Please try again later.The ecobee remote sensor (I have several of them) works well doing what it's supposed to do, reporting temperature and room occupancy to the ecobee, which can then report it to other smart home devices and your phone. Air quality sensing is a great idea but isn't designed into this device.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The remote sensor detects motion, occupancy, and temperature. It is unable to detect "harmful chemicals." I doubt that this will be available as an add on for these sensors in the future. As far as home use I'm not sure what harmful chemicals you may be referring to but for smoke and carbon monoxide detection in a smart device that can send alerts as well as other actions: The Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide alarm may be an option for this. Additionally, Samsung has 2 separate units that work with the SmartThings platform that may help as well.
