Customers commend the ProSense 307 GPS Heart Rate Monitor Multisport Watch for its accurate GPS, excellent battery life, and precise heart rate monitoring. The clear and easily readable display is also frequently praised. However, some users find the watch size bulky and the companion app slow and difficult to use.

I have worn a fitness tracker for some time and was interested in seeing what Epson would bring to the table with its new line of fitness watches. The ProSense 307 GPS is the watch I think will be the most popular in their lineup, and it does a pretty good job. To properly interact with the watch, you need to download the Epson View App, which is available on iTunes and the Play Store.
The watch itself is relatively comfortable. As with most fitness watches, the face is pretty large. You can, at least, customize the appearance and information on the face via the app. The text looks like e-ink and is easy to read.
Since first impression matter, my first two complaints relate to the strap.
First, the watch band keeper (the rubber piece that holds the excess length of the band past the buckle) would be better served by having a little prong to secure the keeper to the strap. Unfortunately, the keeper can slide off the excess length of the strap, especially during heavy activity.
Second, the strap seems overly thin for the bulk of the watch itself. It looked worse in person than in pictures. Maybe I'm just picky, but it felt like I had a relatively thin bracelet with a huge hunk of plastic strapped to it. Not a huge deal, and something I probably won't notice after two weeks, but that's certainly the initial impression.
The watch tracks a ton of stuff, and it does so very well. Of course, it tracks run, walk, treadmill, triathlon, and other exercise. It is waterproof. I was impressed it can break down pool swim (which allows you to set your pool size) vs open-water swim, and it can even track your snow skiing efforts. The stats are very accurate. The Epson uses FirstBeat, which is the same company that handles the stats for the some more expensive sports watches.
The app also logs a significant amount of information, and you can access various swaths of data to improve you workout efficiency. The watch will also upload your information to a few third-party apps, like RunKeeper, MapMyFitness, Strava, MySports, FitnessSyncer, SportTracks, Training Peaks, and others. The app can also interact with Google Fit. You can quickly and easily save waypoints. The bad news about the app is that it looks like it was designed in 2007, not 2017. Maybe that's too harsh, but it certainly could use some additional polish.
The watch has a built-in GPS and optical heart rate monitor but will not work with a chest strap. The GPS seems very accurate once it locks in, and battery life is rated for 20 hours while running using GPS and the heart rate monitor or up to 7 days of "normal" activity. The charger is bit odd, though. It clamps on like an alligator, which seems like a clumsy design. Otherwise, the charger plugs into a standard USB port or wall charger, but the wall charger is not included.
The buttons on the watch are black rubber, other than the shiny metal "Start" button. Most menus work well and are fairly easy to understand, but it'd be nice to have an easier access to turning on the backlighting. I may not want it on the entire time I'm out in the dark, but I'd like to not have to press and hold a button for 10 seconds or scroll through four menus to get to it, either.
It's the little things, like the strap, backlighting, and app interface that show you Epson is still finding its way in the fitness game. But in terms of the hardware itself, Epson has produced a strong player, especially when you consider the price point.

The Epson 307 GPS watch is great at tracking various activities. It has a good battery that charges quickly and an easy to use watch interface. The screen is large and easy to read. The App could use some work but it gets the job done.

This watch is a great watch to check your heart rate and help keep time while working out. I’m not an avid runner, this watch can be used for anyone at all. I would definitely recommend this watch to anyone who wants an active persons smart watch.
