Our biggest concerns going into this purchase were how bright the screen was, 'ghosting', and other scary stories you may read when researching projectors.
When we set out to make our new 'theater', we set out buying curtains and such that would reduce the lighting in the room as much as possible. Let me tell you that while I don't regret this, it was a bit overboard. The picture that is projected is brighter than we anticipated. When someone turns on the light mid movie/show, you can still easily make out the picture. It's not ideal obviously but it's not as if you have to rewind what you're watching because you can't see the picture.
The picture is clear and the ability to adjust the focus of the lens is super easy. Again, this is our first projector and ease of use was a concern. While we're not tech illiterate, I still maintain it's very easy to operate out of the box.
I wish we'd done this years ago. Our TVs are seeing significantly less use now.

This is an excellent projector. The picture quality is excellent. The very high contrast rate is really evident in quality output.
It's very easy to setup and having embedded android tv is very helpful in accessing all the different streaming services.
I recommend this projector.

Very impressed with the picture, easy setup, and smart features have been great. Fan is a bit noisy but to be expected with a projector. And the speakers aren't terribly loud (again, as expected.) Overall, though, very pleased with the purchase and quality so far.

Pros:
Excellent picture quality
Easy to use
Great value
Relatively quiet
Bright picture
Great contrast
Cons:
No HDMI ARC. If you want to connect this to a receiver and use the built in android tv, you will not get sound through your surround sound speakers, only from the projectors built in speaker. Either you have to unplug the streaming stick from the back of the projector and connect it directly to the receiver (in which case the remote is not working for me) or use a different streaming device. It is rather annoying that it is set up this way. If you want to use a surround sound system then the "smart" aspect of the projector is basically useless.
Mounting Points. If you are mounting this projector from a ceiling, you may find that the mounting holes are located on only one half of the projector making the weight distribution very uneven which could cause the projector to tilt back if using a budget amazon ceiling mount.

Super pumped about the projector! Was debating between this model and an ultra black model but in my situation I thought I’d try this one. First off, I’m using it in my living room and using a 100” pull down screen at a 12’ distance. Looking over the charts it’s debatable whether the difference between 4K and 1080p would even be perceptible to the human eye (you can find charts online that help you determine that based on 20 20 vision). Secondly bc it’s not in a dedicated theater room that could be blacked out completely and have walls specially treated to prevent reflection, the contrast and black levels of the higher end units would still be noticeable, but not as stark as if it was a perfect environment. So I just bought and set up this unit last night in about 30 minutes and had a “dinner and a movie” date night. We were both blown away by the quality of the picture, and that was without blackout curtains and we had a fire in the fireplace giving off some ambient light. It was incredible, like to my eyes, theater quality. I have a 10 year old surround sound system and simply bought a blu ray player (Sony UBP-X700) that has both an hdmi output for the video and a separate hdmi output for audio. That was necessary bc my receiver being dated doesn’t have pass through for an HD source and the projector only has a headphone jack for audio out (it may have Bluetooth too, haven’t checked?). But with my setup running hdmi audio from the blue ray player to the sound receiver and hdmi video signal separately from the blu ray player to the projector, I’m still getting the highest fidelity audio signal and have no issues with lag since both the video and audio signals are coming directly from the source. It made for an easy, quick setup and provides the best signal. The only complaint I have in hindsight is that the blu ray player only offers streaming from a handful of sources with most the major players- Netflix, Prime video, vudu, Hulu, Etc, but cannot download additional platforms like HBO Max for instance if I wanted to. So, if I have certain streaming services I choose to use directly through the projector I’ll have to rely on the headphone jack out to my stereo which is less than ideal, but probably still fine, just a compromise. If I had done my homework I would have maybe looked for blu ray players that have separate audio and video hdmi outputs but also offer the capability to download additional streaming services. But that’s a minor complaint as I’m overwhelmingly stoked about the setup and really impressed with how well this projector performs in a living room with no light control and untreated walls. Would definitely buy again and am so glad I didn’t spend more money for a higher end unit. This one works perfectly for me. It really was stunning how good a picture quality this unit provides. Really impressed.

This is a great projector as long as we use it direct-connected to an HDMI cable. Note that I removed one star because it only connects via 2.4ghz WiFi and the receiver is not strong enough to pick up a good signal in our office building.

