Great addition to Ecobee3
|Posted .These are great if you have a larger home. Our home is about 4200 sq ft. I have one in 4 rooms now and with the mobile device I can see where the entire house is. Picture attached. These additional sensors help you get better control of your home and equalize your comfort no matter where you are.

Affordable and excellent product for Ecobee line

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5It seems like the best smart home products were some of the earlier ones. I can't believe how many people fall for the Nest line of products. Ecobee all the way! If it isn't obvious, these remote sensors are used only with Ecobee's smart home thermometer (I have the 3, I installed the 4 for my parents). The sensors are pretty much a no brainer for those that have multilevel homes. Your sensor isn't going to be able to tell the temperature fluctuations between the highest level and your lowest level. That's where these babies come in. The sensors broadcast their temperature and your main unit is able to then get an average reading for your house. I can't tell you how important this is if you have pets that may be gated off upstairs and the worry that it may be too hot up there!

Excellent sensors

Replaced our Nest with Ecobee, never going back.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWe are very happy with our ecobee4 and the sensors. It functions just like the Nest but better with more options such as Alexa, sensor for each room, includes two but I purchased 4 more. The sensors really work. We use the follow me feature and every room that is occupied is the temp we set. Pros: It works, it is fun, and saves on energy costs! Another pro is the sensors! I have sensors all over my house and use them to help get the most accurate average temperature reading of my house. I love the fact that they can detect if a room is unoccupied and therefor will focus on making sure the rooms that are occupied are at the desired temperature. The sensors can also be used as a motion detector. Amazing!!! Cons: the Nests app is more responsive and with little to no delay. The Ecobee app is delayed about 30 sec or more. I’m hoping they can fix that with future updates. Overall it's a fantastic product. If you want to upgrade your thermostat from Basic thermostat or even Nest like we did. I highly recommend this.

A Necessity for larger one unit homes or upstairs
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased the Ecobee 3 - absolutely the best. I was really taken with the additional remote sensor, which actually contains 3 sensors - temperature, humidity, and motion. It allows the thermostat to get a true picture of the climate in your home because, along with the base unit sensors, you have readings from multiple locations. I have 2 units, and I have 2 Ecobee 3s. Upstairs, the temperature is very tricky to manage - or should I say was tricky to manage. I purchased this additional pack of sensors because the bedrooms and bonus rooms have inconsistent temps. Adding 2 additional sensors increases the scope of my averages for the climate, and allows the Ecobee to know when more of the upstairs is occupied or not when determining what the experienced climate is - if I'm in my room and the temp in there is 78, but 75 in the other rooms, the AC pops on to cool me off. If you have a single unit in a larger home, or if you have an upstairs that has aim over the garage room or varying temps, these things will help your Ecobee be even more accurate and efficient in keeping an awesome climate in your home.

Great addition to ecobee3
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI added a pack of sensors to my new ecobee3 to enable occupancy and temp sensing in additional rooms. They have a 15' motion range, so keep that in mind when placing them. They seem to work at a good distance from the ecobee3, but if you have a sprawling ranch with a single zone, you may hit the limits (45' per docs). Note: sensors shipped in Nov and Dec were assembled incorrectly. This impacts the occupancy sensor. The fix is very simple, rotate the faceplate so the sensor lines up with the window. You can tell by looking at the serial number sticker on the back. It should be on the same edge as the window. If not, you need to fix it or call support.

Temp/humidity/occupancy sensors for HomeKit
|Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5These are great for saving energy...I put one in each room of the house. I also use them in HomeKit to trigger automations (turn fan on when I'm in the room, turn it off when I leave). They're a bit slow to turn off, but they turn on within a minute.

Q: QuestionIf a sensor notices that one room is colder than the rest of the rooms the heat will come on the warm up that room but then don't all of the other rooms get too hot?
Asked by Sensors.
- A:Answer According to the ecobee manual, when Follow Me is enabled, if motion is detected in the cold room, the temperature reading from that sensor will be used by the ecobee to decide when to operate your heating or cooling system. If more than one sensor detects motion, the average of these sensors will be used. When Follow Me is disabled, the ecobee will continuously use the average temperature readings from all the sensors that you've selected as the desired temperature to control your thermostat.

Q: QuestionThese are specifically named Ecobee3 Remote Sensors, but I have an Ecobee4. I think these will work with the Ecobee4, but I'm wondering if I need to just be patient and wait for the Ecobee4 sensors to be released. Advice?
Asked by FloridaTechNut.
- A:Answer I have three with a Ecobee4, they register and work with no issues

Q: QuestionI was not around when the sensor was installed. Can you tell me how to get it apart to replace the battery? It has a screw attaching it to the wall but I don't see the screw head.
Asked by Manager.
- A:Answer Just pull on the front gently. It's just a tension clasp holding it in place. The screw goes into just the back plate.

Q: QuestionIs the remote line of site or is it wireless in the truest sense? If you place it in a room away from the main unit does it have to physically be in line of site to get it to function properly?
Asked by botankus.
- A:Answer The remote does not have to have line of site to the main unit. I have one in my basement with the thermostat on the main floor and it works perfectly. The manually mentions RF exposure so most likely that is how it is communication with the sensors, not over wifi. The ecobee itself does have a wifi connection of course for you to be able to access it remotely.

Q: QuestionCan these units be used without the thermostat? I just wanted to connect them to my router to monitor the temperature only. Not to control the temperature.
Asked by RVP.
- A:Answer Depending on how you set up the sensors, yes. As long as you have the "home, away, sleep" setting to one sensor, any unassigned sensors can use used to monitor temps only. E.g. I have multiple sensors in my house, the downstairs sensor is for home and away, the sleep sensor is assigned to one bedroom only, all the other bedroom sensors have no assignment and simply display the temp and are not used to "average" out the temp setting.
