Customers often highlight the convenient outlet spacing, allowing them to accommodate various devices, including those with larger power bricks. The surge protection capabilities are also frequently praised for safeguarding valuable electronics. Many appreciate the inclusion of USB ports for added charging convenience. While some users suggest improvements like USB-C ports and individual outlet control, the overall feedback is positive.

The Elac Protek 12 Outlet Smart Surge Protector has 12 power outlets and 2 USB-A ports.
It has a 6 foot power cord with a flat plug. The picture on the box and on the website shows a black cord and plug, however they are actually white, which is much preferred. The surge protector is black on top with white sides and a white back. There are also holes in the rear for mounting to a wall.
Out of the box this appears to be a high quality and well designed product. There are 2 outlets at each end (total of 4) that are spaced so that large power adapters can easily fit without hindering the usage of the remaining 8 outlets which are made for standard plugs and are located in the middle. All of the outlets are grounded, 2 are WiFi connected and can be controlled by Google Assistant or Alexa.
The first thing to do is to download the Elac Protek app and then connect the surge protector to you WiFi network.
The app installed easily but the WiFi connection took a couple of attempts. Once connected though, it has stayed connected without any drops. Be sure to read the instructions as you must reset the device inn order to connect to your network, and only a 2.4GHz network.
Once it was connected to my network it was very quick and easy to add to my Google Home app. I can now control 2 outlets with my voice. You can also control those 2 outlets using the Elac app. You can schedule on/off times for different days as well as setting timers.
The remaining 10 outlets and 2 USB ports remain powered all the time.
There are 3 LED lights for power, protection and WiFi status.
When inserting the plugs of your device into the outlets, they go in firmly with no movement.
The protection is rated at 3600 Joules with a response time of 1 nanosecond.
I have my large screen tv and all components and speaker system attached and with heavy use the surge protector has stayed cool to the touch. No heat at all.
This is definitely a high quality, versitile product that I would recommend to anyone.

Very Good Surge Protector with six foot power cord

Very nice 12 outlet surge protector with two usb ports and a six foot cord. This product has a black top with white cord and lower section. Has built in wifi service indicator that works with android (tested) and iphone (not). Indicator lights are ice blue and are no more intrusive than most other products.
Instructions were in a print that was difficult to read (size) and item diagram on the box was difficult to read the numbers indicating what feature was what (number boxes appeared to me as dark blue with black writing). Setup was average as to install app you actually have to type in ELAC proteck to get it to show up. The hardest part was waiting for the actual verification code to land in my email - took 5 minutes so be careful and patient.
Outlets have a nice grip. Some cheaper products are looser and don't hold your heavier plugins as well.
Overall a nice product. The wifi feature would be nice feature if I was at work and something went out, but it is positioned on my wall so I can clearly see indicator lights from my work station.

Who doesn't want to hook up things to the Wi-Fi?
This was a difficult review for me as I tried to wrap my head around what to compare it to, what to think of it. Is it a surge protector for a studio or av equipment? It does have 12 outlets after all. Or is it a Wi-Fi switch for lights? Or ...
In the end, what bothered me the most is that I feel the price is high for the quality and features, you can do better by deciding if you want a high quality surge protector at more than half the price or if you want a wifi switch, at a fraction of the price rather than combining two so so components into one large piece of cheap plastic.
But okay, let's rewind to what it is.
For the price you get 12 outlets reasonably well set out. 4 have enough room to fit modest sized power bricks. I would say that's the ELAC Protek's best feature. The remaining 8 outlets are stacked together to allow room for standard power cords only. You do get a surge protector rated to 3500 joules, which, is about average for this class. You can get better. What you don't get that most surge protectors have is co axial protection, or phone protection (both susceptible to lightening strikes), or any form of insurance. It does have a 3 year warrantee, again average.
And then there is the star feature, Wi-Fi connectively via its own app. The app is okay. You can connect it to your 2.4 ghz Wi-Fi and turn on or off two of the outlets (together, not independently). It was relatively easy to set up, though it does not tell you about how it maintains privacy or from being hacked, so you do have to wonder about it storing your home's password. However, I used software to detect if it was communicating with the outside world and it seemed to behave. But yes, you really can only control one switch (two outlets) which I found disappointing. Once my network went down and I had to reconnect it, somewhat tedious procedure but well managed in the app. I could control it via Alexa, which is good, but typically something I do with a light by the couch to turn it on or off. I suppose it would work with a tv, but typically Alexa can turn that on or off too.
Last, and maybe least, is the build quality. Again for the price I expected more, ruggedized rubber or even metal construction, but it is relatively cheap feeling rigid plastic that feels like it would be easy to crack. And the most strange of all, it doesn't even seem to fit well together, with an overlap at the top that would seem to be easy to break off. Or maybe that is to facilitate sliding it on and off screws in the wall? I don't know, check out the pics for yourself.
In the end, it's an interesting concept and if you really want a wifi switch built into a large surge protector, its one of the few games in town. Other wise I suggest you take the time to check out a surge protector OR a wifi switch.

