    Simple Natural Breastmilk Suction Pump

Having tried other Elvie products, I was excited to try the Elvie Curve. It was my first time trying out a natural suction, manual breast pump and I was surprised at the results. I was a little skeptical of how the pump would work since I did not understand its mechanism. Following the included instructions, I first tried out the product by wearing the curve on my left breast, which was pretty full, and the Elvie catch on my right. The instructions said to attach the pump to the breast and squeeze the silicone to create suction. I wasn't sure if I had put it on correctly so I squeezed it a few times to make sure. In a couple of minutes I realized milk slowly started to express. I compared both milk amounts collected (from the curve and catch). I collected about 3 to 3.5 oz in the curve (with a breast full of milk) and 1 to 1.5 oz in the catch within about a 30 to 45 minute time frame. Typically for me, pumping usually takes 10 to 15 minutes and can get 2.5 to 4 oz, depending on the fullness of my breasts. So this felt like it took took longer but I did get within the same average of milk. The difference from electric pumping is that I was able to sit back and relax, not worried about shutting off a pump and didn't put strain on my breasts or nipples. Some things about the Elvie Curve: the most natural way to pump, especially for those with objections/thoughts against electric pumps. It is in the same line of natural suction manual pumps as the popular Haakaa pump. You can wear this pump while feeding your baby to help express more milk or simply while doing other things. The shell that holds the silicone really allows for the pump to keep its shape and also not tip over as easily when set down. The silicone itself is very thick and seems like it will hold its shape perfectly for extended use. It is easy to clean and also dishwasher safe. A few things that I wasn't too pleased with was with emptying the milk out and low level suction. When tipping over the pump, if done incorrectly, can cause a large spill or for a small amount of milk to stay in the valve and not empty out entirely. I realize that the low level suction was my mistake due to not pressing down on the valve to get higher suction. Also, I wouldn't recommend wearing this while feeding your baby laying down. Tipping over the pump while wearing it could cause you to lose suction and spill the milk. Overall, I recommend this pump to people wanting more than a simple milk saver (like the Elvie Catch), but a more natural option to pumping. The Elvie Curve is hands-free and discreet.

ELVIE CURVE can be nursing mom's best friend

Elvie Curve, $50 at Best Buy, fits discreetly in the bra. It is designed to allow pumping after nursing or any time it is time to pump. With a squeeze when in place, and adjustments to technique, it is not unusual to express at or near Elvie Curve’s recommended maximum fill of 4 ounces. According to our new mother of twins who has been using it for several days: “the Elvie Curve is far superior to other silicone breast pumps/milk collectors I have tried! For starters, the suction is simple to administer and maintain (where other silicone pumps become less than firmly attached and even fall often, leading to that dreadful spilt milk that could make any nursing mother want to cry). To express once suctioned, I need only press on the front of the Curve - easy! - where with other pumps I would need to find just the right amount of pressure with which to squeeze but not detach the pump in the process. The collection cup is also comfortable and oh so portable! I pop it into my nursing bra on the side I am not currently nursing on and essentially forget it's there. I am never worried it will fall out, nor that my little one will knock it off. She doesn't know it's in there, either! Lastly, it’s two easy pieces making this mama oh-so-happy about minimal clean up.” That's high praise from one picky mama!

The elvie curve saved me the first 2 days being home with my new born. She refused to latch and I didn’t buy a pump. This helped me between the few days while waiting for my elvie stride to arrive. I recommend it for any milk let down while you’re breastfeeding.

I bought the Elvie pumps and I didn’t love them. I was skeptical at first and wasn’t sure if this would work but it’s AMAZING! I have a Hakka and i love it but my newborn kept ninja kicking it off and I was so tired of seeing all that spilled liquid gold. This one works amazing it sits in my bra while I nurse my little one. If you’re looking for something that won’t spill your milk this is the one!

Like how compact and light it was to put in a diaper bag. Only reason why i didnt like it was because of the emptying of the milk. It was messy and not easy because of the curves.

These are such a game changer for breastfeeding moms. They are easy to apply and you can wear very easily under a nursing bra. Nice way to build up a stash.

    Elvie Curve For The Win!

I've used the Haakaa silicone pump in the past and it is definitely not discreet like the Curve. The Curve fit perfectly inside my nursing bra (the same kind I wear while using the Elvie pumps) and I did not have to worry about it being knocked off and/or spilled. I found the suction to be a bit strong but that strong suction got a lot of milk out. You can adjust the strength of the suction but it will take some practice to adjust without breaking the seal. I was quite surprised how easy it was to pour the milk out of the Curve and into a storage bag and bottle. I normally clean my Haakaa out with a bottle brush very quickly but had trouble fitting my brush into the Curve so it was a little more time consuming to clean out with a dishcloth instead. With that being said, I now use my Curve over the Haakaa and will be recommending it to other breastfeeding Mamas.

We've tested other Elvie products in the past and this proves to be as good as them all, but not perfect. It's super easy to use because of its compact size, and allows you to be discreet about it as well. It's very comfortable for what it is, and super portable. The problem is that it's not as reliable as we'd like it to be. There are times when it doesn't work because it's not as strong as it could be. Overall a product that's solid for the price. It's more like 4.5 stars but rounding down to 4. I'd still recommend this as it's so unique and changes the experience.

It’s such a good product, the concept is really good. But I gave it two stars because it would barely collect 1 oz but my hakka gets 4 oz out of me.

The Elvie Curve takes the concept of a passive breast pumps in a much more user friendly direction, but given the price, the amount of milk I got from it was less than expected. I transitioned from one of the main competitors to the Elvie because the previous product was terribly designed from a convenience factor; it's basically a huge bottle that cannot be worn discretely. This is huge selling point for the Curve; it's designed similar in shape and form to Elvie's electric pumps, meaning it can be worn in a braw without drawing attention to it. The Curve also has a valve system that allows you to somewhat control the level of suction, which is really handy. This ease of use and ease of cleaning are the main reasons to buy the Curve. Compared to my last passive silicone pump, I'm getting less milk output overall, by about half an ounce. Given the price, I was hoping for similar, if not improved output, but that's not the case, at least for me. Overall, my decision comes down to ease of use vs. output. In certain circumstances, the Curve is the clear choice, but that's not always the case.

    Discreet Manual Pump

This pump works basically as I expected it would. While it's not as efficient as an electric pump, it would be perfect to use while nursing at the other breast. You could easily build a freezer stash with this using minimal effort. It takes a little practice getting the suction right but that is to be expected. It wasn't uncomfortable for me at all and I like that it fits in your bra. This allows it to be discreet and also helps hold it in place. My favorite feature is the little valve to release the suction which makes removing the pump really easy. I was worried pouring the milk out due to its shape, and thought cleaning it might be difficult but both were actually quite easy. So long as you turn it as the directions show, it pours without spilling and you can get a bottle brush into it to clean without any issues. Overall I am very pleased with the design and function of the Elvie Curve.
