Can't really attest to how it fries, because we never got that far. About ten minutes after we plugged it in, we noticed the light on it went out, and then shortly thereafter when we tried to use some other appliances and outlets in the kitchen, we discovered that all of them had been tripped. None of them were overloaded prior to plugging the fryer in, and we have not had any problems since. I think the fryer just had faulty wiring, Needless to say we returned it.
Certainly doesn't mean all the fryers are faulty, but we are reluctant to buy this one again.

This was on sale for $30 when I got it back on 11/18, so it was a great deal. There are a couple of issues, though. About 6 months after using it I could tell that it took longer to cook some things. I was cooking medium chicken thighs in 10-15 minutes when it was new and now it takes 20-30. It doesn't effect smaller cut vegetables, but the lower heat takes longer to cook proteins. I haven't checked the temp while it's running, but it's apparently running colder now. The button that keeps the basket secure failed within a couple of months, which means if you're not careful when pulling the basket out that the bottom with all the hot grease releases itself, hits the floor and splatters that grease on you and everything else around. More recently the plastic timer nob has stripped out and for a while you could start it but not turn it off. Now it doesn't work at all and just spins so I have to use pliers to adjust the timer. So this still works and I use it almost everyday, but there are some issues with it and due to those issues I have to be careful with it.