Smart Surge Protector with Alexa and Google

The ELAC Protest smart Outlet Surge Protector comes well packaged with the surge protector and a quick start guide. There are 2 smart outlets, 2 USB (2.4A) and 10 AC outlets. It is also Alexa and Google Assistant enabled. The power cord is 6 feet long.
Set up was very easy. You follow the steps on the quick start guide and download the app. You follow the steps on the app to complete the set up. The App has a basic user interface and is very easy to follow. The 2 smart outlets are controlled by the App. The remaining outlets are always on.
The App features include:
- Power on/off
- Scheduling
- Countdown
This provides EMI/RFI noise filtration to provide you clean power of 40dB. This protects your electronics. I use this for my TV and home theater equipment. You also get surge protection up to 3600 joules. The maximum current is 15 amps.
Overall, I rate this 4 out of 5 stars. I am deducting 1 star as I have used others that allow for some other outlets to be controlled by a special outlet on the unit. It is nice to control your power usage with this capability. With 15 amps, EMI/RFI and surge protection. You should be protected well.

Solid Surge Protector - Some Minor Flaws

The PB-12W does exactly what its supposed to - protect up to 12 devices run from a single outlet, with some extra features.
It provides 12 AC outlets , some with extra-wide spacing as well as 2 x USB-A outlets and wifi connectivity.
On the face of it this makes for a good 'suits all' adapter, but as you can see from the photos it really all comes down to what you are plugging into it.
If you are using regular AC cables, then there should be no problems spreading out the devices - but as soon as you add any oversized adapters which come with a lot of devices, you are faced with sacrificing at least one or another outlet type. If you hang the adapter over the side of the unit, it wont fit in any cable management boxed, if you hang it 'into' the adapter then you are blocking either another AC adapter or the USB ports.
If you do choose to put the adapter in the 2 large-spaced outlets, then you are committing to them -as these spaces outlets are the only ones that are controllable remotely through the app.
The app itself is easy to setup , register your account in the Elac app and join the surge protector to your wifi network.
Operationally it works as expected, and you can remotely control the on/off state of these 2x wide spaced outlets. Couple of details here to note - ONLY the 2 spaced outlets are controllable (the other 10 are always-on) , and the app will only allow you to control BOTH these outlets at once. So whatever you plug into them you have to expect them to go on and off together. The PB-12W only connects to 2.5Ghz wireless networks but thats nothing unique here and most houses are probably still running dual-band wireless networks exactly because of smart-home devices like this.
Speaking of smart-home, you can control the device with GoogleHome/Alexa etc - but with the limited control of outlets described above, it would have to be used in some simple routines to control high level devices.
So far as a surge protector it does its job well - but I'd happily swap the USB-A ports for USB-C, as well as having independent control of individual outlets (ideally all of them).
If you're looking for a surge protector with flexibility then the PB-12W is a good candidate - just dont expect too much in terms of the connectivity side of things.

Bought this for my home office to plug in a few accessories I don't use all the time with my computer. I like the fact you can turn off the two top outlets so I can use the others with out my speakers being turned on. It seems to be built rather well, switches sound robust and not cheesy. Really don't use the WiFi controls that much in the app, but it always works when I do. Only con I have at the moment is why didn't they include a template for the mounting holes? It would be too bad but the two bottoms mounting holes are spaced differently the the top two. I was able to get it mounted OK, very ocd about my stuff being level on the wall. Other con would be it is very pricey for a surge only detector but I guess the WiFi option makes the price more.

