Stopped Working? Here is a possible fix.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If your Energizer Rubber LED Flashlight stops working, it may be the bottom circular electrode has oxidized. When you remove the batteries, you will see a circular metal disk at the bottom of the flashlight. If that disk is dark brown or discolored, then the electrical conductivity might be cut off due to oxidation. I believe the disk should be bright and shiny. The best way I found to remove the oxidation/discoloration was to wrap a small strip of 1,500 grit wet/dry sandpaper to the tip of an unsharpened pencil and tape the sandpaper around the sides of the pencil, leaving only the circular face of the sandpaper exposed. Then put the sandpapered pencil in the flashlight and lightly sand off the oxidation until the circular electrode is bright and shiny again. Then clean the circular electrode with 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol (I used 90%). Let dry. The electrical conductivity should be restored and your light should start working again. I fixed two flashlights this way. As I have four of these flashlights. They are very handy, so I did not want to throw them away when they suddenly stopped working. The above-mentioned fix worked perfectly for me. If you have an even smaller diameter wooden stick, the sandpaper trick might work better since a stick with a diameter smaller than a #2 pencil (like a wooden shish kabob stick, the flat end, not the pointy end) will give you more room inside the flashlight body to move the sandpaper back and forth.
