Overall a decent radar detector with decent range and sensitivity. There are some false signals that occur due to the increased sensitivity. You will need to adjust your driving habits, but I've have no situations where the radar location was not detected with some warning.

I have owned Escort detectors for many years. They give long range alerts and few false alerts. Combined with the smart cord this radar detector gives you get plenty of warning distance. However the highways now have many speed monitoring units that the radar will pick up and give an alert. The detector is warning of a radar signal but these sensors are for traffic monitoring not ticketing, and the extra alerts are annoying. It is not a fault of the radar detector but that the government want to see average highway speeds and you get the unnecessary alerts.

Replaced an older model Escort that was on its last leg. Can't believe the range of the X50, and the number of false alarms has greatly decreased. Would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality radar detector without breaking the bank.

This has saved me so many tickets! (over the last 25 years of driving) If you need to know if there is a cop around it will give you heads up. Wire it direct so when you start your car it comes on and when you turn it off it goes off.

I have not had a radar detector in a few years, did a lot research and this was the best one for the money, i would highly recommend this to anyone. Best Buy had the best price i had seen for this which is why i purchased it from them

I tend to speed a lot and this has saved me many times. I also use this with Waze app for additional eyes. The only bad thing about this is the laser goes off when I'm near the airport and it is annoyingly loud to the point where I think I'll have a heart attack one day whenever I go to pick up someone from the airport. The text is also clear to read. Two things I worry about which are common with laser detectors is the amount of drops the thing can handle esp. during winter when suction cups fail and how long does the laser detector work as the sensor degrades overtime and is a consumable.

The Passport 8500 X50 is a great radar detector very sensitive, without going off too often. Distinctive sounds for each type of radar. Ka signal is great since it's the most common of the radars used in my area. Good Lidar sensitivity also. The best testimony I can give is that I purchased on Black Friday, traveled all that weekend with troopers from various states shooting radar and now during the Christmas Holiday and so far haven't been pulled over. Still working on custom programming, but out of the box works fine.

I've had many radar detector over the years and this one is working well. I bought this one for a 2nd vehicle. I have the same model in another car and knew it worked well so I got this one.

This radar dectector is great! It has saved me many times in the few months I've had it. I also love the mute button on the plug vs. on top of the detector. It's so much easier to hit the mute button now.

As a beginner not knowing much about radar detectors, I found it easy to install and figure out how to use. I was surprised how far away The detector located and active radar. Anyone thinking of a detector this would be a good beginning one. I have dropped it several times and it still work

First time using a detector, it does find speed traps but you need to get used to the false positives, usually when beeps with just two lines and doesn’t increase is a false.

I bought this one for me after my husband has had his for 3 years. This was on sale and we paid 1/2 of what we paid for my husbands. Very reliable. We are very satisfied with this product.

I am happy to have a device that alerts me when there is any type of radar/laser detection discovered. It has come in handy and alerted me several times already. I chose this device over the one above it simply because I do not really need a device to alert me about red light cameras, its the moving violations that can hurt worse. If you are looking at those expensive device but are doing what I did and say really that much? Go with this model, its in the lower price range and does a great job.

Have avoided several run ins with speed traps on both highway and city driving! Definitely pleased with my purchase!

Detector has good range; picks up speed and alert signs so user knowledge is required to sort.

Works wonderfully. It has already warned me of State Troopers and local Police, running radar.

Used on a 500 mile trip went off a few times with enough warning for me to slow down.It didn't have to many false alarms.

Excellent for a spirited driver! I love that I have the mute button nearby on the cord when my radar is going off!! Excellent buy!