I am always looking for ways to protect expensive electronic equipment. Cheap multiplugs do little to nothing to give you protection. The purchase of a good quality line conditioner and surge protector that can handle a fairly large electrical surge is a wise and relatively cheap investment. Just compare the cost of the Elac 12 outlet smart surge protector the the ever increasing deductibles on your home insurance. Anyway, back to this product in particular. The Elac 12 outlet surge protector is designed to provide 3600 joules of protection. There are 12 outlets, 2 of which are enabled to use through the Elac app and are also enabled to be controlled by Alexa and Google. The app is simple to install and use eoyj s pretty straightforward interface. The use of the app will give you the ability to turn the 2 plugs on and off and to set up schedules to enable items such as lights to come on and off at certain times. The remaining 10 outlets are always on. Along with the protection from things such as lightening, this unit also includes line conditioning which basically filters out noise in the current that can also damage sensitive electronics. This Elac unit has a stout 6 foot cord which is nice when you need to reach a distant plug. This is the best line conditioner/surge suppressor that I have had and I am certainly going to purchase additional Elac units for other equipment that I want to protect. Needless to say, I would certainly recommend this unit for anyone who has valuable equipment.

This feels like a quailty product, made by a reputable company, Elac. I've always known Elac for their premium speakers, so it was interesting to see that they also provide surge protectors.
This was easy to set up using the Protek app. Once set up, you can control two of the outlets with the app, or integrate with Alexa or Google Assistant. I've set up a schedule in the Protek app and it works well, and was simple to do.
I'm using this surge protector with a few computers and a lamp. At the end of the day, the scheduled task turns off the lamp and a laptop charger. This is by my work desk, so I can also use the usb ports to charge my phone and tablet as needed. The outlets are well spaced to allow different sizes of plugs.
It is a great combination of features - surge protection, multiple outlets, smart outlets, and usb ports.

Awesome Power Supply

This is a pretty awesome power supply. Connects to your wifi. Why, you ask? So you can add an Alexa (or Google) skill and then control the device via Alexa. Plugged in the TV so I can have Alexa turn it on and off. No more hunting for the remote! And because of the power surge functionality I plan to plug all the electronics into this puppy. It has 12 electric plug-in spots and two USB spots so everything (TV, DVD, Stereo, etc) is connected in one power supply. Love that!

Not only is it a great surge suppressor, it’s also a handy way or resetting troublesome devices without getting up to do so or powering lights on and off that aren’t “smart”. In my case, one of my media streamer boxes tends to lose its HDMI handshake so a quick power cycle fixes it.
However, it’s smarts are limited as only two outlets out of 12 are controlled by the smart switch; the other 10 and the USB ports are not. For most, however, this shouldn’t be an issue, especially with today’s “smart” electronics and lighting devices. Those two outlets have transformer spacing, as do two more outlets; the other 8 are typical spacing for a power strip.
My only issue is the ELAC Protek app wasn’t very intuitive for a setup guide, making me think there was a separate reset button instead of the switched outlet indicator. Connecting it to Google was easy enough though.
Still, a quality power strip for the price.

Smart Surge Protector. More Than Enough Outlets

I love how this surge protector has 12 outlets so I can plug in more things. I finally have an extra outlet to charge my phone at night. Not only does it have more outlets than what I need now but it also has 2 WiFi outlets that I have my bedroom lamps plugged into and I can turn off using my echo dot. If your like me and have a lot of electronics that you use then this surge protector to is definitely worth it. It's perfect for a theater room where you need to plug in a receiver, tv, and multiple gaming consoles. I would definitely recommend this to any consumer looking to upgrade their household to smart tech and/or is needing more outlets to plug stuff in.

This 12 port surge protector allows control over your power hungry devices by automating when they are on and decreasing the "vampire" effect of electronics left plugged in. We did not experience any significant power dips while testing this item, but we do frequently see dips and flickering lights in our house which made us want to look at this. The app is pretty straightforward and easy to set up. The scheduling and countdown features work as designed to control devices and shut off the power strip. Wifi connectivity is as simple as downloading the app and keeping your phone near the power strip when you first plug it in. Seems like a good option for home AV or computer equipment that you want to power off automatically.
