Discrete. Quiet. Comfortable. Quality.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am writing this review on behalf of my wife so all of the opinions written here will reflect her experiences with the Elvie Double Electric Breast Pump. To put it simply she is VERY happy. This is not our first child, but it is the first time using something like the Elvie Double Electric Breast Pump. First off it is discreet for something of this nature, and more importantly comfortable. My wife was a little unsure of trying something like this, but after fitting the device she was very happy. The quality is great, and after cleaning, and using it a few times I am sure that it will hold up to our purposes without issue. It is equally easy to use. Although not required the app allows my wife to start pumping as easily as picking up her phone. The device is extremely quiet. This can easily be done anytime or anywhere, and just attests to the discretion of the device. It is all about being convenient, and comfortable. At a time when we can use all of the help we can get the Elvie Double Electric Breast Pump is there to make our life just a little easier while still allowing us to provide our new baby with her natural mother's milk. My wife only wishes that we had the Elvie Double Electric Breast Pump for our first child!

Impressive portable pump
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this box showed up I was skeptical. The box is TINY, I didn't think they could fit much but boy was I wrong. This box is packed full once you get the pumps out. I couldn't believe everything it came with. This is my second child and I'm determine to make breastfeeding and pumping work. I have a normal pump for at home but needed something like this for when I need to get stuff done around the house or chase a toddler and care for the newborn. These are so easy to toss into my bra and be on my way. I didn't get this to replace a regular pump but to use as needed so I think my expectations were met. This allows me to not miss a pump time while also not being tied to wires or the wall. I think the app works well and I think the suction and function are great for the small size and ease of use on the go. The bottles for storage are cute and don't take up much room if I put them in the fridge vs. freezing for later. I do feel like it's a ton quieter than an average pump so that's a bonus as well. My only complaint would be the included flange sizes didn't work but I have that issue with most pumps.

High tech breast pump
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(This review is based on my wife's opinion after using it for a good week) First off, a lot comes included in the package. In the box you get 2 hubs, 4 bottles, 2 breast shields (24mm), 2 breast shields (28mm), 4 seals, 4 spouts, 4 valves, 4 bra adjusters, 4 bottle lids, 2 USB charging cables, and 2 carry bags. Before using two things have to be done. The main hub units have to be charged via the USB cables, and the bottle, spout, and breast shields have to be sterilized. The green light on the hub indicates that it's ready to use. (There's an app that you can install on your smartphone. This works in real time with the breast pump itself. For example you can see how much milk has been pumped, etc...) Once the breast shield, bottle, and hub have been assembled, it's time to attach the pump. (These are my wife's words) The trickiest part is lining up the shield correctly. It's difficult to see the markings that are supposed to help you line it up correctly. It took some trial and error to get it on. Comfort level rates at about 7/10. The process itself starts with "stimulation mode" which gets the rhythm started. From there it switches to expression mode once the milk starts flowing. Another area that required trial and error was the intensity setting. This essentially controls the suction. If the alignment of the breast shield isn't correct, setting the intensity higher will NOT fix the issue. This is why there's so much trial and error in doing this. Once the bottle is full, the pump will automatically pause (which is extremely useful in that you don't have to constantly focus on the bottle level, and can do some reading or work) Switching out the bottle is as easy as pressing a button and pulling the bottle off from the hub. It's took some time to figure out the proper fitting/comfort level, but after like 8 pump sessions, my wife found what worked and what didn't for her. All in all, the pump itself works when aligned properly. Comfort is most likely a case by case opinion, the smartphone app is extremely helpful, and the pump itself has very useful automatic features. My wife gave it a solid 4/5 stars. She took a star off for the learning curve involved in achieving maximum milk production and comfort.

