Just buy it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love this little robot vacuum!!! It’s seriously changed my life. Its so easy to use and makes my house feel tidy with no effort from me. This thing literally leaves lines in the carpet like it’s a baseball field… iconic!! Rating for stars because the mop feature is kind of useless, you can’t use any cleaner so it kind of just wets the floors. But the vacuum and auto empty are amazing!

Best auto vacuum
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This debot keeps my floors clean. It recognizes carpet to hard wood floors. It goes back to charging base when battery is low or it’s through cleaning. I recommend this vacuum

Buy a shark.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this now for about 7 months. I expected better from this type of price. Works ok for pet hair, not nearly as good as the shark. Doesn’t fully empty dust bin, and for my house the battery isn’t near enough. Not a bad u it if you have a smaller home or not a lot to vacuum up.

Still Room for Improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ecovacs Deebot N8+ comes with a lot of features. I replaced a less intelligent Shark robot vacuum which did an ok job but seemed to randomly bump around as it cleaned. The Deebot promised a smarter and more efficient clean, with added features like mapping, area clean and mopping. The Deebot ships in a big box, accommodating a large robot vac and a large charging station/dust empty station. Set up is fairly quick and the quick-start guide covers most (but not all – more on that later) setup functions. They were located under the Deebot top-flap which helped to get up and running without hunting through the included manual. You are strongly recommended to let the Deebot charge up all the way before sending it out. I did not and it sort-of worked but I would suggest waiting for the full charge as it will help with first-time mapping. I have remapped a few times since so it wasn't the end of the world in my case. You can run the vacuum from its onboard button but the best way is to download the app, set up an account and add the Deebot. You can do this with a QR code which is an easy way to register it in the app. You also need to add it to your Wi-Fi network but I found this to be fairly easy and similar to adding any other devices. For the Deebot, it worked first time whereas other devices have been problematic. From this point, you click the Auto button in the app and send the Deebot on its way, focusing on mapping but also giving a quick vacuum as it goes. My Deebot made it around most of the 700 square feet of the 1st floor on its first run but then had to head back to the charging station and charged up for about 3 hours before heading out and quickly finishing off the rest. I have not tried it on my upstairs floor as it is not as heavily used but it is possible to store multiple floor maps. The vacuuming seems to be quite powerful for an autonomous unit. It makes less noise than my Shark but will increase power when it detects carpet. It rarely hits furniture or cabinets as its 360 degree sensor seems to be very aware of surroundings. It seems to have a set speed for vacuuming and a faster speed when it scoots between locations which speeds up travel between non-connected areas to clean. Mapping: The mapping feature is necessary for area or custom cleaning. After the initial map run, you can go into the app and start to separate out areas so they can match the room function. For example, you should be able to name your kitchen, living room, bathroom and then later you can send the Deebot to just a specific area to clean and then return, without having to do the whole map. The map also helps the Deebot to clean more efficiently, in a planned, mowing-the-lawn fashion, as much as possible. The actual mapping is impressive and rendered a floor plan that matched my first floor with just a few artifacts, probably from reflections through a patio door or low cabinet glass door. They don’t affect the Deebot as it goes about its tasks, it just looks a little messy on the map. Once you save your map in the app, you can edit and label areas as well as set virtual boundaries, where you don’t want the Deebot to clean in future. The labeling could be better – for instance, you have to use the preset labels and can’t customize your own. This seems like a bit of a flop. I had to label a couple of my rooms with names we never use so that was disappointing. Similar with the editing of areas, where you can separate areas in separate rooms. The vertical boundary lines seem to work to divide rooms but I struggled with a horizontal one that just would never separate my kitchen from my dining room. They even have a doorway between them but the Deebot would just refuse to separate them. As one is carpet and one is laminate floor and the carpeted dining room doesn’t need to be cleaned to the same extent as the kitchen, I thought this another miss. If you move your charging station, you have to remap from scratch again. The only time this would not be a problem is if you move it between floors and put the station in the same spot each time. Mopping: I tried the mopping feature a couple of times but frankly, I have to say it is very poor and I won’t be using it again. I would describe it as dragging a damp microfiber cloth around the area but that to me is not mopping. You can set the area to be mopped and the amount of wetness left behind but I’m not really sure who would be satisfied with that. To me, mopping is removing footprints, dried up water spots and leaving a shine. This feature just drags a wet cloth around behind it which is not the same. The Deebot detects when it has the detachable mop connected and then goes into mopping mode. It will then avoid carpets and rugs and only wet hard surfaces. This will be a problem if you intend to use the mopping mode and site your charging station on carpet – once you attach the mop, the Deebot will get confused as it won’t cross carpet with the mop on, probably to protect the carpet from a wet cloth on the way back. I watched mine get off the dock and then spin about almost in place, probably trying to clean the dock itself. It then gave up and went back on the dock. It will look a lot less confused if it starts out on a hard surface, which is touched on in the instruction manual but something I overlooked on first glance. The ultrasonic sensors can tell carpet from hard surface and do a good job in keeping the vacuum off carpet as it mops. I noticed my Deebot would stop short of the carpet in the dining room, as it mopped the kitchen floor and then turn about but this means it does not clean right up to the divider line between carpet and hard floor. Still, I was not impressed with the mopping feature and just won’t bother with it any more. Maintenance: The app does a good job of reminding you when you need to do some basic maintenance on the Deebot. It will direct you to clean the dust box and filter on a regular basis as well as keeping track of the life of the parts such as the rotating brushes, to give you plenty of time to order more. The dust collection station seems to work well and periodically, the Deebot will announce it is going to transfer dust from on board to the dust bag in the station and it sounds like a powerful vacuum sucks it from the bot to the station fairly quickly. When I inspected the on-board dustbox after a week, it was mostly clear and just had a bottle cap in it which must have been picked up one day (the cat plays with them). The Deebot station comes with a bag inside already and a spare so you can probably go a couple of months without needing to order a new one. In closing, I find this a major improvement on the robot vacuum we had previously but have to deduct a star for the few disappointments that I noticed in my first week of ownership. The mopping is pointless and I am unlikely to use that feature again. The mapping is good but should really be better, with custom room labels and the ability to divide areas up easily. The vacuuming though is very impressive and now when I come home, I can see some neat, straight stripes in the carpet instead of random tank-tracks. The Deebot makes it home to the charger each day which my other robot sometimes did not and so long as I use the included carpet ramp, makes it up onto the charging station ok to recharge. Being able to direct the Deebot to a specific area is a great feature for any impromptu cleanups although this is not as good as it could be because I currently can’t separate my kitchen from my dining room. That said, the custom clean feature lets you draw a box in a specific area and this is an excellent feature I can use as a workaround in the meantime. This is definitely a large step in the right direction but there is still room for improvement.

