The Epson WorkForce ES-400 II Duplex Desktop Document Scanner is my new favorite desktop accessory. An accessory, that takes up very little space (6.9 inches in height, 6.6 inches in width when closed) on my desk, but completes a lot of productivity in my daily home office tasks. After carefully unboxing my new scanner, I thoroughly read the enclosed illustrated start up leaflet. I immediately noted that it stated, "DO NOT PLUG IN USB CORD UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO". (Except it was not in bold lettering... I would make a suggestion to the company to do so, or highlight that important instruction). It was very easy to set up this wired scanner, using the supplied USB-A to USB-B cable. I then downloaded the software from Epson's website, via the internet. It can handle projects that I create for teaching preschoolers, or even scanning records and receipts into my small business files. It's a fifty-sheet auto document feeder is lightning fast, and is able to scan up to 35 ppm, from business card sized up to 240 inches, while automatically detecting and capturing both sides of each sheet in one pass. It's built "double decker" style, where as, the pages to be scanned, are loaded at the top, then pass through the scanner, and come to rest, in the paper tray below. It resembles a printer in that manner, which is a huge improvement over having to lay pages or photos down, one at a time, on a flatbed or all-in-one style scanner. I found it exciting that this can be paired with an Epson flatbed scanner for scanning my photos or thicker materials, with the optional flatbed dock The included Epson ScanSmart Software2 is intuitive feature allows me to choose, preview, adjust, enhance, email and upload color scans, and make and corrections or adjustments desired before saving it to a searchable pdf file, or one of several cloud storage accounts.  The image correction features such as auto crop, dirt detection, staple protection and paper-skew correction, give me quality scans with less bother. I'm currently working on scanning my grandmother's handwritten recipes into files and these features have really come in handy with this project since the original documents are not in pristine condition. I have already recommended the Epson WorkForce ES-400 II Duplex Desktop Document Scanner to my friends and family. In an age where everything is going virtual, the Epson WorkForce ES-400 II has helped me tremendously! Becoming digital has been stress but not anymore. Set-up was so simple, I had it fully working within 3 minutes. I was able to turn all my old medical records digital, scan in my documents for safekeeping, and even organized my receipts. I even scanned a whole book straight to my Google drive within a minute, I never thought it could be this easy. I found it so impressive that I can scan documents right into Excel and PowerPoint. Everything about this scanner worked perfectly for me! I recommend the Epson - WorkForce ES-400 II.

I have used the Epson Workforce ES-400 II for over a week now. The setup was so easy & fast to connect to my WiFi & laptop. I've been using this for over a week now. I love the capabilities & features it has. I'm able to scan any size document to my laptop fast & easy. I like the reliable paper feeding system. The ultrasonic double feed detection helps prevent me from missing printing pages and also the paper protection helps prevent damage from staples. The scanner helped me get organized fast & easy with receipts, documents for my business. I like I can upload to my Google drive, cloud, dropbox & more. The ability to scan attachment to an email is a great feature I love. I like the quality & resolution of being able to print great pictures. This is absolutely the best machine I've tried. With a lot of people working from home a lot of people need to scan documents to provide proof of work etc. This little baby can do the work with no problem. Compact and portable, it's up and running in minutes. I was able to hook this up to my laptop and download the Epson software with minimal instructions. With ADF and Duplex capabilities just drop in what you need scanned and the software does the rest. This has really come in handy since I do taxes this time of year. Why didn’t I get this sooner? Really speeds up document scanning with fast, clean and crisp images of BOTH sides of the document that you can easily attach to email, save to .pdf, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox with the easy to use EpsonScan Smart app. Like the small form factor versus a giant All-in-One with an inferior flat bed scanner.