This picture quality on this projector looks amazing, and the sound quality is pretty good. I also feel the need to defend the android function, because I have had no issues with any of the apps whatsover. Youtube has worked flawlessly. I also downloaded DAZN to watch fhe Canelo fight, and not only did it look clear, but there was no lag at all. I was hesitant to purchase due to bad reviews regarding app functionality. But I have had no issues. I also have an Android phone to sync with, so not sure if that is why I am having great success with all the apps. But irregardless, no complaints over here.

I don't like how many of these recent reviews are by "Best Buy Tech Insiders" who were given this product free for their "unbiased" review.
At any rate, we've had this for two weeks. It's our first projector and we're very happy with it. It sits on a small table next to our couch and we love the lens shift. The projector is at an angle and the image looks perfect. The Google TV integration is very easy to use. We had a hard time syncing the remote up for a bit but it eventually worked and this is now our TV replacement. It's nice to not have a huge TV in the room. Sound is great (but we're getting Nest Audio speakers) and we love the image quality, as everyone else says. It makes movie nights really fun.

This projector is my first one after using lots of different TVs over the years. We got it for outdoor use but so far have only used it inside. Great picture, very bright, nice contrast, lots of settings and adjustments. Able to make the screen small or huge. Definitely high quality and glad we chose this one. One annoyance is sometimes the sound will get really quiet and using the main remote volume buttons won’t fix it. One workaround I found is using voice control and saying max volume. This adjusts the other volume setting since there are two different settings for volume.

This is an amazing projector! Wanted something that was great quality, bright and smart features built into it. We have used it for indoor and outdoor movies, projecting on a 12ft (145”) screen and it’s bright and crisp! Even starting the movies before it was dark. It goes up to 300” as well. It picks up wifi easily and love that I didn’t need to buy an extra fire stick. Well worth the price if you want an exceptional image.

All I can say is wow.
I've only owned "business class" projectors in the past, and this thing blows them all away.
Bright, crisp image, beautiful colors and none of that LED-flickering you see on every other projector I've used.
This is also pretty light, and seems like just a bunch of plastic. But I accidentally dropped it when the cord got caught while I was carrying it. I thought for sure it was dead, but I plugged it in and it has worked flawlessly.

