The reviews that I read on line said that this scanner was easy for a beginner which is true. We had a box of old black & white negatives from the 1920's to 1960's that were multiple sizes and the majority didn't fit the standard scanner film trays. The Epson V750 comes with a tray for wet mount film scanning that can be used to scan the varying sizes of the negatives without having to use the fluid. After having scanned over a thousand pictures, everyone is pleased with it. The quality of the pictures is great. It's hard to believe some of the pictures are 90 years old. At this time we haven't played with all of the software that came with it but will do that later. Right now we've been having fun discovering the pictures of our ancestors. I've included one picture from one of the 1920's negatives to show the quality (without cleaning the negative or using any of the special software).