This is for the Epson - WorkForce ES-400 II Duplex Desktop Document Scanner This scanner is a step up for me. I’ve had a flatbed scanner for years now and this is a big improvement in several areas. It takes about 1/2 as much desk space as the flatbed. It will scan both sides of documents in color or black-and-white and do it in a hurry – 35 pages/minute. The quality is excellent as well. It can even handle very thin paper or wrinkled paper – you push the “slow” button which reduces the physical stress on the document. One bonus is that it can save a scanned document into a Microsoft Office format (MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint) rather than a PDF. The other is that it will scan business cards (including laminated cards). The only real issue I have is the set-up. There isn’t a lot of detail – just the (now) standard pictographs that sort-of, kind-of show you what needs to be done. UPSIDES: The power cable is reasonably long – I had to coil it up with a zip-tie before plugging it into an outlet strip. DOWNSIDES: (1) The USB cable is fairly short – around 3 feet – I needed 10 feet because the scanner is on the far left of my desk and the computer is under the right side of my desk. (2) I found out – the hard way – that you CANNOT plug the scanner’s USB cable into a USB hub – it must be plugged directly into the computer. (Unless I was doing something wrong – who knows!) (3) It would have been really nice if Epson included a dust cover with their scanners/printers to keep them dust-free but that’s not likely to happen. You’ll have to buy an after-market cover. Recommended. (Note: The photo shows the scanner in the operational configuration - it's much smaller when folded for storage.)

I spent a lot of time researching different document scanners before deciding on this one. I have been using this for almost a year and I am highly satisfied! This scanner is fast, reliable, great quality, compact design with a lot of customizable features from the software. The two-sided feature saves a huge amount of time for scanning two-sided documents. The automatic document feeder works wonderfully and hasn't missed a single page. The image scan quality is superb to less expensive document scanners. I waited until this went on sale to purchase, but it's definitely worth the extra cost over some of the less expensive document scanners. Highly recommend!

It creates smooth, efficient, and great quality scans. It comes with a lot of great software. You scan large documents quickly and with ease. Price, although not cheap, is the best deal for that category of a document scanner.

So easy to use and scans quickly! The set up was quick and simple, even if you aren't good with computers. Highly recommend for personal or professional use.

I have to give the 3 stars I'm giving WorkForce ES-400II 3 stars. The quality of this machine is fantastic. I love how quick scans are done and load up on to my system. You would think that speed would discount the image quality, could not be further from the truth. Im very pleased. I do alot of scanning in my business and can takes forever. This has just saved me hours of wasted waiting for scans to complete. Now as much as Im impressed with the scanner. Im equally disappointed in how difficult it is to connect wirelessly and to find out no one at epson tech support has a clue to the functions of this machine. The manual says that there is an SSID and password on the back of the scanner to be used to connect. Not so. I included image. Manual also say the is a wifi connection button. Where? First off let me say I am so happy with my new Epson Workforce ES-400II.This scanner is amazing. The setup was so easy. I just had to go to the Epson website and find the scanner and boom download link for the software. I am able to scan about 10 pages in about a min. What I like the most is it is able to do double side scans, which one of the things i need the most. I like the programs editable pdfs. That is one of the most convenient things I need in my life. I can tell this will be one of the most used items in my home. I love the scanner. Love this scanner. It makes scanning easy and trouble-free. Very good quality and speed. Set-up is easy and smooth. Online instructions are easy to access and understand. The CEO loves the ability to scan without complications. While working on a current financial project the job was completed in less time than it would have taken to use the scanner on the printer. I would recommend this scanner to family and friends.

It works well, very fast. It is also not too big. It is good for documents not so much for pictures But overall it works well.

So let’s start with setup. Setup was a breeze. All I had to do was go to a website and download the software which took under five minutes. No complex setup instructions, and super easy to connect to phone through WiFi. The scanning is by far the fastest I’ve seen. It literally took a second to scan and pop up on my computer screen. Epson is a long-time Endor on scanning. The Workforce ES-400 is economical but very fast. I needed a larger feed capacity and this met exceeded my expectations. Well built, great software and very fast.

I am so pleased with my Epson scanner. I love it! It was easy to set up and very easy to use.

I purchased this based on the prior reviews being so positive. They were correct - this scanner does the job and more. Easy to set-up and scans in bulk with no jams (time-saver). Scans singe sided or double sided. Easy set-up (download) scanning software with access to cloud storage like Dropbox. I like the fact you can scan items like receipts (different sizes). Highly recommended!

This is a scanner, easy to set up and easier to use. Can scan 20 pages at once in about a few seconds. Worth the price

I wish I would have tried this years ago. I've struggled with the use of Canon commercial grade copiers. Every time there was an update, the drivers wouldn't work. I'd spend hours trying to get the unit back to a functional level. Now that I have this scanner, I have reduced by work hours Every Day! It's fast, reliable, works just like you would hope. Worth every cent.
