So, I'm a real sucker. I'll be honest: I read the first two reviews posted for this item. I just figured maybe they had just been careless when trying to install the battery (maybe they rushed through it, or didn't ensure that they had placed it in the right spot). So I ordered the replacement battery (from the stats, it looked like it'd be 18% more efficient than the original battery; plus my original wasn't lasting as long as it used to) and today I tried installing it. First, the instructions are TERRIBLE - pictures should have been included for those who are less technically inclined. Second, the tool they provide sucks - I got my video iPod open on one side, then the tool snapped. I had to finish up with a thin flathead screwdriver (which wouldn't have worked if I hadn't already gotten the iPod partially opened). Third - here's the kicker - THE BATTERY IS TOO BIG!!! It's too thick. I got the connectors in place, and tried to snap the iPod closed. In spite of taking much care and effort, I could not avoid having the LCD screen "smush," thus ruining it. I'm sending an e-mail to Best Buy customer service - they need to stop selling this battery. Then I will be contacting Energizer. You've been warned, folks!!!

This battery was just bad. Wrong deminsion if you press on your ipod too hard after installing this battery it will mess up your screen. Had to go through Energizer to get things straightened out! Consider yourself warned!! IT DOES NOT FIT! NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Make sure to note if you buy this that you have either a 60GB or 80GB iPod video, NOT the 30GB version. Most likely this was the reason it didn't fit in the iPods of the reviewers below, because it was meant for the larger capacity models which have a thicker form factor. Best Buy should have really listed that to save so many people grief.

This battery is twice the thickness of the original and heaven help you if you open it up since bestbuy.com won't take it back!

My 3 yr old ipod battery died. The Apple store offered me a 10% discount on a new ipod. I thought I would give this battery a shot even though the reviews were not good. I was able to install the battery without any problems and now I have my music again. I don't know why the others had problems. My ipod is a 60g video generation and with the new battery, it is working fine. Hey, $30 vs $300. A no-brainer.
