This review will encompass the Elgato Wave DX dynamic mic, the Elgato XLR, the XLR microphone cable, and Elgato's Wave Link software as they all work together as a complete solution. When I started streaming a year ago, I went with the Elgato Wave 3 condenser mic because it was a very cost-effective option and it gave me access to their Wave Link digital mixing software. As I became more experienced in streaming and audio configuration, I upgraded to the XLR system using the Wave DX dynamic microphone. You can do your own research regarding the differences between condenser mics and dynamic mics, but in a nutshell the dynamic mic produces better audio, but requires amplification and mixing through a physical hardware device (enter the Wave XLR). Dynamic mics also work better in environments where you don't want the mic to pickup background noise, which is the reason why virtually every professional podcaster and radio stations exclusively use them. As a whole, the Elgato ecosystem with the Wave DX, Wave XLR, XLR mic cable, and Wave Link software is a great option for people looking for professional quality audio without spending two or three times more for other brands.

[Employee of bestbuy] Works amazingly with my XLR microphone and the software is excellent with lots of available plugins for Noise Suppression, De-essing, etc.

Everything works fine but I wish it had more inputs and a headphone jack in the front for better cable management. It take some time to get use to the software compared to hardware audio interface but the functionally of controlling your mic and stream mix aka submit is next level. Also splitting audio up to 7 channels on one device is pretty nuts for $150 device. Most other xlr streaming/audio device is $250-$500, Elgato wave xlr is much more affordable option and the library of VST is a major bonus. Well really well with other Elgato products to create your own ecosystem.

This works great as a cheaper solution for an XLR mic if you dont want to apend 4 or 500 dollars on a mixer. The software elgato has that comes with it isnt the most intuitive, but once you figure it out its basically like having a small mixer. Also, to mute it...tap the back. Took me a min to figure this out lol.

The setup was very easy, but the learning curve for the link eq was hard to understand at first. Once you understand the software along with this device it easily becomes the best budget xlr mixamp money can buy. I paired it with the audio technica 2040 and it works like a dream with the dynamic focus of the microphone

Very easy to set-up, and the Elgato software is fantastic. I'll upgrade to the streamdeck + eventually, but this works great for driving my mic and headphones.

StreamDeck/Wave items all fill a very clear niche, based on what model you get. This model allows connection of an XLR microphone to your computer with a clean and simple to use interface.

I really have enjoyed using the Wave XLR. The dial on the front is easy to use and the capacitive touch-to-mute on the backside is reliable. I’ve had mine for a while now and I really don’t have anything else to say other than it’s good, like, REALLY good. The audio feed from the device is nice and clean, the cord to connect to the PC is a usb-c usb-a. Also, the cord is nice and long, pretty much guarantees you can place it anywhere on your desk. Now, where this device shines is the software. When you set this device up you download the wave link software. This software is excellent, and well made. You have the option to route and control all audio through wave link. Additionally, you can add VSTs to your microphone for free! VST support is essential for streamers or gamers looking to get an edge on their audio quality. I know this interface is kind of pricey for only one XLR input, but the software alone makes up for it 2-fold. I still use this device every day, and it’s very likely I’ll still be using it 3 years from now. Disclaimer: This product only comes with the interface; you still need an XLR microphone and an XLR cord to make it work. Additionally, if you want to use this for your DAW (digital audio workstation), check for compatibility with your software (it’s very hit or miss).

Since my GoXLR started going out on me and I already had a Stream Deck + I went full Elgato for audio set up with the XLR. Combined with a Shure SM7B mic it has worked great! I do wish there were some more options in the WaveLink software but it meets every requirement and just works.

For just casually talking, this is the only device you need for xlr mics. The ease of use is very user friendly and the software is a bit confusing but straightforward. Uses minimal space so you can place it anywhere. Overall very solid with a good price and quality.

Upgraded from an older USB mic to a rode xlr podmoc and this interface. Quality is very noticable improved, and the setup and operation was/is a breeze, much easier than the usb setup was!! The software side is great too!! If you're wondering whether this is worth it, if you have a genuine use case and know what you're looking for and good to achieve it, I'd say this is a no-brainer.

High price but worth it! Allows me to monitor my mic and listen to myself while speaking without having any freezes or audio issues unlike my Scarlett Solo. You can also add VST filters to EQ your voice exactly how you want it! Must have for anyone doing content or wanting to get the most out of their XLR mic.