Awesome vacuum, not the best mop
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vacuum works really great. Mapping is fantastic too. However, the mop does not work great. Really only used for simply cleaning. If there is something (dirt, food, etc.) that dry on the ground, it will not mop up. You still need another form of mopping to finish the job

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not worth it. It’s a decent vacuum, but mopping is pointless. “Mopping pad” bounces behind it barely touching the surface. I know it can’t scrub my floor, but it’s fairly worthless as a mop. Although I like the way it maps and moves methodically, it frequently can’t locate itself and makes new maps, requiring re-configuring the schedules and automation you think you’re paying extra for. 6 months later, it works less than 10% of the time. I would expect this for a cheaper version, but expected more for the price. Will not buy again.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great robotic vacuum and mop. Took me awhile to set up the virtual borders, areas, and no mop zone on the app. Once I got it set up, no problems, the vacuum and mop cleans well.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s really great vaccum. Buggy
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit on 1/9/2022 and have been using nearly daily in the 22 months since. The unit vacuums acceptably. The mopping feature is one reason I chose this unit but mopping is nothing more than dragging a wet pad over the floor and at best it picks up dust that may have been left behind. Still the unit is helpful. The poor rating is because the unit has a "state-of-the-art edge detection technology designed to prevent unintended falls" that also causes the unit to frequently report that the sensors are covered with dust whenever the unit encounters dark colored rugs (such as doormats). With this unit, I'm unable to vacuum my doormats or under my bed (I have a rug with sporadic dark color spots in the bedroom). Further issues include the unit at times getting into these spaces and then it thinking it's trapped or blocked - I'm told that this is also because of the detection of dark places on the flooring. Eventually I gave up on Ecovacs fixing the issue and placed virtual boundaries around the places in my home that would produce these errors. Now I'm encountering times when the unit will go into the virtual boundary spaces that it isn't supposed to be able to get into. Once within these spaces it stops and reports that it is trapped. This is random, doesn’t happen every time. 21 months into this and the issues are still there. When I'm ready to buy a replacement I will not consider another Ecovacs unless I'm assured this issue is not going to come with the device. Even then I will be leery f the purchase as Ecovacs doesn't appear to prioritize fixing bugs in their product.

Decent Vacuum Bad Software
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well start things off with the bad. While this thing will clean up a solid floor very well, when it comes to carpet, it's not the best. We have a large area rug, and even on it's highest setting it will not get dog hair off. Also it will get stuck on small bathroom rugs/mats, we have to move them anytime we're planning to run the vacuum. While it states it has Laser Mapping, it doesn't do that great of a job of not running into things. The entire top of the laser housing is scrapped and scratched from pushing itself under things, sometimes getting stuck. It also has a very hard time with thresholds or changes from wood to tile. If it has a very tall lip, it will get hung up when the mop is attached, and sometimes without it. If you have pets that shed your going to have to empty this out by hand, as it clogs the small hole and won't empty in the emptying station. If you or your spouse has long hair, you're going to be taking it apart at least once a week or so to cut tangled hair out of the main brush, and the small spinning brushes. To the software, all I can say is junk. It gets lost a couple times a month and you have to go find it. Then you have to reset everything to remap your house again, which usually takes a few cycles to actually map. It's a huge pain, and a time waster. Even though it has laser mapping and a bump sensor, it will still plow into small lightweight objects and push them around without sensing them. It will also slam into chairs, walls, etc. in some occurrences, so if your not wanting small scratches, I'd look elsewhere. The mopping is basically like dragging a damp towel across your floor. You can't add any detergent, just plain water. Not the greatest at spills, but will get the fine dust left over from vacuuming. As a whole it does a good job cleaning when it works correctly. It just take a lot of hand on maintenance to clean the parts, and empty the small bin. This kind of defeats the point of having a auto-empty station. This vacuum has been in our home for a few months now, and it's been cleaning a ~1600sqft home with 2 long haired individuals, and 1 Labrador.