The Epson Home Cinema 2250 is Epson’s foray into smart projectors. Smart projectors are nothing new, in fact they’ve been around for quite some time. However what is new is a major manufacturer in projectors to adopt a streaming platform. Sure Epson has had varying degrees of smarts in their projectors for years, mostly for office applications, but this is different, this is Android TV. This turns the effectively dumb projector into a device that’s much more versatile out of the box. This is still a traditional projector though, no battery dons the inside giving an illusion of spontaneity, but rather it’s an integration of a solid platform and solid projector.
Out of the box, the projector is wrapped in plastic to keep its glossy outside safe from scratches. Inside are a long power cord, manual, and 2 remotes. Why 2 remotes? Well, I’m not exactly sure, as the initial setup only had me pair one remote, and it wasn’t overly obvious how to pair the other one. Essentially it’s easy to tell one remote was Epson’s interpretation of Android TV’s controls, and the other is probably a response from Google enforcing a more standard experience on Android TV. Regardless, the secret to pairing the other Google style remote is by going to the menu, selecting remotes and accessories, and holding the volume down and ok button on the remote for a few seconds to enter pairing mode. After a minute or so it appears in the list and you can use the other remote to select it to finish pairing. Perhaps as a testament to a first generation integration, the Epson remote uses IR, controls the volume of the projector and provides input switching to the HDMI, while the other remote uses bluetooth, controls the volume of the Android TV OS, has more smart buttons (YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play) and indeed, the Android OS isn’t even aware of inputs.
Actually after a bit of investigation, the reason the second remote exists is that behind the cloth cover on the back of the projector, there is a plastic cover. Hiding behind a plastic cover is an Epson streaming stick that looks very much like their EF-100 released earlier this year. It connects via a right angle HDMI and gets power from a right angle micro USB. This also explains the lackluster integration, but in a way it’s powerful. This projector could have its smarts replaced easily enough by any number of streaming devices in the future, and it keeps them all hidden in its belly.
The power on experience is excellent, and the initial setup is quite good. The projector walks you through pairing the remote, and signing in to Android TV. Overall the initial Android TV experience is quite good. Inside is a Amlogic S905Y2, which is a quad core A53 ARM cpu that boosts to 1.8GHz, with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. 2GB of shared RAM keeps the SOC fed, and there is 4GB of internal storage with about 3GB available. Sadly, there is no USB input to expand the storage, so this is a streaming platform only. While decidedly mid-range, this SOC seems to perform well in Android TV 9.0. There was an initial security update to perform out of the box, but overall the initial software experience was excellent.
Android TV offers a solid selection of streaming apps, including Movies Anywhere, Vudu, Netflix, Hulu, Google Play, YouTube (and Kids), PBS (and Kids), and quite a few more. Even better, if you’re an Android user, because certain games and apps have TV experiences so your purchases and in-app purchases can follow to the TV. The limitation here will be storage, with only 3GB available, you will be able to install streaming apps, but anything like a game will quickly fill up storage. Android TV has an excellent Chromecast service allowing you to cast content from many apps on your phone.
The projector itself is very similar to previous Epson 1080p projectors. This projector sports a 2700 lumens of brightness, and it does seem quite bright, overpowering living room lights at a decent throw distance. Epson has really refined the 3LCD process, and artifacts like the screen door effect are non-existent. There is a minor bit of vertical lens shift augmenting the keystone correction, which means if you’re mounting this all you need to do is center the projector with the screen and get it in the approximate correct location (instead of having to do a lot of math). Lens shift is relatively rare in affordable projectors, and a definite plus. Like most Epson projectors, there are lots of video options to tweak the picture. The easy settings are just the ‘mode’. If you’re in a darker room, I highly recommend cinema, because it quiets the fan and dims. Dynamic or Living Room is very bright, but you pay for it in the form of fan noise which can be distracting. The built in speaker is passable in a pinch, but using Bluetooth or the line out will be preferred. Unfortunately there is no ARC support over HDMI, which unfortunately is another ding in its role at a dedicated home theater device. Perhaps yet another observation of how dated the internals are is the fact that it supports 3D - a feature I haven’t seen marketed for almost 5 years in the TV market. This doesn’t make the projector bad, but shows the badge engineering and incremental improvements made in the projector market - something to be expected as it’s not nearly as high volume as the TV market.
The only immediate downside with this projector is that the input and outputs are hidden behind a cloth cover on the back. The concept is with Android TV embedded there’s nothing to hook up, and you could augment the sound with a Bluetooth speaker. So this is the inflection point to determine if this is the right projector for you: Are you using this in a dedicated room or are you using this as a portable device or living room. If it’s the former, you may want to skip the smarts and look at a similar model without Android TV (or splurge on one of the 4K projectors). A Shield or other device can work well in those scenarios or you can go with whatever smart platform you want. If it’s the latter, then this projector takes care of some of the pain points for an outdoor setting (with sound, sound output and streaming built in). If you're looking to use it in a living room occasionally for sports or events, this also makes it a very compelling option due to its brightness and Android TV’s selection of apps and even IP TV support.
Overall, the HC2250 is a great iteration of Epson’s 1080p mid-range projectors. It boasts a solid picture, good smarts, solid performance, vertical lens shift, sound both built in and outputs, and a size and weight that can still allow it to be portable. While there are some rough edges with the Android TV OS, both from Google, and Epson’s integration of the OS, everything here is forgivable - especially with the solid app selection offered by Android TV. It’s a solid performer, and an entry for Epson into the Smart Projector market.

Excellent picture quality. Fast start up and shut down routines. Easy focus and throw adjustments. The built in “smart tv” functions work well with the internal speaker for portable use. One of the two supplied remotes is not functional and I am waiting on a warranty replacement. Connections are limited to a single HDMI port. Overall, it is a good performing product for the price.

I'm really pleased with this projector. The automatic keystone adjustment is great since I have to set it up in a weird place. I also like the built in Android TV. My only two qualms are that the 3D seems a little strange to me and there are two different ways to hook up bluetooth devices, which have given me trouble here and there. Overall, I definitely recommend it.
