The remote does not have to have line of site to the main unit. I have one in my basement with the thermostat on the main floor and it works perfectly. The manually mentions RF exposure so most likely that is how it is communication with the sensors, not over wifi. The ecobee itself does have a wifi connection of course for you to be able to access it remotely.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is wireless, no need for line of sight. Advertised range is upto 45feet, but if you have too many walls in-between that distance may be affected. You'll get a full screen notification when a sensor is disconnected from the thermostat.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I mounted one in a bedroom with a wall between it and the main thermostat. I mounted one on a completely different floor. Both work perfectly with no issues as long as they are within range of the wi-fi router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My sensors are not in direct line of sight. Once in a while I will get the message that communication was disrupted but it always reconnects.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is not line of site. It works wireless, but it does have a maximum distance that it recommends. I can't remember exactly what that distance is. I have my thermostat installed upstairs at the end of the hall and then have a sensor in each bedroom and they all work. One of the sensors is in a room at the other end of the hall on the far side of the room and works great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it does not need to be in the line of sight of the main thermostat. It runs on a watch-like battery and is wireless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's wireless. Distance is quite good, but is subject to interference and signal blockage (e.g. if you have something in the walls. I've got multiple sensors connected to multiple thermostats. Some are about 20-30 feet away with multiple walls in between. Some many work flawlessly, some "disconnect" at times for a bit (not really a problem).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Does not need to be line of site.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is wireless. You can control it from anywhere in your home or around the world from the iDevices app. easy and amazing! Can't wait for more of their products to come out.
