Awesome detector. Does what it supposed too. Great distance for detecting police.

This is a great radar detector. Only complaint is you can not turn volume down to a low enough level and if you mute, it only stays off for a few minutes.

Decent price. Seems to be working well. Haven't gotten a ticket yet since I bought it....

Works great. My husband has a heavy foot and this really helps a lot. I like the fact that it notifies us of emergency vehicles in the area.

First off, I am not generally a speeder. If you are a speed demon looking for the best protection, this review is likely not for you. So why did I buy a radar detector? Mainly for the accidental encroachment of speeding. Cruising down the highway on cruise control and start down a hill which turns out to be a bit too steep for the engine braking to hold back the car. Not paying enough attention, soon you find yourself 5-10 mph over the limit. Not enough to be dangerous but enough to get a ticket. A little beep of the detector is a reminder to check your speed. Beyond that, it's a fun little thing to have. It's interesting to see the way radar plays a much bigger role in the world than I ever knew. Even stoplights are using radar to help decide when to change. So basically it helps me focus on my driving when my mind might otherwise wander and it helps entertain me when boredom might otherwise take its toll. Well worth the $200 on sale that I bought it for. The one thing I don't care for is having to mount it to my windshield. I realize that for effective coverage it needs a good view of the road all around you, and I don't generally have a passenger so I stick it over on that side, but windshield mounts are always a bother and usually somewhat in the way.

The only downside to this so far is that I can't figure out how to delete incorrect stuff from it. Otherwise I love it!

This portable unit is easy to use, plug in and go. Use in any of your vehicles. Always keep your speed within lawful limits!

The Escort Passport 8500 X50 is one of the best radar detector's on the market. With cheaper brands you will get warnings about the same time you see an officer, but with this unit I routinely get alerts1.5 to 2 miles from the cop. Plenty of time to make a correction. I've had one for years and this one was gift for my son.

The Passport 8500 X50 is a great radar detector. If you have a heavy foot it is worth every nickel. It will pay for itself very quickly as high a tickets are!!

Good mid-level detector, particularly if you're not concerned with traffic signals, or doing lots of big-city driving (so no need to reduce sensitivity). Easy to setup, easy to use.

This product has already saved me several times already.

I bought this on sale for $200. It was a bit pricey compared to my $70 cobra radar detector, however when I compare them side by side, the escort definitely has further range than the cobra.

I am very pleased with this detector, I really like the alert thats even on the power cable plug.
