    As someone who is just starting to learn how to cook, this item comes in handy to quickly check if the food is cooked enough or not. I like that theres also a quick reference guide on the pen cover showing what the temperatures are for each food group.

    I like the push button on/off switch instead of a slide switch. Other thermometers have not held up well against steam so we shall how this one does. It is better built and more solid than other thermometers I have used. For the price it is a good thermometer to try out and if you don't like it then give it as a gift.

    Nice little thermometer. We upgraded to this one from an old analog dial type. What an improvement! The reading equilibrates in a matter of just a couple three seconds, while our old one took like 30 seconds.

    The digital readout or the numbers indicating the temperature of what you are cooking intermittently becomes dim for no apparent reason (no it's not the battery). this makes it difficult to read the temp when cooking outside.