Great for use while doing other tasks.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Elvie Pump - Double Electric Breast Pump (This review is from the perspective of my daughter) I’ve had three children and with each child came the latest and greatest in breast pumping technology. Marketed to busy moms everywhere, the Elvie is designed to be convenient, quiet and portable. The Elvie pump is a single unit. Unlike most pumps I've had, the Elvie has no hoses that run into a main unit. The pumps can be bought as a single unit or as pair. The packaging comes in a sleek, modern white cube of a box with no flaps. Instead the top pulls off, revealing a base with all the parts and components. The problem with this is after opening, I would put it all back together, pick up the box from the sides and the bottom would fall out, spilling its contents. The act of dropping everything showed me two things. First, The Elvie EP01 has a lot more parts than my other pumps have had that come apart and require cleaning. Two, this was the first of multiple drops without so much as leaving a mark. The durability of the Elvie EP01 pump impressed with each unintentional drop test. The Elvie pump, much like the box, has a sleek white design with a curved, form fitting shape. The hard plastic milk storage container attaches securely to the bottom. The breast shield and other small parts were not difficult to put together, but there are a lot of them and I could tell right from the start the Elvie would require more maintenance than my standard less portable pump. The front of the unit has a power button, a left and right button (relevant in the app), a pause/play button and finally plus and minus buttons to adjust the pump strength. What is absent is a visual guide to the current settings of the pump. The Elvie has no screen or way of displaying the current pump strength, instead it relies on an app that can be downloaded through iOS or the Google Play Store. For the purpose of this review, I downloaded the application via Google Play Store and made my account. The initial setup process is fairly simple if you’ve ever used Bluetooth or connected to a WiFi network. The app walks you through the process of syncing your pump(s) to the phone, giving you access to the remaining features of the Elvie.. Once connected it was easy to adjust the strength of the pump, monitor battery level and even start/pause the unit. Now this is a personal opinion, I simply don’t care to use my phone to control the pump. One of the main issues is the applications “memory”. It struggled to reconnect with the pumps at later times and forced me to redo some of the process each time I wanted to use them with the app. When you slip the Elvie into your bra, the shape helps it curve to the body and even looks mildly natural from the outside. This is one of the big marks in the good category for the Elvie. Let’s face it, it costs more than many other pumps so it’s really going to have to sell itself. Once turned on, it feels similar to the other pumps in comfort and extraction strength options with one major difference. With the Elvie I can actually get up and do things. This is pretty darn great. No longer would a power outlet determine where I can go. Need to pump at work but you’re having trouble finding a good spot? Elvie can help with that. The Elvie EP01 can even get you through a few pumps on one charge. Having the freedom to easily move around and accomplish what you need to accomplish while pumping is awesome. As cool as the shape and ease of use is, the Elvie still struggles with a few things. If you’re not sitting straight up, the pump may turn off, thinking the milk container is full, before it actually is. Another issue is the controls. The on-device buttons can be difficult to use or access when they’re in the bra. This is supposed to be solved by the application that works with the Elvie. Unfortunately the persnickety relationship between the app and the Elvie pump causes it to drop connections or have other minor issues while in use. Although these instances can be uncommon, it’s still a significant issue. When set-up and working properly, the app can be a dream. It’s easy to make changes to the pump strength and track the amount of milk extracted from each side. Working the pump with the application does add a learning curve you might not have with other pumps. When running, the pump is incredibly quiet, staying in line with the idea it’s a more discreet pump. One thing to point out that may or may not be a problem is the milk container size. I’m a heavy milk producer. I can pump enough to fill the standard 5 oz container in a few minutes and have milk to spare. To fully empty I would need around three containers. Most pumps I’ve had in the past came with a few 5 ounce bottles with an option to purchase larger ones. I have yet to see a larger option for the Elvie, but I’m sure we all know why. The Elvie is a portable, discreet pump that can hide in a bra. It would be pretty tough to squeeze a 10 (or even an 8) ounce container into a bra and still maintain a sense of dignity but maybe a 6oz container would be okay. The Elvie EP01 breast pump has a straightforward message. It’s possible to multitask and not look or feel silly while doing it. You can pump and work at the same time. If you pump eight times a day for twenty minutes a session that would be 160 minutes of downtime. When you need that time for other things, the Elvie can help you. Yes it has many small parts that need to be cleaned. Yes it can be a bit daunting to learn. However, the Elvie has a sleek, comfortable design with a good battery, quiet motor and can slide right into a bra. Pros: Sleek, comfortable design Durable parts Quiet motor Hands free once set and started Has auto-off when container is full Fast charging Good battery life Cons: Learning Curve Relies on application Auto-off will sometimes activate if it thinks a bottle is full (sitting back, bending forward) Many small parts More expensive than some competitors

A bit over hyped
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife loved the idea of this for when she is nursing our new baby. Unfortunately she never was able to really use it. Just to get it out of the way, the real issue is how hard it sucks. My wife has always used pumps on the lower settings and rarely set it over the half way mark on any pump she has used. However on this one the lowest setting was still too strong for her. Because of this these were actually painful to her on the lowest setting and she could never comfortably use them. Her best guess is that having it hands free means the suction needs to be a little higher to make sure it doesn't lose suction or detach, but for her that was just a little too strong. Other issues she had with them is that the cups are a hard plastic. Other pumps she's used were softer and she felt that those were both more comfortable as well as just easier to get to fit right. The design of the pumps also are such that you may need to get a new bra just for them. If you put it in your nursing bra you are used to its almost for sure going to stretch it out. It does increase your size, for those that really like that, but the shape is nothing close to natural and its pretty obvious you have something weird in there. Its is convenient as far as being able to walk around while pumping, but its not like anyone would go out in public wearing these. Its just good for those that love to multitask. Overall there are a lot of gimmicks that my wife was really excited about, and some of them may have lived up to the hype if the minimum suction setting was a bit lower. For those that like a stronger suction on the pumps this will probably be great, but if you are someone that is a little more sensitive and would like a lower setting, this may not be the right one for you.

