after adding them to my Ecobee thermostat account. There was a problem in their assembly which made the motion detection sensor not function properly. It needs the little 1/4 window to be in front of it. It wasn't aligned properly and so they sent out instructions to new owners of the sensors after they buy them. The fix is very simple and takes all of 2 minutes. Just pop open the casing and rotate the plastic front to align like it needs. Now they work great. Had they not emailed me, it would've taken a while for me to notice likely.
Despite the above issue, if you want to improve your comfort around the house, go ahead and pick up a pair of these.

These are often overpriced (IMNSHO), but if you can catch them on sale, these are awesome. Want to ask Alexa what the temperature upstairs is? Or in the basement? Or in your office? Then this is for you.
Want ecobee to see where you are in the house, and adjust the temperature accordingly? Then this is for you.
Want ecobee to only use one particular sensor, to set the temperature, when you go to bed, and ignore the others, regardless of motion? Then this is for you.
Awesome, if you can catch it at a reasonable price.

Sensors are the key to Ecobee

The ability to use these sensors are the key to what make Ecobee an excellent home climate control system. I work from a home office, and have kids that go to school. I can program the system to monitor the temperature of the whole house when everyone is home, then focus on only my office while everyone is gone, which requires a lot less heat to warm up. The Ecobee system is great on its own, with all of its "smart" features and smart home integration, but you really should add on the sensors to get the most out of it.