Discreet nursing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Elvie Pump is a modern take on a much needed device for mothers. This device was used by my wife and these are her comments: I liked how easy these were to discreetly place in my nursing bra and go about my day. No more having to take out a lot of equipment or go to the nursing room. I was able to continue working and doing what i was needed to do with out having to worry about pumping. It wasn't uncomfortable it actually was very unnoticeable while they went to work and did what was needed. I would recommend this to any new mother that is working and on the go.

Good pump, not worth the price tag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this pump because it was highly recommended from a friend. Overall, the pump is powerful for a wearable and it does a good job. A few inconveniences that I wouldn’t expect for the large price tag: The Bluetooth unpaired from one of the 2 pumps after a few uses and will not connect. I contacted customer service and they were not helpful. Also, there are 3 different size flanges that are compatible with this pump and the pump only comes with the middle and largest sizes. Naturally, I needed the smallest flanges so after splurging on the pump, I needed to spend $30 more for the flange in order to use it properly.

Cannot Move Much
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked being able to have hands for this pump. But the bottom piece is not secure. It leaks when it gets to about 2 oz. I pump about 10 oz per boob and the 4 oz was not enough. It took too long for the milk to come out and not enough hindmilk expressed with this pump. It caused some uncomfortable clogs. But its great for being quiet and on the go for car rides. I would NOT recommend using it during activities like cooking or chopping vegetables. It will leak. The pour spout is not the most efficient. It isnt a smooth pour, there is a good amount of breast milk that stays behind because of the angle of the poor. It catches on the lip of the device.

Hands free comfort and freedom
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros * Super convenient to be able to pump and not be connected to a wall plug *Discreet for the most part *Extremely comfortable, Very similar feeling to nursing. Some times forget I am even wearing them *Being able to control the pumps with the easy to use app *Compact size easy and light weight to travel with *Able to use 5-6 times per day for 20 min pump sessions without needing to recharge *Great customer support! *Customizable setting so every time you turn the pumps on it remembers your setting Cons *The flange sizes that come with the pump were all so big for me *Can not bend over while using, leaks milk easily *The app is not accurate in calculating milk output *Lots of parts to clean, 6 parts per pump *It is not completely silent, I have used the while at work and had a client ask me what that noise was All in all I would and do recommend this pump to my friends. With so much stuff going on now these free up a little bit of time that I can pump and do other stuff if need be. Very happy with them.

Wife loves it!

The future of pumping
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The significant other speaking here. This is not really a necessity, but it's a really really nice convenience. It's truly the future of pumping and works ever so surprisingly well. It's uncomfortably comfortable if that makes sense. We are huge fans of technology and this is truly a nice development in this technological age that we live in. Again, want to reiterate that if you don't have the budget for this, it is truly not necessary and you will be fine without it, I promise :) But if you have money to spare or want to add this to your Christmas wish list, it's really nice to have and use. A+ rating for me.

Super Quiet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gave this to the spouse to use while she was working at the hospital, this worked miracles. She said that it gave her dignity back by not making her feel like a cow while at work, she is able to do her work without the interference. She did say the biggest problem she found is the battery only lasts a few charges before needing to be recharged which can be difficult for those that need to last on a 12 hours shift. Highly recommended!

Could not get it to work!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered the Elvie Pump - Double Electric Breast Pump for my daughter-in-law who just recently gave birth to my grandson. The first thing she was instructed to do was to charge both pumps and after that to download the Elvie Pump app. The Elvie app is supposed to give more operation of functions such as monitor milk volume, track sessions and remotely control the pump. She tried for weeks to get the pump to work and fill the bottles with breast milk, but to no real avail. Every time she tried to pump her breast milk, she could only accumulate a tiny amount less than ¼ full. Some milk was wasted between her breast and the breast shield when she removed the pump. She did not appreciate how the pump felt when the suction began, because of the tightness felt.
